Laptop Great - Lenovo Support Lousy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop needing the ability to write on screen with a stylus. This was a less expensive option than the Microsoft Surface products. The computer worked well out of the box. But there was a problem with the Lenovo support as part of the initialization process. You register with Windows10 and load all your personal information as is typical with other computers. You then receive an email telling you there is just one more step to finish the registration process. You are directed to click on a button to finalize. BEWARE. All this does is to load third party software onto your machine that will do unnecessary things like check to see if you need support to download updated software drivers or if you need an online assistant. These services are fee based and cause popups to occur in all your applications. I did a direct line chat with Lenovo's support line, asking how I can disable the popups. I was told they only handle hardware issues, instead of software problems. I was directed to another supervisor who told me I could get that information if I wanted to pay for Lenovo's premium service. It didn't seem to register to him that I shouldn't be charged to remove junkware that they loaded on my computer. After a long discussion, he told me the only option I had was to buy Lenovo's premium service package. If you know what you're doing, this is a great machine. If you aren't computer savvy, stay away. Buy any other machine except this one. Otherwise, you will feel like you got roped into a time-share presentation.

Two faulty brand new units
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After substatial research, I purchased this laptop. I planned to immediately test for the known issue that some units will suddenly shut off when the power cord is not plugged in. The first one did not boot right out of the box. It would get to the Lenovo screen sometimes, but then would immediately get stuck on a black screen. I took it back for an exchange, assuming a rare faulty unit. The second one was great; it passed my battery test and I started to get excited about my awesome new laptop. However, after 3 hours of getting it setup, horizontal lines starting flashing on the left side of the screen. I found no complaints about this issue online, yet when I called geek squad and asked if it was fixable the person replied that it was a hardware problem and that she had seen several like that, they aren't fixable. After those two, I gave up and am trying another brand. Because of a scratch on the second one and an odd issue with the nib, I also wondered if the store was reboxing returned units after "fixing" them. To be safe, I'm also staying away from that location. I'm sure if you get a working unit, it is a great laptop: keyboard, touchpad, speed, look were all great, but I don't recommend taking the risk unless you are really set on this model. It's also worth noting, if this is your first high res screen, be ready for lots of weird blurring issues with Windows 10. Problem with Windows, not the computer. In the short time I had a the computer, I tried a couple recommended fixes and neither worked.

Dude...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So after bringing home two lemon Yoga 710's I went for the trusted Thinkpad. Brought it home, marveled at the normally placed shift key, the trackpoint, the included stylus, and turned it on...........almost. Pressing the power button turned on the fan, the backlit keyboard, the little red dot above the thinkpad logo...and nothing else. The screen was black. And not, this is a weird low brightness dark but I can tell it's still on, it was completely dark, as if it was disconnected. I tried turning it on 4 more times, same result. I used the reset button, managed to see the screen for 3 seconds! and then same result. After 40 minutes of my boyfriend reading forums, reviews, and "solved" problems, apparently I had to turn on the machine, slam the lid closed as soon as I turned it on, AND THEN open it. Apparently the machine thought it was either a) connected to an external monitor and would not register this screen, or b) thought the lid was closed, so I had to smack it around a little to get it to realize NOW you're closed, okay let's open together. I haven't had any "serious" problems after that, though the battery felt like it was overheating for there rest of the night afterwards, but the odds of me keeping a machine that caused so many problems an hour into its new life are quite slim...

Great.... When it's not broken.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased this laptop after doing hours of research trying to find the perfect college computer. I stumbled upon this one and I was in love. The processor was powerful enough for my needs, it had a dedicated graphics card, a solid 8 gigs of RAM, and the build quality seemed solid. However, as soon I bought the ThinkPad Yoga I ran into the same issue TWICE. The build quality, that I thought was so wonderful, let me down. The rubber lining surrounding the bezel started peeling immediately. I had the laptop for about eight hours. The only thing I had done was flip it back into tablet mode a few times. The next day, I brought the computer back. I took the laptop out the packaging and rubbed that corner. Guess what? Same problem! The thing hadn't even been turned on before it started falling apart. I again went back to Best Buy. I exchanged it again only after running around for an hour to the next nearest Best Buy with the laptop in stock. This one seems to be doing fine. It runs smoothly, video quality is awesome, and its quiet. I am so disappointed in the company that I once held to such a high standard. This will most likely be the last thing I buy from Lenovo.

lenovo a big disappointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought lenovo thinkpad yoga 14 in April 2016. as of today, it has been at the lenovo repair center for 32 days. i am told this week. what went wrong. in late august i was doing excel spread sheet work. I powered down and unplugged machine due to bad weather in the area. later in the day, i attempted to turn machine on when only a black screen appeared with the "LENOVO" logo on the screen and there it sat no matter what i attempted. I contacted Lenovo they graciously extended warranty. once in the repair center, i was notified that after screen issue was addressed the click pad was bad and i have been waiting for the replacement parts for 3 1/2 weeks. do not know if this is truly the issue because i guarantee i used an external mouse not the click pad. the laptop was used as a desk top. it was never moved. it sat in one place on a desk in my home office. so disappointed in this machine. think twice before you make the same mistake by purchasing this laptop. i bought it because it is was my husband's company issues to its employees and my rocket scientists sons only use this type. glad they had better luck than me.

Defective Model
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer has the potential to be an excellent device, but unfortunatly this is not a very solid line of well-built computers. The Wacom pen is excellent, the track-pad is nice, and the overall size of the computer is perfect. However, I have exchanged this computer multiple times because the same issues keep arising. Computer 1: New In Box-- back-light in bottom right-hand corner of screen was green and making images that should-be black, look green. Left-hand side of the computer was fine. Computer 2: Would NOT connect to wifi (I purchased a separate Lenovo recently and this seems to be a common issue with them) Computer 3: SAME issue with back-light in bottom right-hand corner of screen. I WOULD NOT buy this computer without a protection plan, as 2/3 I purchased had defective back-lights (I purchased them from separate stores), and the other one would not connect to the internet.

Terrible quality. Endless issues.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop prior to starting medical school and have had an endless amount of issues with it. The first one I got from Best Buy in 3/2017 instantly had a keyboard issue when I brought it home. Just hovering over the 3 key would cause it to type 333333333333333333333333333333333 without pressing it down all the way. They replaced it and then the new one that brought home had very bright backlight shining through on dark screens. When the screen was supposed to be black, there was several large blurbs of bright light in different areas of the screen. They replaced that, and then the next one had a strip along the entire vertical length of the screen that was about 2 inches thick that was insensitive to touch. If I was writing with my pen in a different area, it would register as if I was writing in that 2 inch strip and constantly click on pages within that strip or draw on the other side of the screen. I took it in, but this time they had to send it into their repair center to be fixed. They sent it back with that issue fixed. However, the new screen was flickering down in the task bar area. This eventually turned into the entire screen flickering and freezing and then going black. Finally, the screen just gave out and never worked again. So I sent it in another time, and it has been in the repair center for 3 weeks and they've replaced 3 different parts each week, but still can't figure it out. I'm just hoping to get my money back and buy a new laptop straight from the manufacturer because Best Buy apparently has no quality control or screening of the laptops the sell to their costumers. I'm very unpleased. I have a classmate who has this laptop that he bought straight from Lenovo and it has worked great for him. Its a great computer on paper, but every one I have gotten from Best Buy has been awful. I will never buy from Best Buy again.

Beautiful Laptop, COMPLETE Track Pad Failure TWICE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.YOU CANNOT USE A LAPTOP WITHOUT A MOUSE! Purchased this computer brand new from Best Buy after doing 3 months of research on which laptop to buy. Absolutely loved the Yoga aspect, great spill proof keyboard, and decent processing speed. BUT! I bought it new, and within 24 hours my trackpad started not working. It would not sense my my fingers, or clicking and would not start to work again until I restarted the laptop. It would happen multiple times a day in the middle of work and I would have to restart with no way to save work. Went to geeksquad, they determined it was a hardware failure, and assured it would not happen again. Bought a SECOND one, decided to buy this one open box certified, as buying it new obviously did not make a difference. Could not activate two-finger scroll, ELAN driver was corrupted, uninstalled, reinstalled, no change / ability to activate scrolling. Downloaded an older driver to activate, and it finally worked. THEN the trackpad completely stopped working just as on the first machine. YOU CANNOT USE A LAPTOP WITHOUT A MOUSE!?! Extremely frustrated that the trackpad malfunctioned to the point of complete inability to use on two different machines! Returning and need to begin research again.

Posted .With regard to the trackpad issues you mention with your device, does the ThinkPad Touch Point device work (red pointing device in the middle of the keyboard)? There may be driver Mouse-Keyboard updates for your specific system. Follow the link below to look for new driver updates for your specific system. You can also run diagnostics from the Lenovo site as well. As always, be sure to create a restore point on your system before you make any changes. You can do this by just typing "restore point" in the search window within Cortana and follow the link to create a restore point. Here is the link:

Laptop has been replaced twice now in 6 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it works it's great but would never buy again. First laptop quit working after 8 days. Best Buy had to order another one. Now 6 months later second laptop quit working. What makes it 10 times worse is daughter is 2 hours away at college with no car so I have to drive to pick up laptop and after geek squad determines cannot be fixed they order new one and I have to drive it back to her. I have owned 5 laptops and NEVER had the issues I have with this Lenovo. I will NEVER buy another Lenovo, don't even think I would take one even if free. Only saving grace is we bought the 3 year extended service warranty. I am wondering how many times a laptop has to stop working before it is declared a lemon and we can get our money back. Cannot tell you how much money and time I have spent driving to pick this up and then take in to try and be fixed and take new one back to daughter. Not to mention each time she is out computer for 2 weeks. When you spend $800 on laptop you expect it to be a little better than this. Wish I had just bought her another Dell laptop. Highly disappointed

Lenovo Touchscreens Are Horrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.About 3 weeks after the warranty ran out the screen went out. I took it to my local computer shop and they said they had 3 Lenovos that week come through with the exact same issue. Apparently the touchscreen has a very limited life on it. It costs about $400 to replace it. That’s half the price of the computer. No thanks! That’ll be my last Lenovo.
