Great laptop for work, gaming, and traveling. i do believe i found the perfect laptop for me. Great Overall Value i dont there's anything like it...2GB Nvidia graphics Card. $1099 YOGA Thinkpad. 14" TOuchscreen Laptop Awesome screen. Yoga mode perfect for the plane to watch movies. It's light but not Airbook light...then again this is a laptop that i need to work on and do the occasional gaming. Bordelands 2 runs smooth on medium settings. Been playing a lot of LOL and runs on High easliy. Gonna try other games on HIgh, see how that goes. 840m isnt the highest graphics card but still good. Had it for 3 weeks now...my 3 yr old son has played with it and its still working, so durability is good so far. The graphics card is what sold me to this laptop

    Great Laptop

I purchased this laptop in November. I have to say this laptop is great. I like the nice bright 1920x1080 screen and at 14in its not to small or to big. The laptop is very sturdy and the keyboard is very nice and I like the way it functions in tablet mode by locking out the keys. I did return the first one I purchased as it would not wake up from sleep mode even after I re-imaged it twice. BestBuy went out of their way to make me happy in getting a new replacement. The second one has been flawless. Yes you can't compare a standard HD to a SSD but those prices are coming down very fast and I will upgrade later. The laptop isn't the lightest one out there but its a nice balance between an ultralight and a regular laptop. Nice to have 2GB dedicated video card for some light gaming. I rate this as an great buy for a 2-1 laptop.

Beautiful Screen, Excellent Keyboard, Super Fast!

Lenovo Yoga 14 laptop first impressions: Sturdy build, fast system even with a 1TB physical 5400 RPM drive. It uses a 16gb SSD drive for caching. Keyboard is great with a good tactile feel. Only keyboard that comes close to this one is the Macbook series. Screen is bright enough at 300 nits but would be hard to see in the sunlight. Sound is very loud but tinny (as expected with a laptop). Screen is beautiful and clear. Viewing angles are excellent with no wash out by looking from sides or different angle. Bestbuy.com has on sale right now for $999 and it comes with an i5, 1TB HD, 8GB RAM and 14"IPS 1080p Screen.

    Terrific computer

I am a teacher and I purchased this computer for work. Although it was pricey, I feel it was worth it. I've never been disappointed with a Thinkpad and this one is my favorite yet. The keys are feel good --- not mushy; the resolution is perfect for reading and watching movies; the track pad is responsive and wide enough for someone with bigger hands. Also the 2 in 1 feature is great. I have a digital subscription to the NYTimes and I love reading the paper in stand mode and scrolling down the screen with my finger. Although the Lenovo Thinkpad isn't the "prettiest" computer, it is a workhorse. And that's what I wanted.

    Disappointed longtime Thinkpad user

I've been a lontime Thinkpad fan, having also used Dell's and HP's at companies I've worked for, Thinkpads were always the most reliable, stable and durable. This Yoga replaced an old workhorse T61 which still worked like a champ but the screen was fading. I am a trackpoint user so was disappointed to see the dedicated mouse buttons go away, but figured I could get used to the new design. Wrong. It is such a long awkward reach for your thumb that I kept accidentally hitting the right side (I use the right mouse button a lot so did not want to disable). Eventually I just gave up on the trackpoint and disabled it. The worst thing by far, though, is the poor wifi range. From the same location where my old T61 works like a champ, the Yoga throughput is horrible. I have walked around testing it and performance just falls off a cliff after a very short distance (despite showing 4 out of 5 bars). I live in a rural area so interference is not an issue. I've tried numerous changes to the Intel AC-7260 wifi adapter and my router settings but no luck. After a couple months with Win 8.1, I did a fresh Win 7 install with the latest drivers and performance is still terrible so it appears to be a hardware issue. Also, the 16G SSD / I TB HDD is not a great setup unless you really need a lot of storage. I removed both and replaced with a single 250G SSD and performance is far better. Lastly, the keys show oil from your fingers very easily so the keyboard always looks grungy. The display is beautiful, the keyboard has a nice feel, battery life is good, and with the new SSD and fresh OS install, performance is now good. The poor wifi range kills it for me though.

    Good Machine but Not Perfect

I've brought this machine for a week and I would like to share it with you all. Pros: 1. Robust build 2. Sharp Display 3. Cool 360 screen rotation 4. Valuable package Cons: 1. Poor Wifi range (Speed is fast but range is short) 2. Wifi limited connection/ drop every 20 mins or so 3. HHD/ hybrid still slow as compared to SSD P.S. If anyone has tips to improve Cons No.1 or 2 will be greatly appreciated.

    major battery issues

I bought this laptop right before Christmas time for work. I knew I needed a laptop with a graphics card that was going to be able to handle programs such as Sketch-up, AutoCAD, 3DS Max and the Adobe Creative Suite programs. The guy at Best Buy was great and let me know which laptops were in my price-range that would be able to render out 3dsmax models. Although I"m not a huge fan of Windows 8, I was still plenty happy with this PC until after a month in— after IT set up all the programs I needed at work. I received a Battery error message and soon after noticed that my laptop would shut down unexpectedly – it mostly occurred if I was working on my lap and needed to adjust it. I then started to realize that it happened every time I needed to pick it up and move it – or if I slightly bumped it. I did a lot of research and found that they do have a faulty battery and if you want it replaced you need to send it out. Because I do need it for work I have yet to send it out… I instead have to make sure that it is plugged in at all times for the laptop to work properly and not shut off. I also notice that when the screen is dark that there is a yellow tint around the edges of the screen and that some of the windows programs freeze and I need to reboot. That could also be my lack of knowledge with windows 8 since I’ve always had a Mac. Regardless, I am hoping to have it fixed but just continue to post-pone until I have some free time from work to send it out. I do regret having bought it. If anyone has advice as how I could get it fixed without it being shipped out for a month, that would be greatly appreciated. I also don't just want to replace it since thousands of dollars of programs have been programed into this laptop.

Poorly designed model. Shuts off intermittently.

I do not recommend to buy this computer. My first Thinkpad Yoga 14 had a problem of intermittent shut off. I sent it back to the manufacturer. Exchange machine, brand new out of the box, had the same problem. When you lift your Yoga 14 with right hand near the front right corner, computer shuts off, sometimes it shuts off in your bag and you have to restore all the documents that were not saved when you send your Yoga 14 to sleep by closing the lid. In my opinion and from communication with Lenovo specialists, this model has faulty kill-switches connected to keyboard, they shut off the whole system when faulty activated by normal movement of your computer case. Researching the problem on the internet I found that it is a common problem with this model. I think that is why Lenovo removed it from their web site. However, not all computers the same and you may be lucky buying leftovers of Yoga 14 from BestBuy. This review is no more than my personal opinion, and one may find their experience different.

    Wanted to Love it...Quality issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I originally bought the Thinkpad Yoga 14 as a replacement for the Lenovo Yoga 2 pro that I purchased and returned due to flimsy build quality. I have owned Thinkpads in the past and saw the features of the Hybrid drive, dedicated graphics, and Legendary build quality and the choice was a no brainer.I bought two of these laptops and both of them ended up being defective. The first one bought came with two dead pixels in the screen and also looked used. The second one sounded like it had something loose inside of the keyboard, and the locking lever that protects the keys was raised on the right side and defective. Everything else was great and fit and finish were exceptional; But I have no idea what it going on with Lenovo quality control but I will not buy another one at this point. I expected much more from them.

    Just the worst

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a laptop. I travel a lot and work from different offices all the time and I bought this computer because it is advertised as a great laptop for professionals on the go. The problem is that it cannot connect at half of the WiFi networks. I tried for several weeks to fix this thinking it was something I could change in the settings. By the time I realized I was spending hours in every place trying to fix it, I finally went to Best Buy and ask for an exchange. Of course, the ridiculous 15 days exchange window had passed. The only think they did was send it to the manufacturer. In the meantime I paid over 1000 dollars and I am without a computer for work. The consumer should not have to pay for the manufacturer/retail store lack of quality products.

    came with fingerprints

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the first Lenovo product I ever bought. I picked up the laptop from the store, and it was sealed with the lenovo THINK seal/stickers. However, when I opened it and saw multiple fingerprints on the laptop. I purchased multiple laptops (and other electronics) over the years, and none of them had fingerprints like this one. I went back to the store, and asked to replace it with another one. They did, and the second laptop I received was sealed as well. However, when I opened it, it had fingerprints as well (even more so than the first one). I am very disappointed to see that a $1000 laptop is being packaged like that. I was told that it could be the fingerprints of a Lenovo employee in the factory, but I would expect these employees to wear latex gloves while handling and packaging the laptops. As I said, none of the laptops I bought in the past had fingerprints on them (neither tablets, cellphones, TVs or any other electronics I purchased). I called the Lenovo customer service number, and the representative put the blame on BestBuy, claiming that they might have opened it. I talked to BestBuy, and they claim that the laptops came like that from Lenovo, sealed. So nobody takes responsibility, and at the end of the day I have a laptop that cost me $1000, and doesn't look like a brand new laptop should look like.

Good luck if you have to send it to be repaired

So, I bought this laptop before xmas. It was working just fine until about a month ago when the screen would not come on any more. I sent it off to Lenovo's repair center and it has been sitting there for almost a month now because the part is on back order. If you search for Lenovo repair center you'll find hundreds of horror stories of people having to wait over a month or two to get their machine back. Lenovo also refuses to just replace machines, they insist that they have to repair each one even if it takes forever. Best Buy wasn't much help either as it was out of their return policy window. I had to buy another laptop because I have work to do and cannot afford to wait over a month. I will never buy another Lenovo product again.

Plastic body is not that great. Already started making squeaking noise. Especially on the left hand near the trackpad under the keyboard area. Gets irritating when ever you start typing. Also the rubber bumpers in the back came out after a while. Better to buy a Dell XPS or something else with metallic/aluminium body.

For open box geek certified - NO!

I bought open box geek certified laptop but when I received it the ctrl keys were not working. I am not sure how it was certified by geek squad or not at all certified? Because this may be the reason earlier purchaser returned it. Also the laptop top cover was dirty. Guess, it was not cleaned after some big label or sticker was removed. Highly unsatisfied. Not recommend anyone to buy open box even if its so called geek certified.

    Great Laptop - Except...

I purchased this laptop a couple days ago. I was very impressed with all the features. The screen is great and the sound is better than other laptops I've owned. I purchased this laptop for the dedicated graphic card and the 14" size. I gave this review only 3 stars because the laptop when plugged in and charging and playing online games gets very HOT! Almost too uncomfortable to place on the lap. I'm considering returning this laptop at Best Buy. I do not recommend this laptop.

Had the computer for about 3 months. Wanted something lighter to carry around for work. The hard drive crashed right before an important presentation. Lenovo couldnt do anything about it and I had to send it in. They replaced the hard drive and the turnaround was quick, but lost all my software and files that I had saved.

    Fine for personal use, but...

There is no TPM chip in this machine. Do not buy this if you require BitLocker Encryption. Lenovo sales will tell you it does have one and so might Best Buy, but it does not. That being said, if you don't need a TPM chip, get a machine with a beefier processor. The screen is really nice and durable and the flip design is fine, though you'll never forget you have it sitting in your lap due to its weight.
