blackout while offline
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just bought this computer to upgrade my gaming experience. I couldn't believe how well it handled on very high graphics. The performance is amazing. Downside is when im offline, the screen blacks out after a few minutes. Even in airplane mode.

The Y700 is Amazing Value for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop has solid construction, a great processor, and solid graphics card. The touch screen is fun and the games run great. I play Battlefield 4 and it has greatly enhanced my gaming experience. Mind you, I am coming from a fourth generation i5 laptop with no dedicated graphics card. The speakers on this are the best I have ever heard on a laptop. The price is rock solid - similar spec macbook would be $2,000+. I did have to upgrade the drive to an SSD. Bought a sandisk from Bestbuy for $125 for 480gb. If you do not have the know how to do install an SSD, an keep drivers up to date, and install an operating system, this machine might not be for you.

Great for gaming, but terrible build quality.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this computer for almost 2 years now, and I have to say I loved everything about it until about 3 weeks ago. On the day that my view changed, I opened the lid and I was greeted with a loud cracking sound. I found that the plastic piece that covers the hinge was popping off on the left side, and eventually it just came off. I used the computer for another 2 weeks and suddenly I was greeted with another loud cracking sound! What had happened this time was the LCD part of the screen popped off from the backlight on the same side that the plastic piece started coming off from. Currently, the screen is taped together and the plastic piece is off the computer entirely. There is a picture attached of what it looks like currently (spoilers: it's not pretty). Overall, the computer is fantastic for gaming, but the build quality is so gosh darn awful that I can't really recommend it to a friend after what happened with mine recently. I'll be buying a new laptop soon, and I'll be sure to look out for hinge/build quality on that one.

Terrible purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Lenovo y700 because, for the value, it seemed to be the best choice for a gaming laptop and for every day use. I loved the design. I liked that it came with a touch screen as well. The morning after I bought it I opened it and tried to turn it on, only to stare at a black screen. I tried unplugging the battery, using fn + f3 to turn on the screen backlight. But none of the recommendations worked. This is apparently a problem that many other people have run into with the y700. I don't understand how so many could have this issue and these can still be on store shelves without the problem being solved. Worse still, all of the reviews from people with the same issue, complained about this happening to them after 2 months, which is still absolutely ridiculous. But 1 day after opening the box? Needless to say I would like a refund and will never buy a Lenovo product again.

DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer as a graphic design and video editing computer, occasionally I planned to play a FPS on it. The first time i bought this computer I had trouble installing the update for the graphics drivers, this caused my computer to crash at least twice. When I finally was able to update the drivers Photoshop and my video editing software worked fine. But there was large white spots on Call of Duty and i experienced a large amount of lag. From there I managed to stop the white spots (I do not know how) but as i went to work with Photoshop my computer would crash, so i decided to take it back and hopefully get an actual computer that worked. The second y700 had the exact same problem except this time I wasn't even able to run Photoshop with out the computer crashing. So in no way do i recommend this computer to any one, it is a sad excuse for a paper weight.

Not adequate for gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was told when I purchased this that it was the successor to the Lenovo Y70 - a computer with 16GB ram, 1TB HD + 128GB SSD, and a giant (17.3") display - and that the processor on the Y700 more than made up for the sacrifices you make in the transition if you're a casual gamer. This is obviously not true. For example, I couldn't run a game of Skyrim's size without constant crashes to desktop, and ESO doesn't run at all. There are plenty of good computers with the Intel Core i7 and better RAM than the Y700 in the same price range. I strongly suggest buying a different computer if you're gaming even casually.

Good performer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to upgrade memory and drive. Screen bezel could be much thinner. Makes the 15.6 feel small. Battery life is a moderate issue.

Mathematical error call Lenovo support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was enjoying the laptop and in the middle of the game a red warning popup. Call Lenovo tech support for instructions.. The device has a mathematical error and needs to be repaired. Give the technician the error code. Couldn't find contact phone. Chat not supported. Had to download a bridge. No way. Reset, back in the box and to the store. Very disapointed.

Great computer but has some issues with video driv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great computer, but it has given me a bit of problems with the video drivers. The display would flicker randomly when watching videos. It has stopped for now but not sure if it will happen again. Also do not change the setting and make the Nvidia the main GPU as it will make chrome and other programs, and eventually the computer its self, crash when watching videos.

Horrible Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The simple fact is DO NOT BUY Lenovo products. I have had a Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 17"ISK for only four months and the motherboard stop working. Since I bought this directly from Lenovo, I have had to go through them to have Lenovo honor any warranty and fix my new computer. The Lenovo tech support process has been nothing short of an absolute nightmare, from an automated system that will not return calls to inept representatives filled with empty promises, Lenovo has showed very little concern that they are wasting my time and costing me money every day my computer is non operational. Certainly if you are interested in Lenovo products only purchase these horrible devices from Best Buy or a reputable retailer that can offer support and advice when it comes to fixing the inevitable issues (and headache) these products will cause.

Big fail on motherboard, appalling warranty servic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this in mid-December and had a big failure in February, suddenly just not startup, I introduced a warranty claim and they made me take it to a service center where they diagnosed a fault on the motherboard that requires replace it, it has more than 60 days waiting for the piece and they told me that the tentative date for delivery is June 28 and then it must to take the repair time. It is not an cheap equipment and I think the time it took to fail deserve the replacement with a new laptop but Lenovo has failed to solve it or help me with this. Do not buy it.
