This laptop does not come with software and does not have a CD drive which is something the sales person failed to mention when he sold me CDs to load the software. I guess that is the reason it had been returned previously.

Date of purchase 10/10/15. Date it stopped working 10/11/16. Literally wasted money here. It simply stopped turning on. This product is horrible! Just purchased a Dell and will NEVER entertain Lenovo again.

I had high hopes as it seemed like a good product. I hated it. Windows 8 was so goofy and frustrating I brought it back to the store. If you buy this, keep your receipt handy and know when your return deadline is.

I bought this laptop for my wife so that she can play games and it was affordable. However, straight out of the box we had issues. For some reason the laptop comes pre-installed with adware that is quite frankly annoying and almost impossible to work around. After a few weeks of fiddling around with it, I think I have finally managed to block most of the ads. Seriously, the ads that popped up when using any browser made it almost impossible to use. Any programs that were running were constantly exited out of to view these ads. I am very disappointed in this product.

The flip screen makes it easy for portability. It has no CD/DVD drives and by the time you pay for any external drive, you should just pay the additional price for one with detachable screen.

    Helpdesk Engineer's Review

    Posted .

I am a tier 3 IT helpdesk engineer, so feel free to take this with at least some credibility. A lot of reviews complain about Windows updates hanging, or other operating system issues. Off the bat, I need to remind everyone that Windows 8 is neither Lenovo's fault, nor problem. Now, on to the review. Where I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for heavy duty use (e.g. video editing, multi-remote session log in, etc), this is probably the greatest laptop for home use I have used in...well as long as I can remember. The only con is that you can't upgrade the RAM (it's soldered onto the motherboard and capped at 4 GB). It is very quick and runs clean. My favorite feature is stand/tablet mode. If you fold the keyboard about 3/4 of the way back, it works as a stand and the touch screen goes into effect, activating "stand mode". If you fold the keyboard 100% of the way back, it goes into "tablet mode". The touch screen is incredibly accurate. I don't know if this is what they were going for, but the laptop looks and feels a lot like a mac, in terms of physically/keyboard feel. It weighs just under 5 lbs, so it feels like nothing. The battery holds a solid 5 hour charge (tested this myself, including high usage and video streaming). And finally, the price. This is an absolute steal for even $700, let alone $530. I highly recommend this to anyone that needs a home laptop.

The laptop came with a hardware defect. Battery doesn't get charged. I spoke to the Lenovo Help people, they perform some test via web and they could not solve the problem. I am abroad now, but going back to Miami next sunday. I will return it back to you. Thanks

    Incredible value and utility

I have been using my Yoga 2 11 for a month now. USE -- I use this as my primary computer and 90% for business and 10% for personal. I chose it to merge my iPad and laptop as I am tired of two devices. My business use is mostly MS Office apps plus some web based systems. No gaming or other graphic intensive stuff. Coming from Acer laptop running Win 7, 11 inch screen, core i7, with SSD and 8 GB. DESIGN -- This is a well built machine and feels sturdy. Others have commented that the keyboard feels flimsy but it works fine for me (admitted 2 finger typer). The touchpad is responsive and solid as well. A bit touchy for me as I am a fast mover and Windows 8 interprets those fast moves as something other than screen navigation. The machine is light weight by my standards. PERFORMANCE -- On purchase I upgraded to a SSD as I am accustomed to a fast drive and need more room than the 500GB that comes standard. Simple to do. I was very leery of the processor as I had a laptop with a core i7 before though much slower clock speed. So far, this machine does well - not quite as fast but more than enough speed for routine office work -- large Excel and huge PPT files open quick and run fast. Some apps are slower to open but I think that has more to do with the pathetic 4GB RAM than processor speed. There is no way to upgrade memory -- it is on the board so you have 4 GB total and that slows things some. Why they cannot sell a Yoga 2 11 with 8 GB RAM and a 4th gen i7 is beyond me. Must be price point but there are those who would pay and I am one. BATTERY -- I can get 6 hours out of the unit continuous and dimming the display a bit. What's awesome is how fast it wakes up. Close the lid and it sleeps with little power draw. Open it and it is ready to go in seconds. Changes my whole use of the thing off AC power. I no longer envy the Mac people who can boot up in seconds. This alone makes the average battery last longer. I am sure that is Win 8 but who cares as it makes this device better. DISPLAY AND SOUND -- Crisp clean and sharp. Bright if you want and even dim easy to see. Sound is really good for smaller machine. Shocked me how good it puts out sounds. Display with touch is very responsive as laptop or tablet. PORTS -- Invest in a micro hdmi to VGA cord if you want to use with a projector. I do this all the time with work and other than the cost of the wire, it is acceptable. One USB may cramp some people's style but I use mine seldom so it works for me. But do ask yourself if you routinely use two USB's how you can get by with one. WIFI -- Simply put, the WiFi is poor. Range is half what I get with a two year old Acer and I do find that the wifi struggles to connect to known networks at times. I have cross checked with other devices and can connect fine when the Yoga struggles. I came very close to returning the unit over this but decided I'd make it work. Other than the range issue, it works OK as I am resigned to power cycle the wifi to correct other issues. I have read that other Yoga models suffer the same wifi affliction and hope that Lenovo will address if with software. OVERALL -- Average performance even with an SSD and poor wifi are problems that those who want a single device for tablet and laptop can put up with. Solid build, display and sound for smaller machine. Fast wake with good power mgmt in Win 8 makes up for smaller battery. PS -- Win 8 on a touch machine takes getting used to. I still use desktop mode and am slowly learning the metro interface. Touching screen is starting to feel natural. PSS -- Recall this unit replaces my iPad. Things to consider in this area are weight and apps. Yoga is way heavier than iPad but the various Yoga modes (tent, laptop, etc.) mean I hold it way less so practically the weight is a non issue for me. If you wish to replace iPad, look for the apps you use on Win store and see how close you can get. Win store is OK and many apps for iPad are not on Win. But, since this is a real laptop, many apps you run on iPad are not needed. Example -- iPad has Weather apps all over but who needs one if you can open any website with weather? Some apps will matter; others will not.
