Great laptop, if you can handle the battery life

I bought this laptop about a week ago and it is awesome! Obviously, it can be used in a variety of ways. The touch screen is phenomenal and responsive, runs great and has a very nice display for such a small screen. HOWEVER, there is a slight con... The battery life is not so hot (about 3.5-4 hours or so without watching videos or streaming music). I am able to read articles and browse the web for about 3.5-4 hours without having to plug in; however, if you are watching videos such as YouTube or Netflix, playing games or streaming music, it reduces it to about 2.5-3 hours. It is not all that bad for me, since I got the computer for a moble station to work on homework and papers away from my desktop computer. I would not recommend this laptop to someone who is looking to work on the go for an extended period of time away from an outlet. Apart from the battery, this laptop is absolutely amazing. It runs basic games pretty well, including Minecraft.

Great 2 in 1 for the money

First, I want to say that this is just an excellent little laptop/tab. I am reviewing it for what it is. So, I am not going to compare the performance of this with an 800.00 unit other than battery life. Performance - The Bay Trail processor really does a nice job. Add to that 4 gb of memory and the fact that the processor turbos to around 2.4 mhz and you have a decent performing computer. This will handle most average tasks with ease. Netflix plays nicely......absolutely zero issues surfing.......Office works great.......I even loaded Photoshop Elements and did some photo editing with zero lag or issues. I was pleasantly surprised........If you want to do any major video editing, etc, you may want to get something a little more powerful. However, this really performs nicely for most tasks. Battery - Battery life has been pretty good. I have a friend who just bought a Yoga 11s with the Haswell processor and we did a direct side by side comparison......they literally have about the same battery life from our tests. So, I am happy. This really has a laptop feel and I really like the keyboard. Also, the touchpad is excellent and does a really good job with 2 finger scrolling. .......Additionally, the size and weight is really, really good. Overall, this is a nice laptop. For under 500, it can't be beat in my opinion.

    Outstandingly versatile laptop/tablet in one...

First of all I want to address a problem some people are complaining about regarding wifi connection & bluetooth connections dropping. The problem is the Lenovo Energy Manager software that runs at start up. It is overly aggressive at turning things off or sleeping things to maximize battery life. My Wifi connection would constantly drop while streaming video or whatever - very frustrating. When I disabled the Energy Manager, those to problems completely disappeared and my battery life doesn't appear to have changed at all. I also uninstalled a few of the other Lenovo applications as well as McAfee. My Yoga runs SO much better now. I love being able to use Tent Mode or Tablet mode on occasion - genius design concept. The IPS screen is very very nice. When comparing to the HP 360, the Lenovo slaughters that HP screen. Aside from the excessive Lenovo software bloat, my only wish would be that the touchpad had 2 finger tapping for right-click, and the keyboard had a bit more "click" feel to it - and of course if it were backlit, that would have been absolutely killer. I am very pleased with my purchase and I would recommend this product to anyone, but be prepared to spend a little time tweaking it to get the most performance out of it.

I got my yoga 2 yesterday and so far I love it. one downside is that it does not come with Microsoft office but it is not too bad to pay $139 for Microsoft office for the entire life of the computer. the keyboard works great and the touchscreen is awesome and the size is perfect for me.

A computer with several major problems

I have an older version of this model (less than 1 1/2 years old) and it's a piece of junk. Since buying it, I've had to take it in twice because it wouldn't charge or turn on. Both times I was told that it was "a very rare problem". However, the first time I took it in, Best Buy had to order me a completely new computer - and then it happened again to the second computer! Luckily the second time I got to keep the same computer, because it would have cost $1,000 to recover my files due to the nature of the internal pieces. I have also had to take this computer in for repairs because the track pad became unresponsive, which still happens from time to time. The battery already needs to be replaced and the system itself had become very slow. It also has issues with connecting to wifi. I have had a Lenovo before and it was a good quality laptop. This model, however, was not Lenovo's best work by any means. It makes me hesitant to buy any products from them in the future.

Enjoy the laptop but still adjusting to the size

When I went into the store I was very excited to see this laptop as I wanted something small. While it certainly does the job, it takes time getting use to the size. So far the performance is certainly okay and it does the job for basic computer work. I haven't tried to do detailed work on it and not sure how it'll perform.

    Great little laptop/tablet for school

I purchased this product for school and am extremely happy with it. I can barely feel it when I am carrying it around and it can be put almost anywhere. The only peeve that I have is that it can't handle much of any games. This was expected for this product and is not an issue. It does however play counterstrike: global offensive pretty well, even though spec wise it really shouldn't. If you are wanting something with a little more umph too it, they make a lenovo yoga 2 with Intel I5 and a 120gb ssd in it. I needed more hard drive space then that and decided to get this one. Which is a decision that I don't regret. Look at this as a really strong tablet with a keyboard and you will be right on with what I see it as. I will use my custom built Desktop for gaming and the like.

Battery Not Good, Wifi Card lousy, slow performanc

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had the computer for about a month now and here's my pros and cons review. Pros: Sleek look, Portable, light weight, modern look and very cool; can be converted to a tablet and it's touch screen. Cons: Battery lasts for only 5 hours or less; This computer is slow and the keyboards are too sensitive. My biggest pet peeve about this computer is that I have 25MBPS internet service provider/FIOS, but this computer's Network/Wifi Card is really really SLOW. So that makes internet surfing really SLOW even if you have a fast Internet Service Provider. Look up the wifi card issue about this Lenovo Yoga model, you will get a lot of results. So forget watching Netflix, YouTube or streaming any movies on this computer. Even as simple as browsing Facebook takes about 10~15 seconds to load the webpage. Facebook loads 10x much faster on my other 5 year old laptop so it's not an issue with my ISP. Overall, I would not recommend this laptop to anybody.

Wifi connectivity problems out the wazoo!

I'd give it 5 stars as it's an awesome little computer, tiny, lightweight and fairly fast but it is RIDDLED with wifi connectivity issues. Very temperamental. Only connects about 50% of the time on public wifi / coffee shops. Every other day it decides to disconnect randomly in the room in my house that I use it in the most, when every other wifi device works perfectly. Skip this one. Wish I'd read the reviews on lenovo's forums before I bought it.

Great build quality but average performance

It's just a average laptop. The size and build quality is it's greatest pros. Battery last around 4hrs, tablet conversion is a gimmick, Hard disc uses a slow HDD, the cpu is low-end. For documents and internet browsing it works fine. There is slight pausing when playing hd movies. The speakers are at the bottom which sounds muffled when you use it as a laptop. Using in tablet mode is too big and heavy. Windows 8.1...either you like it or hate it.

Nice, But NOT FOR GOOGLE DOCS

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

A nifty little laptop, does some neat tricks in configuration between a laptop and a tablet, and with it's touchscreen does not penalize my iPad-trained tendency to touch the screen of all laptop and desk top computers. So far so good. Recently my employer ditched Microsoft Windows products and put us on a strict Google Docs diet. Chrome books were passed out like Pez, and the few windows computers still around had their Microsoft products stripped and their Admin locked down. More unfortunately, I have mission critical hardware that runs ONLY on a Windows or MacOS (not chrome book, not iOS#. After six months of no install on the needed driver nor provision of a hardware compatible computer, I put this cool little windows-based "tab-top" on a credit line and got down to doing my job with my hardware. Except, and EVEN MORE UNFORTUNATELY, the Lenovo does not like to play nice with Google Chrome, which means no google sheets or docs or slides or any of that. Sigh. And its not lime this is a new problem -- forum threads go back at least three years, so it coulda been fixed. But no joy. So as soon as I finish typing this review -- in Internet Explorer #!) -- its back in the box and back to Best Buy. If you are free of the scourge of Google docs consider it; its a nifty little machine. I wanted to love this skinny "lap-tablet" with its seductive touch-screen, but every body is trying to be the new defacto standard and its the wild west again, Its lie the 80s and 90s before Microsoft conquered the world and generic window boxes got cheap.

I really wanted to like this laptop! Even though I got it at a great price - $379.99 open box plus another 10% off - I'm returning it. It's great for watching movies, but so is my Chromebook. It's great for web browsing and basic office functions, but so is my Chromebook. The batter life at 50% brighness is way less than expected. The machine is slow! Plan on leaving it on overnight for any major windows updates. It will take forever to download them, and even longer to install! Playing basic Microsoft "XBOX" games from the store such as chess or backgammon is even sluggish. I actually got better performance out of my Dell Venue Pro 64gb windows tablet. I'll keep my Chromebook for travel and my 14" 2nd gen I3 if I absolutely positively need windows! The design is great, but I would definetly spend the money for an I3 or I5 if performance is a priority and you don't have a world of time to wait for it to complete tasks.

I had purchased an hp 360. Hated it. Best buy exchanged it for another in case it was defective. Still no good. I went back. Exchanged for the Lenovo yoga. Holy smokes. Like night and day. Faster by a mile. Lighter. Longer battery. If you are deciding between the two. Go with the Lenovo

this laptop is awesome!! and coming from a macbook pro with retina display, is a big deal (which i had to sell). everyone is saying this laptop is a little slow? not sure what they mean.. its pretty fast and is handling everything i need it to do so far. the best part of the laptop is its IPS display, yes the resolution isnt that of the retina macbook pro, but looks pretty darn good compared to almost all other laptops who lack an IPS display. it is super bright and clear, and the viewing angles are awesome, especially when watching a movie or looking at pictures. the 360 thing is pretty neat, it can go from a regular looking notebook to a stand, to a tablet. **make sure to turn off the adaptive display setting under the power settings, otherwise the max brightness is only 50% , can be changed so the screen isnt so dark at 100%

Having upgraded from a dell insperon this laptop/tablet is worlds behond in design, performance, convenience. The touch screen is amazing and the option to still have a high quality keyboard is fantastic. Not to mention a great value. This model has no disk drive. they do offer disk drive in higher priced models.

    Surprisingly Quick and versatile

I am a very performance oriented power user and was skeptical of the "Intel Pentium" process that came with this device. I had to dig deep on Intel's website to even find mention of any current models. However, due to the price difference and overall comparable ancillary features and specs, I decided to give this device a try. When it was on sale there was over $150 difference to upgrade to an i3 so it was worth the risk. I have to say, this was a pleasant surprise as you don't run into the same bottlenecks that you often find with value priced laptops in the sub-$500 range. The tablet to notebook function work very well overall and I do not find myself running into any slow downs or delays due to the CPU (This is after removing all of the typical bloatware, unnecessary stuff that comes pre-installed and Windows finishing the usual prolonged updates). This works flawless in both the tablet function (for games like Hearthstone and applications) and laptop function for typical home use including Office. I did not try any power hungry applications like PhotoShop or games of the latest generation but I tried World of Warcraft and it ran fine with middle of the road graphics and no lag. If you want something for basic use kicking around the house than this should be a great value. I do not think that you can upgrade things like the hard drive (which is bottom of the speed curve for a current drive) and the memory is soldered in so no upgrading their unless you really want to get your hands dirty.

i went ahead and bought this despite the bad review and i couldn't be happier with it. i haven't had any of the problems that person had. the only issue i've had is wifi problems, which is because of windows 8 not the computer itself, but i did get that solved with a little googling. i was a little surprised with how small the screen actually is and that was probably the only thing that made me hesitant about buying it, but i've adjusted to it and it's working out perfectly. if you're looking for a 2-in-1 laptop but not looking to spend 800-1000 dollars this is definitely worth considering.

I mainly use this computer for email, creative writing, watching movies, and listening to music. It handles these tasks fairly well. I find that some programs have a tendency to freeze or unexpectedly close - but I don't think this is the fault of the computer itself, as Microsoft is still working a lot of the bugs out of Windows 8. All in all this is a great computer for basic computing and media usage. If I had one complaint to list it would be that there is a power button is on the right-side edge of the keyboard, which is where I am used to holding my laptops when moving them or using them on my lap. This results in my turning the laptop off or hibernating it when I didn't intend to. But really, that's easily fixed on my part.

The laptop is great in that you can use it as a tablet, it is cheap and the screen is durable. Its weak points are that the keyboard is mushy, you can't upgrade the internal RAM, and the 720p screen is pretty unimpressive.
