    Solid Performance with Great Features

Overall, the laptop is solid with some minor setbacks. The main selling point in my opinion is versatility of the screen position to tablet mode. It is really nice to read a document, search the web, etc. in the tablet mode. HOWEVER, you should note that when in tablet mode the processor is throttled down and the computer does not perform as well as when it is in laptop mode. There is a very obvious difference in the speed of processing and performance, so this is definitely a drawback. The other major drawback is the screen resolution, which is abnormal and causes odd scaling for many programs. This means that some programs will open and have text so small that is almost impossible to read. Windows has a setting to correct this but it doesn't work with all programs. Lastly, the yellow color is off substantially. This doesn't bother me as much because I don't do any photo editing, etc. to require perfect coloring. However, it is very noticeable and sometimes annoying. Lenovo has not released a fix for this even though they are well aware of it. In my opinion, the laptop is priced a little too high given the performance, but if you don't mind paying the price and want the versatility of the screen position then this is your laptop.

I like the size and weight. Makes it easy to be mobile. The battery life is longer than I had expected. I get almost a whole day's use from one charge. I am still struggling with the wide screen. Pictures and games are distorted. I will probably need to change the ratio settings. I haven't gotten used to Windows 8 yet, but in time I'll get better at it. Windows 7 was much easier for me to use. The Geek Squad has proven to be worth the money I paid for their services. They have been great about helping me fix things I couldn't have done on my own.

Glad I purchased this product vs Surface Pro 3 since it was much cheaper with some better features like the traditional keyboard and more USB ports. Wish it came with a wireless mouse and a CD/DVD drive. Wish it had an option to have Windows 7 instead of the current Windows 8. Speed is great ,graphics are fine, and weight is very manageable.

I said I would never buy another PC but I did. I was convinced that only Mac was in my future but I decided to give it one more try for $500 less.. And I'm pretty happy with the result. Overall the computer works good. touchscreen is very cool and the form factor of different positions is pretty cool depending on the situation. I am in airplanes a lot and the size works great and in tablet mode I have not had to put it away for takeoff and landing although that may not always be the case. The case is good quality and the keyboard feels good too. I don't really like the touchpad though. It works fine I guess but the feel just doesn't turn me on. Battery life is good but if you use an external hard drive it will go down much quicker. Overall a good computer but i'm hoping windows 10 will make it even better. If you want a portable touchscreen PC you probably wont be disappointed.

After looking at all of the models available, this one had all of the features and characteristics I was looking for without compromising. The feel and construction is top notch, speed is excellent, and the display is wonderful. The screen size is ideal for the resolution, and I can't believe how well Windows 8.1 works on it. It's so, so fast.

Once we get all the bugs out I think I will really enjoy it. I love the light weight and the speed is great. Some times because it has such high resolution, items are very small and almost impossible to read, otherwise I enjoy using it.

It's a great laptop. My version is i7/8GB/256GSSD. The speed is fast, and the 3200x1800 resolution is very nice. The battery life isn't as long as I expect. It can only be around 4~5 hours.

This is a great laptop, light weight, fast, doesn't get too hot, and the screen looks incredible. The one thing though I have noticed is that many apps are not developed to utilize the high pixel density screens and thus look a little out-dated and fuzzy. Definitely nothing to complain about for the laptop itself, but it's something I wasn't expecting from viewing it in store.

this laptop has the best display out of all the laptop I have seen so far. one thing that I really like about its really light weight also its not hard to use especially the touch screen and how it can be folded into multiple positions. Another thing that really sold me is that it's a really tough laptop the one I have its been dropped multiple times and still looks like new great laptop recommended to anyone that's in the market for one.

The first Yoga 2 Pro crashed after registering it and going to the internet. Returned it to best buy and exchanged it for another. I've had it for 1 month now and haven't experienced any problems. Love the touch screen option. I do not use a mouse and the touch pad and be cumbersome sometimes. Haven't had it to long to use most of the other features but I'm quite impressed so far with the speed compared to the HP laptops I used in the past.

This machine is very lightweight easy to convert into tablet mode. It makes using its functions easy. it is very fast and well built. I wish they wouldn't load so many garbage programs and trial programs because it takes so much time to clean them out of the machine.

I purchased the yoga pro II w/ i7 processor based on the Best Buy representative's recommendation for my needs. My biggest concern was losing speed and responsive time. I've had it for about 2 months. I've downloaded a CAD program, AdobeXI pro, Rosetta Stone lvl 1-5, Quick Books, Microsoft Office Suite and a few smaller programs. I haven't noticed any loss in speed and/or response times. I only notice a little drop in processing speed when I'm opening my CAD program or downloading larger PDFs. However, I am working off of wi-fi so I do not imagine it to be a computer issue. Also and most importantly...I spilled a large glass of water on it the 2nd week that I had it. I immediately unplugged it and turned it off. Turned it upside down wiped it down and let it set for an hour. It works perfectly. I would give it 5 stars to date, but I've only had it for 2 months.

I bought the Lenovo Yoga 2 about 2 months ago on the recommendation of a Best Buy employee and love it so far. I'm using it primarily for work and some for personal use. The solid state drive is great! It starts up very quickly every time and I love not having to sit around waiting for Windows to load. It handles multiple business applications with ease. I typically have several Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, etc.) apps, Quickbooks, and the Internet open and see no drag in performance. Battery life is adequate to above average, I typically keep it plugged in but it will last about half a work day with all of my applications running before needing recharging. I haven't really used the touch screen feature but it is nice to have for those looking for a laptop to double as a tablet. It's very lightweight and easy to carry back and forth from/to work and home. The keyboard is very tactile and feels great to use. It does not have a DVD or CD rom drive which I haven't needed but could be a downside for some, of course you can always get an external one. Would definitely purchase again.

    Best Laptop I've Owned

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have owned the Yoga 2 Pro for about two months now. This laptop most recently replaces my previous Sony Vaio, which I bought to replace two Toshiba Satellites (all of them bought through Best Buy). This is, by far, the fastest and coolest laptop I have owned. While I enjoy the three positions this laptop can fold into (stand, tablet, and tent modes), I generally only use it as a laptop, and have only rarely used it in the tablet and stand modes (the latter is great for showing slideshows). One (of two) of the negative sides to the tablet mode is that, once the screen is flipped backwards, the keyboard is exposed. I therefore generally only use this mode if I am keeping it on my lap, to keep the keyboard safe. The other negative, for people like me who like a clean screen, is that by touching the screen you obviously get lots of finger marks on it. However, cleaning the screen with a lint-free rag is a breeze, as you can easily turn the screen off (and on) using the F9 function button. In regards to the keyboard, I like the feel of the keys (they are rather soft to the touch), the lack of sound they make when striking them, and the option to illuminate them when I am in darker areas. The mouse pad gets visibly smudgy during use, but it can be cleaned up fairly easily by wiping it with some alcohol. The scrolling is fairly responsive, but, as the mouse buttons are part of the mousepad, right/left clicking can be difficult and inaccurate. I actually now mostly use a wireless mouse I bought for this laptop, and I turn the mousepad off using one of the function (F6) buttons. The display is brilliant and sharp. I had to turn off the adaptive brightness option, as, in low light settings, the screen kept dimming and brightening when I did not want it to. I thought something was actually bad with the display, but I figured out it was just the adaptive brightness that was playing tricks with my eyes. Previous reviews were critical of the "yellow" color, suggesting it was not very true, but rather a mustard yellow. This was true, until I ran the BIOS and other updates, and now the color is much truer and does not bother me. My digital pictures, taken with my Canon Rebel T3i, display just like they did on the camera screen, which was not the case on my Sony Vaio. Both shut down and start up times are rapid, and, compared to my previous laptops, connecting to the internet is almost instantaneous after starting the machine. All low-level operations on the computer run quickly, e.g. internet browsing, listening to music, streaming, processing photos, and, so far some more demanding operations (like processing data in statistical software) are also rapid. So, while I'm not a gamer, I imagine the processing speed (it uses an Intel Core i7) is sufficient for such activities. Windows 8.1 took some getting used to, particularly switching between the Desktop and App screens. Once I was acquainted with the operating system, I do now enjoy the functionality of having apps and dedicated software programs, although I miss easily being able to access the software programs by clicking on the Windows start button. I also installed the new Office software, which works perfectly on this computer, and is much more useful (e.g. the option to upload/safe documents to Skydrive). I debated about whether or not to get this laptop, from the perspective that it is an Ultrabook. It is very slim and lightweight (I don't think quite as slim as the Mac Air, but similar in weight), but it lacks a VGA output (which I use a lot to give presentations for school), only has two USB connections, no DVD/CD drive, and only 256GB of solid state drive memory. To solve these issues, I bought a USB-VGA converter, an external DVDR drive, and 1TB external hard drive. This computer also has a micro HDMI output and a slot for SD cards, which is useful for transferring my photos from my camera to the laptop. So, while you may have to sacrifice some aspects of traditional laptops, these sacrifices can be overcome by purchasing some external devices.

I've avoided Lenovo like the plague for years because frankly the quality of Thinkpad laptops dropped like a brick after they took over production of the line. As such, I was leery about picking up this Yoga 2 for myself, but this is the first and only 2-in-1 I've found that meets my needs. I've been searching for a small, fast and light convertible with at least a 13" screen and a backlit keyboard, which has been surprisingly hard to find until now. This Yoga 2 is blazing fast, with the i7 processor, SSD and 8 GB RAM. Battery life is very good, giving me 4-6 hours of continuous power. It seems like a lot more, though, because this laptop is so fast that I've really changed the whole way I use it. My previous Dell was much slower, so unless I was transporting it I left it on pretty much all the time, and the battery life was so short I had to leave it constantly plugged in. But the Yoga takes all of a couple seconds to wake up, meaning I can leave it unplugged almost all the time, let it sleep when I'm not using it, and still have it almost instantly available when I need it. As such, I can really get a full day or more on a charge most of the time, which is great. Using the Yoga as a tablet is naturally not as easy as your typical 10 oz Surface or iPad - it is about 1.5 lbs, after all. It's very useful for short periods, but I generally don't walk around with it for very long. I do use the stand mode quite a bit though, which gives me the closer-up tablet advantage without having to hold it in my hands. If there's a complaint, it's the obvious one of having the keyboard exposed in tablet/stand mode. The keyboard and backlight are automatically disabled, which is fine, but it can be a bit awkward pressing on the keys while holding it. The bigger problem with it, though, is that the paint on the keys doesn't seem to be too durable - at some point something managed to scratch through the paint on the Shift key and expose the backlight below. It's just a cosmetic issue, but still an annoyance, especially considering there's not really any way to protect the keys in those modes. The other issue with this particular model is the 4k resolution. It's great in theory, but too many programs don't scale up properly, meaning you'll be stuck staring at some tiny little windows way too often. The screen still looks very good at the 1600x900 resolution I use, so it’s not a big deal. Overall, I've been using this for about 6 weeks now, and I’ve been very impressed so far. If all Lenovos these days are built to this level of quality, then I'd say they've come a long way. This laptop seems like a really great purchase.

This was bought for my wife for work, to replace an older vaio. So far, it is a great machine. The screen size is good...not too small, not too big. Any smaller would make it useless as a laptop. It is VERY light, weighing at least 2.5 pounds less than her old vaio. It is also very thin. It is a pleasure to handle. The screen is sharp and the colors look good. It starts up in a flash (although she doesn't have much loaded on it yet, in terms of additional software, beyond MS Office). Windows 8 requires a substantial learning curve, coming from Windows 7. Everything is different about it, and I have been struggling to get used to the changes. I like the ability to use the touch screen, which if you are going to get a computer with Windows 8, you should definitely have a touch screen. Some programs (such as Netflix) don't work via the IE...you have to load it as an "App"; that took me a while to figure it out, but once I did it works great. Setup to connect to printers and NAS was pretty easy, although I did have to load drivers from Canon's website for one printer. Hardware itself: I would buy the Yoga 2 Pro again in a second, for the right use. I don't think I would want to do any CAD work on it, with such a small screen, but regular office work is fine. The backlit keyboard is awesome, because the actual digits and letters are illuminated. It has NO DVD drive, so keep that in mind, and it does NOT have an ethernet port (WiFi only). Also, the HDMI output is a micro HDMI, not full size. All these "issues" are how they are able to make this so thin and so light. A worthwhile tradeoff. For the record, the unit has 8gb ram, 256gb SSD, and Intel core i7 processor (at 1.8ghz).
