    Incredible value

I had waited for this laptop for 3 long months. After seeing how people loved the last Yoga, I decided to wait til the new iteration came out with the new Haswell chip, and I couldn't be happier with that decision. I've had the Yoga 2 Pro for 4 days and I'm still giddy over it! Screen is truly gorgeous. Must see it to really appreciate it. Battery life is very good and I get about 6-8 hours. Not being tethered to a charger is a great thing. This lappy is super snappy making every encounter very enjoyable. The touch features of Windows 8.1, once learned, makes most tasks very efficient. Waking from sleep is almost instantaneous, I clocked cold boot at 6.5 seconds, and restart is around 14 seconds. Weight, build quality, and size are shining points as well, although minimal flex in the screen (best to grab the middle of the screen when converting between modes). Being a computer science student, having a quality keyboard is nearly paramount. The keyboard is very satisfying to code with hours on end. The backlight is a god send when I'm in the dark section of my coffee shop plucking away, and I will never get another laptop without one. There is an issue with yellow reproduction that seems to be present in every unit. The good news is the problem is solved when setting the computer to High Performance mode, meaning a software fix could resolve the issue. According to a Lenovo rep, the problem is being "formally" addressed and they may come out with a fix as early as this week. I didn't notice the problem til I read about it, and even then its only clear when you're viewing pure yellow colors. Movies, pictures and everything else are still gorgeous. If/when they do fix it, it will just be icing on the cake!

    Fantastic Convertible Laptop

What a great convertible laptop! All the positive reviews are accurate. This machine is very light, fast and seems to be well made. The two concerns I had from reading reviews have now been addressed by Lenovo. - WIFI is no longer an issue. Ours is listed as being manufactured in June 2014. This version includes an Intel dual band wireless AC card. We have great connection stability with no dropouts and excellent speed. Our router is just Wireless N, so I have not confirmed AC connection, but 5G connection is very good and completely stable at the max rate my cable modem provides. - it is true that some applications do not handle the very high resolution display. Internet games are especially problematic. That said, it is very simple to drop the resolution to 1920x1080 and everything works as expected. Use the very high resolution for most things and drop it down as needed. - Windows 8 will take a bit of time to get used to, but that is expected. Overall, if you want a Windows based ultrabook, the current Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro is about as good as it gets.

Amazing laptop blows away MBP Retina

I am a former Apple fanboy who grew tired in living on Apple's walled garden, where Apple decides what is okay for me, and hasn't brought anything innovative to the market since the first generation Ipad. Windows 8 was abrupt and not well explained, but it is a fast, easy to use, reliable operating system that doesn't box me in like OSX. Windows 8.1 takes the OS from very good, to great. It is fast, more intuitive, and just as good looking and made all the better with a QHD+ 3200x1800 350 nit bright display. With an I7 Hawell CPU, 8gb RAM, and 256gb, the price is jaw dropping. You get a computer much nicer than the Apple Macbook Pro Retina for a fraction of the price. The tech reviews were universally glowing, but they were right. This has to be the laptop product of the year. Great display, lots of ram, lots of fast ssd storage, improved tablet and laptop functions, it's a home run! Tim Cook said that combining a tablet with a laptop is like combining a toaster with a refrigerator. As for me, my new favorite treat is Toasted Ice, because Microsoft and Lenovo have pulled it off.

I have waited so long to buy the best laptop. Once I saw the Lenovo yoga 2 pro teaser ads in Lenovo web site, I have decided that this will be my laptop. I bought this laptop last Friday and so far I am amazed at the features like speed, screen resolution, light weight and zero wifi drops( yes, absolutely zero drops) and super fast connectivity. I am getting used to windows 8.1 and so far it is working well. Go for it, you will not regret for it has the gorgeous screen (better than MacBook pro retina), great 4th gen i7 processor and 8 GB RAM to run the programs. I am completely satisfied with it. Hope this helps for people who are thinking whether to buy it or not.

To start with the display on this convertible is absolutely superb. Its vibrant, fonts show up crisp, and most applications appear to be able to handle it. (although some might need some tweaking). Secondly the performance is amazing. Boot up time is a few seconds. Applications install quickly and load up almost instantly. Thirdly, it is super portable. It is really light and easy to pick up and hold in any of the modes. The fourth great thing is the convertible feature. I only use laptop mode and stand mode (which is really great for watching movies) Finally, Windows 8.1 is much improved. There are still areas that need work, but the ability to install any software, view flash videos and pretty much do whatever I want is exactly what I need

This is an amazing ultrabook. The size and weight make it perfect to travel with. Going from a Dell latitude 6520 to this, makes it seem like I am not carrying anything. Initially had the Wifi problem reported by everyone, but after updating the driver to the latest - I haven't faced any connection issues. The display is nice (haven't paid much attention to the yellow color issue mentioned by everyone). Battery life is about 7-8 hours on normal use, and 6-6.5 hours with watching video. At $1199 - i think this is a great deal, especially because lenovo's site has the same one for 1500.

Have been this excited about a computer in a while

This is the first PC I have bought in about 5 years. I have a handful of iMacs, iPads and MacBooks and have run Windows on those if needed. I wanted to take a chance on one of these Yogas as a more comfortable way to jam 12 hours of work in a day. I can lay on the couch and work on a long-term project with a tablet that is a FULL computer. I switch back and forth between touch screen and a mouse. Great thing is you have two other options; the trackpad and a stylus. Touch screen is way better than I was expecting. I have really only used iPads, so I was impressed. I don't know which touch screen is better, cause I can't tell a difference. I am using it for a very large powerpoint project and motion graphics design. I tried powerpoint on the new iPad app and it was severely limited for what I do with it. On the Yoga, it's simply the entire program. Love it. Also, since Adobe shoved me on to their subscription software service, I was able to run Photoshop, After Effects and any others. Although, there is a huge issue with font and dialog box sizes on the Yoga due to the crazy high resolution. Hopefully Adobe will fix that. Value for Price - I compare it to my Apple products. For this amount of computer, plus touch screen, plus 256 SSD, its a much better value. Display - Looks amazing....obviously with the resolution. I have noticed some aliasing on text in a web browser though.... Performance - Good processor along with the SSD, makes it pretty fast. It's not hyper-threading or anything like that, but then again, you shouldn't really be using this to render out a video project anyway. Convenience - Use it anywhere, in any position. This is a serious factor for me. I took the time to write this, so it must mean I am very happy with it. (just thought about it and I've never reviewed an Apple product of mine) If you use serious apps and need the power with flexibility, get this lapto....tabl....thing!

    Best Laptop with Pure Power

If you are like me you have probably owned a few laptops and never been terribly impressed. Unless you have the money to spend on Alienware most laptops are underpowered, don't have much memory, and are pretty bulky. This laptop will change the way you think about laptops. While I admire the advances of Mac computers, like most people, I need a Windows operating system. Fortunately the competitive environment has moved Windows PC's into the 21st century. The Yoga 2 Pro is as light as a Mac Air but blows it out of the water with pure power and memory to boot. It has an i7 processor that runs at 3.0 ghz in Turbo mode! Eat that Mac Air with your little i5 processor. On top of that the SSD makes this thing boot faster than Alienware computers running raid 0 configurations. Next up, its a convertible! Ever been stuck on an airplane with a tray so close to you that you cant see your laptop screen? On the Yoga 2 Pro, you can flip to tablet mode, tent mode, or even stand it up and bend it backwards so you can view your screen! You wont ever be able to buy a standard laptop again after this. Finally there is battery life. Again, thanks to a competitive marketplace, mobile devices, tablets, and apple has made everyone step up their game. When I go to a coffee shop with my Lenovo Yoga 2 pro I have about 6 hours of constant use with the internet on and mixed video/media content. You can get more or less depending on how bright you want to go with your screen. If you enable the typical sleep profile you can leave your Yoga 2 sitting around the house turned on, much as you would a iPad. Folks, its finally here. A laptop with power, memory, and lighter than air. I loved it so much I bought my wife one. Go out and get this. BestBuy has a return policy so if you don't agree, take it back! But you will be happy you got this. -Just be prepared to buy one for your wife or husband after you see what it can do. ;)

This is a screaming fast laptop for general use (put aside games), I think faster than my wife's Dell XPS 13 with an i7 and SSD. The super high resolution screen really pops out at you. The wireless problem in earlier models has been fixed. I love the tablet feature. For what I use it for I do not care if the keys stick out a bit. My favorite is putting the tablet form on a tablet stand and watching TV on it. With it so close to my face it is like watching a super big screen TV. The first downside is yellow looks like mustard. Test this out using Paint and looking at and drawing with yellow. I tried all the fixes on he internet and only got a small improvement. But for some reason this does not make a significant difference. I pulled up a picture with yellow dandelions on my and my wife's computer. They looked the same color. For some reason mine had more detail (the picture was 1920 x 1080, same resolution as my wife's screen). The second downside is not all programs take advantage of the high resolution. A good example is my Nook software. I was looking forward to reading Time magazine on my Yoga, but the software can only take advantage of 1920 x 1080. Still totally looks great, but I am still reading one page at a time.

I had been debating a new laptop to replace my old ASUS 17" for awhile. I wanted something with a good battery life, smaller than the monster 17", and easy to travel with. One of the primary purposes would be to take along on vacation and trips to be used to view photos taken and also to email those photos back to family and friends. Thus, I also wanted something with a nice screen to match my Canon 5D Mark III. When the Yoga Pro 2 was announced it became my top choice. I loved the idea of the high res screen, the light weight, and its decent battery life. I was concerned by the "yellow" issue reported by many. Now that I have had the chance to use and test out the Yoga Pro, I am not sorry I bought it. The screen is great. Yes, the yellow is off if you go into a program like word or paint and call it up to view and compare with other screens. But the main concern I had was if the yellow would affect photos viewed on the screen. I can say it does not. I have very high resolution photos I have taken and when viewed on the Yoga, they look great. Out of the box everything worked well. No WIFI issues however I did go to the Lenovo site and update to all the current drivers. I am very pleased so far with the Yoga Pro 2. This is my first SSD laptop and WOW, does it make a big difference in speed.

I had been waiting to purchase this laptop for a while, but couldn't find one with 8 gig of ram anywhere. I bought a Sony Vaio Pro, and sure enough, the Yoga 2 became available. I returned the Vaio Pro to Sony and bought the Yoga 2 at Best Buy, and glad I did. No disappointments here, this laptop is lighting fast! The few bugs that others have mentioned earlier have been resolved. In a perfect world, the battery could last a little longer, or like the Sony have the ability to add a sheet battery to double runtime, but no big deal, this is just too nice of a machine to complain. All in all, if you are looking at this model, but hesitating because of the initial complaints, I would go for it, you will be glad you did. In my opinion its the best bang for your buck, and you can't go wrong with Lenovo.

My first non-Mac in years. The screen is every bit as good as my MacBook Pro Retina. The computer is fast, quite, runs cool, and the touch screen is very responsive. I almost returned it on day one because the touchpad did not work well. With a lot of fine tuning I have it working like the one in my MacBook. The screen is great and very bright, but in order to have a bright screen the battery only lasts a few hours. Good for a laptop, but poor for a tablet. If you are Mac user who needs to also use Windows, this is a great option.

Meets all of my criteria in an ultrabook

I have a desktop PC, an old netbook, and a 1st-gen iPad, but I wanted a portable machine that allows me to do real work and therefore have been interested in an ultrabook, in particular a Haswell 2-in-1 that would give me the option of carrying just 1 device when I travel. The Y2P met those criteria (another machine on my short list was the Dell XPS 12), and I'm still thrilled with my purchase after nearly 3 weeks. It has already traveled with me to a work conference and it performed great (I got several positive comments about it at the conference, incidentally#. I primarily use the Laptop and Stand modes, but the Tablet mode also served me well when I needed it. Once I acclimated to, and customized, the trackpad, it works well for me. It is very quiet, and does not run hot. The screen is super sharp and a joy to look at, and even small type is very readable. That said, I have not come across a practical need for the QHD+ resolution personally, and probably would have accepted a lower resolution screen if it would aid prolonging battery life. The onboard Intel GPU also means that your desktop gaming experience may be limited #although, Asphalt 8 from the Windows Marketplace plays great if that's meaningful to anyone reading this#. Pragmatically though, I'm fine with it at this price point. Regarding some widely reported issues: I immediately updated Windows after the OOBE and have not experienced dropped wifi, although I do suspect that the range is not great #has not been an issue for me so far). And although I do detect a darker-than-normal yellow, it doesn't particularly bother me personally and it does appear to be much improved after I installed the BIOS+Energy Manager updates. In summary, it is well-built, light, good value, a fair occasional tablet, great entertainment / media consumption device, great Windows 8 device, and it allows me to do real work.

I was looking for a 2 in 1 that I could take apart. After buying a Toshiba P35W-B3226 and having to return it twice for different reasons, I decided to give this Lenovo a try. I must say, I absolutely love it! I have had it for about a month now and have had zero issues with it! It is an amazing machine! Incredibly fast and can handle anything I throw at it. I can honestly say that would highly recommend this 2 in 1 to anyone that is looking for a 2 in 1.

This was my first laptop purchase in 2 years. I was looking at the Acer S7, Macbook Air, Surface Pro 2, Yoga 2 Pro, and an HP ultrabook (forget which one). After extensive research, I decided the Yoga 2 Pro was the one for me. In the end it came down to the Macbook Air or the Yoga 2 Pro. The reason why I chose the Yoga 2 Pro over the MBA was because: 1. Touchscreen 2. I've historically used Windows 3. Loved the Yoga's cool form-factor And the reason I bought the laptop from Best Buy instead of anywhere else is because the price here is amazing! For the same specs on the Lenovo website you'd have to pay $300 more. You can't find a laptop with 8 GB ram, 256 SSD, and i7 processor for this cheap. I've had the laptop for 3 months now, and I love it. I can go from completely off to using programs in 11 seconds. The screen and touchpad are very responsive. The keyboard feels nice. You've got a winner.

So I've owned many Lenovo laptops since 2008 and had a Thinkpad T430s for about 1.5 years (long time for me). I wanted to upgrade to something a little more sexy, travel friendly and slim but didn't want to lose performance. I was going to go with a Thinkpad Yoga but the unresolved ghosting issues on the 12.5 screen made me consider other laptops. I strongly considered the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus but the newer M.2 SSD form factor only has a 512 gb HD option where the Yoga 2 Pro's mSATA form factor can upgrade to 1TB so this was the clear choice as I require a lot of space. Also it does the whole flip/tent/touch pad thing which I really like. Here are the positives -Really thin, very good palm rest and pretty good looking. - It's the same as the T430s with the extra 3 cell battery in the dvd drive bay which is about 5-6 hours with moderate use. - Good sound for the size. - Better keyboard than the other ultrabooks I tried and it's not that bad a transition from a thinkpad with an exceptional keyboard. Also the backlighting is really cool. I want to leave it on all the time even when I don't need it. -Very Fast for how thin it is. Scored higher on than my old T430s with a 3rd gen i5. - I also like that it uses the mSATA form factor so you can upgrade to a 1 TB Samsung mSATA but I already mentioned this as the deciding factor. Upgrade was super easy. -Pretty good price compared to other laptops with this performance. - I love the super high resolution screen and it takes a while to adjust when I move back to my 1080p monitor at my desk. It looks fuzzy for a while and can't wait t until I can buy a reasonably priced higher resolution monitor. - Limited Bloatware - Starts up super fast - The yoga part was actually an afterthought but I'm using it more than I thought I would. It's become a work and play laptop. - Has the newer 2x2 wireless card and it works great with my home network. I have some small issues though. - Micro HDMI doesn't work with RocketFish cables and some other cables as well. It doesn't make it all the way in so you have to angle it up to get it to work. It's kind of hit or miss with micro hdmi cables but Cable Matters works just fine. - When I hook it up to my 1080p monitor at my desk I have to change the scaling which means I have to log out and close all my programs. I can't just unplug from the monitor and take it to a different place in the house. Hopefully I can find an easier way to do this. - Some programs don't scale well with this super hd screen so it's a little tough to use them. However most programs I use scale pretty well. It takes out some of the glory of the super hd screen. - Not quite as sturdy as my thinkpad (of course) but also not quite as sturdy as the Samsung. It doesn't feel delicate though but just a little more flimsy than the others. - Don't like the non upgradable memory but 8gb will be enough for this laptop. I like how thin it is though and that's the price you have to pay for all laptops this size these days. - Some programs don't scale to this high resolution but it's bearable. - Not a fan of the silver or Clementine orange color and would of liked to see a gunmetal grey or something non-mac but still cool looking. - Lenovo should include a USB to Ethernet port with the laptop like Samsung ATIV 9 does. - Not really a complaint but just a suggestion to other readers who don't like windows 8 or 8.1. It's best to download Start 8 if you don't like the laptop interface. It makes the computer act like windows 7 except it's faster. - Iv'e owned many Lenovo laptops and their customer support is pretty poor. If you have an issue you will need someone else to solve it or solve it yourself. They can replace broken parts but it takes a while. All in all a great little lap top (especially for the price) that's just fun to own. It's got great performance but just doesn't feel serious like a think pad does. The positives outweigh the negatives for me and I can't stop playing around with it even when I'm done with my work.

    Love it so far

I've only had this computer for a week so far and I love it. I'll come back and update if I find any real negatives, but for now, it's all positive. For the past 5 years I had an HP pavilion dv6, and I really liked it. I never would have expected a laptop to have lasted me as long, and stayed as relevant as it did. The screen just recently went out, and since I have been too lazy to try to replace it, I use it as a desktop now with an external monitor. With that being said, I was really ready to try one of these hybrid types, and I was torn between this Lenovo Yoga 2, and the HP Spectre x2. I really liked how the Spectre made a nice transition and the feel of it, but ultimately I was attracted to the sexy specs of the Lenovo. To get the i7 over the i5, 8g memory over 4g, and twice as much hard drive space, for essentially just $100-$150 more, I couldn't say no in the end. I haven't had any of the issues others have mentioned regarding the wireless or the yellow issues (not even really sure what they mean, so perhaps mine is not experiencing it). It is super light, and there is literally almost no wait time on bootup or opening and closing programs, I love that aspect, as it is a first for me. The battery is also far more than any computer I have experienced from a PC. So far I am getting 5 to 6 hours of actual use out of it before I plug it in, it is so nice to be able to carry it around and use it without having to feel like I need to be plugged in at all times. Windows 8 definitely took some getting used to, but it is really nice to have that app option for so many things rather than having to use a browser for everything like you did in past windows OS's. Once you get the hang of everything and the new mouse functions it is quite nice and efficient. So far I don't really have any complaints, other than it is not as nice as I had hoped to hold it as a tablet (the weight is not even so it feels "top heavy"). The two other touchscreen only modes are very nice though, if you need to set it on the desk or counter, or chill out with it on the couch; you don't really need to hold it up the whole time like you would with a tablet.

Great product with a couple of hiccups

First off, this machine is just really comfortable to use. Super-lightweight, and a great form factor. Lenovo has made huge deal about "tent mode", "tablet mode", etc -- but I find that the most common way I use it isn't even in their "mode" list: I can fold it completely flat (180 degrees) and kick back with it on my couch like a newspaper. Super comfortable with a computer as light and solid as this one. The touch response is excellent, and the display is exceptional. I was wary of the yellow color issue people discussed with this model early on, but I have seen no hint of it. The near-quad-hd resolution can, however, create a few issues with programs that don't scale properly (hopefully that issue will fade with time as manufacturers adapt to the latest generation of displays). I guess that's the price you pay for being as far ahead of the pack as this machine is, display-wise. The one big issue I did have with this product, however, was the out-of-the-box power-saver settings. Many people have complained about intermittent bluetooth failures, and the initial power settings are the reason why. You need to go into the bluetooth driver settings and uncheck the box that allows Windows to shut down the service to save power. That is what is causing the bluetooth to cut out "randomly" for so many people. Once this setting was fixed, the bluetooth has worked flawlessly for me. Same goes for the wifi driver settings, although clearly the wifi hardware could have been built a little stronger (search youtube and you will find hardware hacks to improve this if it is really an issue to you). Overall, I'm extremely happy with this purchase, and it's a welcome upgrade from my soon-to-be-retired desktop pc.

I've had many tablet convertibles (ASUS android transformer, Lenovo Helix, Surface Pro+Type Keyboard) and none have the "one machine to rule them all" like this one has. While it is large and heavy for a tablet, I find I just set it on my lap and tilt the screen up, so I'm not constantly using one hand to hold and the other to touch which is awesome. It gets slightly warm when running an intensive game, but not uncomfortable like the Surface Pro or Helix would, and battery life is better than either. While the res is overkill, once you set up your scaling correctly, it really makes a difference in readability. Yes, the color yellow is more of a gold, but frankly that is a minor nit unless you are doing professional graphics. It's mostly noticeable since windows uses pure yellow quite a bit. In photos and videos and games, I don't notice it at all.

Cheaping out on WiFi ruined a great laptop.

Unboxing the Yoga Pro 2 brought a smile to my face. It looked like a great machine. When I turned it on the screen looked amazing as well and was happy I had purchased it. My disappointment started when I tried to connect to my home network and found it only had 2.4Ghz WiFi. The 4 year old laptop this was meant to replace had 5 GHz. As I liked the rest of the Yoga so much I carried on. After a day or so we noticed it would drop WiFi connections and sometimes the only way to fix it was to restart it. We were having other WiFi issues with our phones and old MacBook pro the Yoga was replacing, so I bought a Netgear Nighthawk. Since the router upgrade the phones and MacBook have worked flawlessly. The Yoga worked for some light use, but then started to drop connections again. I upgraded to the latest driver and also looked on the Lenovo forums. It seems like lots of people are having the same issue. I followed the link for the driver Lenovo recommended upgrading to, but it didn't help. It was returned for a Sony Fit 13s. It has a smaller hard drive and is i5 instead of i7 for the same price, but the WiFi is 5GHz and has worked flawlessly. It's also lighter, more compact and hides the keys in tablet mode. All in all happy with the Sony Fit 13a. Without a WiFi connection, any laptop is pretty much useless for me. I don't understand a manufacturer investing so much in such a great product, only to cheap out on the WiFi card. I'd have happily paid $50 more, or got i5 instead of i7 for a WiFi that works. I do want to say a big thanks to best buy for swapping the Yoga for the Sony Fit. I thought I had 30 days to return it, but found out on day 16 that we only had 15 days, so it was past the return days.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
