    I'm in Love.

After Lenovo told me it was going to be another 7 weeks until they shipped, I canceled my order, found it on Best Buy and had it in my loving arms in 2 days. For the specs, the price can't be beat. It's extremely portable and I love that I can just throw it in my bag and hardly feel the weight compared to a clunky laptop I was hauling around the city. I've had this for a week now and have had no wifi issues at all on multiple wifi connections. Again, no wifi issues, so maybe some people lucked out? The yellow color issue is visible but Lenovo confirmed this week a update is coming very shortly to fix it. Anyways, I love it - happy with purchase.

This is one fantastic ultrabook. Great keyboard and display. Once I turned off most of the W8 stuff and got my desktop setup it is very usable. Runs cool with probably the best display I have seen. Text is razer sharp and it needs to be because of the reduced font size. Touch pad response is excellent, still trying to get used how W8 reacts to various gestures. Only had the unit a day now but it is already high on my favorites list.

    I really like it but...

I really like this laptop and even though it isn't perfect I am happy enough with it to keep it. It's a very nice looking laptop with one of the best trackpads I've used on PC laptop. I don't feel that the screen is too big to be used as a tablet and I really like using the keyboard as a stand when using this while sitting on a couch. It's much more comfortable that the positions I end up with when trying to use a tablet on my legs. Having WiDi which works with my LG TV is pretty cool and will probably be useful at some point. I do have a couple complaints though. First, this is not compatible with 5Ghz WiFi which is a bummer. With 2.4Ghz being so crowded where I live I get much better performance on 5Ghz. My S4 and Asus gaming laptop work with it so I was disappointed to find that this laptop would not. But I can live with it. Sadly, even though this computer has a beautiful 3200x1800 screen, Windows and most applications are not ready for it. I tried tweaking things to work at that resolution but unless you only use a couple programs on this it probably won't work out that way. Disabling high DPI scaling helps with most applications but will make certain graphical elements too small. With scaling on the text often looks like it's on a 640x480 screen. It's very pixelated which is pretty ironic. For now I'm running this laptop at 1920x1080 with scaling turned off for most applications. This works out pretty well. Hopefully this situation will improve over time.

The laptop is a keeper. I did have the Lenovo Y50 but decided to return it for this one and I am glad I did. The screen is just unbelievable, both in clarity and viewing angle. This is a great laptop for a plane, especially if you are crammed back in coach. Speeds have been really great even with the loaded software. You think 256GB is small because others offer 500GB or 1TB, but look at your computer now and see how much you are using and that'll tell you if this is enough. There are a couple things I do not like about this laptop, but just not enough to get rid of it because some are adjustable. The screen comes pre-set on auto-dimmer somewhat like a phone but it is changeable just google it. Sometimes certain programs have insanely small text because of the resolution of the screen and even if you lower the resolution to make it bigger, the program keeps it small. The laptop does come with a magnifier program to use to blow up the text (yes it is that small) but using it is kind of a hassle. I shouldn't have to load a program for this program but not that program. I am in my 30s not 60s, I do not want to use a magnifier when I don't even need glasses. That being said, I deal with it because I know it is from the screen resolution. I wish the power button was on top of the keyboard like other laptops, it is on the side near the front; it is both small and in an awkward position. Lastly I wish there was another USB, I do not need 10, but 3 would have been nice.

    Excellent hardware in general

I have been blown away by this machine - it is everything I had hoped for and more. The screen is gorgeous, the weight is perfect and feel comfortable to use. The hinges on the display feel solid and I'm not worried about them falling apart in a few months. The performance is like you'd expect from any other Intel 4th gen platform based notebook with great battery life - the battery easily survives a few days on standby and almost a day of moderate use. My only real gripe is the included radio which is a single band Intel 7260. I would have happily paid another $50 for the ac version. Incidentally, the better card can be had on ebay for about $30 and takes 10 minutes to install so its not an absolute deal-breaker, but I shouldn't have to open up a new machine to install a replacement radio. Other than that, I have not experienced any issues with wifi / touchpad / display etc. FWIW, I also have a Macbook Air for work and I would recommend this over the Air.

High res screen not ready for prime time

The Yoga Pro 2 is a solid computer with a beautiful high resolution screen that would likely be great for streaming, photography, social media, etc.; however, we didn't have one long enough to find out. The first one had a non-functional touchscreen and was exchanged. The second Yoga worked fine and migration from old laptop to new, although time consuming, went well. It went well, that is, until we found out that at least three of our required programs could not handle the high resolution screen. I had read about this problem, as well as reports about wifi connectivity issues and screen flicker, but didn't realize how bad the problem really is until seeing it first-hand. (On the plus side, we had no connectivity issues or screen flicker.) We experienced the resolution problem with several programs my wife uses daily: Microsoft Expression Web 4, Quicken, and a music score writer. These programs presented various symptoms such as windows with text so small it was barely readable, windows that were too small, work areas inside windows that were inconsistent, fonts that were too large and too small in the same window, basically all the symptoms of programs that simply were not written to take advantage of a screen of this resolution. Chrome worked fine because Chrome had previously been enhanced to adapt to the resolution. It's impossible to predict if a program will work or not and we decided that the Yoga Pro 2 was not acceptable for our intended use. Most of a day was spent reading about possible solutions and tweaking parameters, all to no avail. We hoped we could find a compromise solution in there somewhere because that screen is simply stunning. For people staying within the Windows App framework the Yoga 2 Pro is probably satisfactory. For those who work outside of the Windows App environment, however, the results are unpredictable and for that reason we cannot recommend this computer. We returned the Yoga Pro 2 for a different ultrabook with 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Initially I was very skeptical about buying an open box item, concerned about missing accessories or a much shorter warranty, but Best Buy policy is excellent. Open box was identical to a sealed box product and I could return it in 14 days if unsatisfied. This ultrabook is fast due to solid state drive and quick processor.

Great screen, value and versatility BUT QA issues.

Great laptop! Coming from a Mac, Windows 8 is an attractive OS. One negative I noticed right-away was the bloatware installed in the system. Screen is amazing! I like the versatility (bendable) and the touchscreen. Blazing speed and fast fast fast. I got the i7 8G 256 HD. 2 days later, my laptop keyboard kept blinking. Screen is blank. I tried hard reset to no avail. Left it ON overnight to see if it resolves itself - nope. Dead. I've had a very old white Macbook that has been dropped many times and the machine still kept ticking......... this QA issue really left a bad taste in my mouth for Lenovo (my first machine from them) and Windows in general. I was going to replace it for the same system but then I asked myself "Why?". For a bit more money, I can get a system that has been reliable with excellent customer support. As the saying goes, for a bit more money, you only cry once. Hopefully Lenovo gets their act together. A quick google search showed that this is not an isolated incident. I will give Lenovo another chance on my next upgrade cycle - 5 years.

    Overrated and unreliable

Purchased new in March 2014 from BB. Fortunately I purchased technical support. I am not a heavy user. Within 9 months the hard drive failed and had to be replaced completely. It took three weeks through the Geek Squad to have the computer repaired. I have lost confidence in this high priced product and would not recommend it to anyone. There are more reliable and better priced models available in the convertible format.

    Excellent Hardware...Buggy Software

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Ok, the hardware is amazing. Great build, feels good. There are really no complaints. All my issues appear to be software related. I don't usually post reviews but I have been waiting on this laptop and wanted to share for people like me who are kind of picky. So I will just get right to the cons because that's what matters right. Touchpad scrolls in what I guess is called the "natural direction" and the settings don't allow you to change it. Resolution is really too big for normal everyday use. When changing it the browser doesn't always show an accurate read of the display screen size. Its current set to 1900 x 1050 and IE reads it as 1280 x 720. Also when I set the screen lid close behavior to "do nothing" it treats it as a tablet it appears. Not the worst thing but its interesting. I don't blame this on chrome but chrome doesn't seem to like this large resolution. The tabs window only stretches about 1/3 the way across the chrome window even though there is a ton of space. Another note on Chrome, the touch screen doesn't work with on my laptop. It registers all touches about an inch up and to the left. Those are the really weird annoying things I have found. I cant decide if I should hold on to it because of the amazing hardware and hold out for software updates or return it and hold on to my cash until they get it together. Windows 8.1 could be the blame also. Who knows. I would love to recommend this but its really buggy. The price point is awesome but I don't know....

This ultrabook was a little more than I wanted to spend but I can't complain about the performance! The 3200/1800 screen resolution is crisp and easy to read! The 8GB of ram and I7 has quickly tackled any task throw its way and multi tasked like a champ! I own a Windows 8 phone so I was already familiar with the interface and it was easy to use right of of the box. Other than the price it does still have a problem with displaying true yellow but I really only noticed it because other reviews pointed it out.

enough has been said about the great features of this computer. just want to add a coupe items based on my using it as my production work computer. 1) if you use an external monitor through HDMI, then the battery life can easily last a whole day from 8:30 to 5. and at 5pm, usually I still got more than 20% of battery left. so I only charge it at night, bring it to work in a sleeve, no need for power cable, what an easy life! 2) I am amazed by the openness and robustness of this computer / windows8.1. I have 4 vpns setup and all working on this computer (1 open vpn and 3 cisco vpns), 2 database access clients and database servers for both SQlServer and MySQL and many old applications developed long time ago for big corps .... 3) connect to wired network with USB ethernet converter, (but that will consume more battery than wireless)

    Excellent Ultra/Convertible System

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a great convertible ultrabook. I've followed the release of this product for a few months and heard a number of WiFi issues along with the mustard yellow color on the display. I took a chance and grabbed the machine when it was finally available for shipping to store (they are either in high demand or production levels have been slow). At this price point, this is by far the best machine in the market. My machine had a 10/31/2013 production date and felt very confident that they would have addressed the WiFi issues. However, yellow appears like a mustard yellow. Personally, this is ok given that I am not into photo editing or perform any work that would be sensitive to the color issue. Hopefully this gets resolved with some patch from Lenovo. In the interim, this is an overall great system. WiFi works flawlessly and I got all my apps installed and sync'd with the cloud in less than two hours.

    Decent ultrabook, fair tablet

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Overall nice ultrabook, especially for everyday computing. If you're looking for mobility, good wifi and an okay Win tablet, this is a good value. I think the touch pad is much nicer than many I've tried, but in general, I don't like them and disable them. I have a number of issues with it, but overall, I think the good outweighs the bad. I didn't expect stellar performance from the dual core processor, even though it is an i7. Even still, I was disappointed with its performance. For my purposes, I should've waited for a Broadwell version. The backlit keyboard has only one brightness setting. When viewing the keyboard from an angle, the illumination is not even and is distracting. This makes it look unattractive and cheaply made--which is not the case when it is unlit. I found that I had to completely power it off before putting it into a carrying case. Otherwise, it would overheat quickly and enough to possibly damage it. The display can be aggravating when using different applications and you may have to fool with the settings to essentially decrease the resolution so that some GUI elements are large enough to be usable. Fortunately, the Windows 8.1.1 update came out when I bought it and I updated immediately. It is usable, though still annoying because of the "charms" and changes to the configuration settings. I have yet to find how to change the display contrast levels.

The yellow color issue is definitely fixed with a BIOS upgrade. Great value for the money, Excellent performance and display a sleek product by Lenovo. The only weak points are 6.5 hrs battery and it is heavy for tablet mode. With ultra books looks like windows 8 will bring back customers to Microsoft. Love the product.

    Very Happy With This Product

Just bought this laptop yesterday and I haven't been able to put it down since. I transitioned from the MacBook (which I've been using for years) to this, and I'm very happy so far. You get so much more bang for your buck with this computer compared to the MacBook: dual tablet-laptop feature, lightweight, i7, more space... the list goes on. What's also nice about the Lenovo is that there are several similar models (with less space or an i5), so if you can't spend this much money on a laptop, there are other great options available. My only minor complaints are the small keys and the fingerprints. I'm used to the MacBook keys, which are a little bigger, but I'm sure I'll get used to the Lenovo keys with more use. As for the fingerprints, it seems as though this computer attracts them a lot (which is normal considering it's also a touch screen). I'd make sure my hands are clean before using, otherwise the appearance may deteriorate quickly. Overall, if you're looking to buy a new laptop, I would totally recommend this one!
