Great Laptop w/ a few flaws

The goods: I love love this laptop for the value. Other laptops w/ these specs are much more expensive. I like the different modes I can use the the laptop in and how light it feels. It's very portable. Resolution is fantastic. The bads: The color yellow is not correct. It's a mustard-y yellow. Wifi connectivity is horrible! It consistently drops me out. I have 3 other computers at home and they dont have any problems loading and downloading stuff. The off yellow color doesnt really bother me, but the wifi connection does. I'm paying 1200 for a mid range laptop. I expect it to fare better than my older and cheaper computers.

Fails to start 3 weeks after purchase

The Yoga 2 Pro is a beautiful lightweight laptop. The display is fabulous, assuming your software knows how to render high-dpi icons or you have super-perfect eyesight. The battery life is great. The touchpad is trigger happy and it doesn't take much more than hand wave to get a mouse click to change your focus. The built in webcam produces dim images. My Yoga 2 Pro, however, appears to be a lemon and refuses to start after only 3 weeks of use. A quick Google search shows that the problem is common. This is my second Lenovo laptop in 8 years/4 computers, and the second to fail quickly.

    best value ultrabook

This is the best value ultrabook this year, especially at Bestbuy's price. $1200 for i7-4500u, 8BG RAM, 256GB SSD and 3200x1800 display. The early yellow reproduction issue has been fixed by a BIOS and energy manager update.

    Computer is good but...

Computer is good but if you decide to get a warranty get one from BestBuy (Geek squad) or Square trade, DO NOT get Lenovo warranty under no circumstances. Worse service ever and they will not honor what you paid for. I purchased 3yr IN HOME ACCIDENT protection which covers everything, they were supposed to replace my battery (battery died as computer was not used but 5,6 times in a year) and their "tech" killed my computer. He replaced my new board with refurb and killed refurb as well. Lenovo is not doing anything. Worst service ever!

    Not Worth The Price

I've had this for about a year now and I completely regret buying it. I bought it last December and less than a year in, in October, the fan started making a horrendously loud motor noise that wouldn't stop unless i put the computer to sleep and it kept happening more and more frequently until I had to send it into Lenovo to get it fixed. Now my bluetooth had completely disappeared, even when i search it in settings, where it used to be it's no longer there, like I never had it to begin with. I spent 1,300 on this laptop to avoid issues like this and so it's very surprising to see them happening so soon after I bought it. On the plus side it's lightweight and easy to transport.

    major problems

Best Buy has been great with handling the problems. Lennovo has know about their software problems for several weeks. My laptop screen keeps going "black", it is due to some of the software Lennovo put on the computer. The first time Lennovo told me it was a Microsoft problem, lie. This time Geek Squad is removing the the bad Lennovo software. Could not connect laptop to my cell hotspot, another software issue. Charger does not work 50% of the time. Had the laptop two months, too late to bring it back.

I am amazed how lenovo engineers paid no attention to the details of the colors at such high resolution. Yellow especially being a total disaster. Hate to say it but I don't think a software update can fix this hardware issue

    Returned

I had to return this computer. The internet card was not functioning properly. The connection would continuously drop out. It would take 10 minutes to download software that should take 20 seconds. Suffice it to say, streaming any type of media was impossible. Windows 8.1 is complete garbage, and I fear the day that I have to implement this trash in my business. I will stick with Win 7 as long as humanly possible. I did not do an exchange as they were not in stock. I may order online again, but I do have a bad taste in my mouth that is hard to ignore.

    Watch out!

Received new Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro last evening, set it up this morning, was away from my desk for an hour (leaving the computer cover open with Lenovo turned on), returned to find the Lenovo asleep or hibernating ("on" button and illumination under keyboard flashing about every five seconds). Nothing I could do to wake it up. I did a hard shut-down (hold the on button down for a long time), re-started the Lenovo. Instead of booting up it seemed to go directly into sleep or hibernation mode without actually turning on. Looking at the various blogs and user groups, seems lots of people have similar kinds of trouble with this computer. This not the kind of "moment of truth" a company like Lenovo wants to have with its key customers. If the only solution is take it back to Best Buy, I probably won't get another one. Because if something like this happens this early, what other problems are lurking with this model?

The wifi is worst. It keeps getting disconnected. Have finished around 5 calls with customer support already. One common solution to all the problem seems to be a restore to factory setting(which doesnt really work) Have done this factory restore twice. I wont accept it as a solution third time in 3 months.YOU ARE NOT LIVING IN 90s ON DIAL UP or CONNECTING TO WIFI ONLY ONCE IN A FULL MOON. You need wifi everyday especially for a portable device. Spend ~$1150 and still scratch your head everyday

    Big Bluetooth problems!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really wanted to keep this laptop but the problems with the Bluetooth is just to much. You get it working then it would stop. You would have to go back into Bluetooth setup about every 20 mins or so. Then it would not even show up at all. I mean you wouldn't have the Bluetooth Icon. I even reloaded a fresh copy of windows on it and still the same thing. I tried every driver out there and still had all the same problems. If you Google it you will see everyone is having this problem. I think it is with the card inside the computer. Well I sent it back to Lenovo the other day so they can keep it.

This machine has exceeded my expectations. The Yoga 2 was purchased to replace an old Dell 17" XPS laptop that was not very portable (desktop replacement). The first thing I noticed was the extremely fast boot time from off to desktop, 15-20 seconds, wow! The beyond HD screen is awesome. You will not go wrong purchasing this laptop.

THE COVER KEPT LOOSENING AND THE 2MM VERY SHORT SCREWS HAD TO BE CONSTANTLY TIGHTENED. ONE JUST FELL OUT AND THE COVER BROKE . i NEVER USED IT IN THE TABLET POSITION ( EXCEPT TO SHOW IT TO OTHERS) SO THERE WAS NO STRAIN ON IT. THE COVER FINALLY BROKE WHEN ONE OF THE SCREWS TOTALLY FELL OUT. REPAIR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THEIR LIMITED WARRANTY. THEY WANT $269 TO FIX IT. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PRICE THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE COMPUTER. I THINK IT IS OUTRAGEOUS THAT THEY ARE EVEN CHARGING ANYTHING AT ALL. DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER. FOFTIME I USED AS TO SHOW ITW

Received the smaller, much slower version for Christmas. It was slower than my phone so I exchanged it for this one. This one was doing fine. Suddenly, after less than 3 weeks and having never dropped, bumped, anything to damage it, it has a cracked screen. Best Buy won't do anything but charge $50.00 to put in a new screen that I need to buy from Lenovo and bring to them. GREAT SERVICE! NOT! My kids have MAC Books that have been dropped, bumped, dented, etc. they still work great. Clearly MAC is built much better than Lenovo.

The screen of the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro I bought started flickering a few months after I purchased. I didn't pay much attention on getting it repaired as soon as it broke. When I remembered to get it fixed, I called Best Buy store, however they told me it expired the warranty period. I am not sure what I should do next to get the laptop repaired. Except for the screen, it is a light laptop good for travel.

Has not met expectations. Wifi keeps disconnecting despite technical support applied new drivers. Tech support says no problem with wifi they know about with updated drivers. INCORRECT! Nothing else in our house drops the wireless signal but this machine does. Will be returning it.

Not worth it; save money and buy cheaper

Has been nothing but trouble from the beginning! First had problems with the screen blinking on and off. GeekSquad could not find the cause after three service attempts. I finally Googled the issue and found a solution that worked on that. Then when it updated to windows 10 it went berserk and had all kinds of problems. Again GeekSquad could not fix the issues, so I fixed some and others have just remained unfixed and troublesome. Ran out of warranty Oct 17, and it got to where it would not reboot after a shutdown. I could keep trying and trying and finally it would come on, so I just had to leave it on 24/7 to have any dependable use. Of course, every time it gets an update and has to reboot, I have a 2-3 hour wait for reboot. The machine power will come on but nothing on the screen. Finally 2 nights ago it did an update and restart, and I have been trying for 2 days to get it back up. Looks like it’s now trash. I paid over $1500 for this thing because the store associate told me it would be worth the money. It is very fast when it’s running, but all the problems it has had makes it definitively not worth the price! I will go back to a $300-400 machine now. This one was a Lenogo instead of Lenovo!

    Lenovo can't get it right

Go buy the surface 3 instead. I've had 3 replacement machines, and its still not right... 1st model didn't have a hard drive!!! 2nd model did not come with a recovery partition installed. 3rd model did not have a hard drive (really this happened twice??)!!! 4th model had a defective wireless/bluetooth card (network continuously dropped out, and bluetooth had a range of 6 inches). Sent in to Lenovo for service since (luckily) i have an extended warranty. They fixed VERY fast, but put in a cheap "N" card rather than an "AC" card. Now my network speed is maxing out at 56 Mbps! Awesome laptop, cool idea. Love the size, speed, lighted keyboard, portability, everyhting.... except that it just never works. Hard to recommend when I bought a device that is being repaired rather than used.

Wish I had never bought it

Purchased in May. After a week of getting it updated to where I wanted it and transferring files from my old unit via an external HD, the hard drive crashed while trying to download some games from Big Fish. It took almost 2 months to get fixed due to lack of part availability. WiFi card doesn't work right at all (check out the many complaints online). And even after the new HD was installed i can't even download a game from Big Fish without it timing out, so needless to say a video is out of the question. I have done a bunch of updates that have been suggested by Intel and others, but nothing has helped. The next step, I guess, is to replace the WiFi card, which I don't feel comfortable with, but have no choice since it has been too long and BB won't take it back. I wish I had never bought it and if I had the choice I would return it and get something else. Basically I have a very expensive 6 month old doorstop. My 6 year old Dell works better than this. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I thought I did enough research, and really wanted to love this unit, but truthfully it isn't worth $12 much less $1200. Avoid it!
