    Weak Wifi

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I’m just attesting that the Wi-Fi reception is the weakest among all the devices in our house (computers, iPads, iPhones, Galaxy Tab, etc.). Not only that, but it does drop the signal occasionally. Everything else is excellent. I called tech support and they didn’t offer much help. This is just my honest experience. If Lenono will fix this issue, I would give it 5 stars.

    Virus pre-installed

Mine came pre-loaded with a virus, how handy... Called Lenovo support and they wanted me to purchase a software warranty to fix it lol, it came out of the box with a virus and they got the nerve.. No, I'll just return it to the store thanks. If you bought one, go to google and right click anywhere on the page, select view source, then press CTRL+F (to find) and search for "deals", if you find a link that says best-deals-products, that's the virus injecting javascript into every page you visit. Try it out, view the source of any page, it's there waiting to serve you pop-ups. My advice, skip this and get an Acer or Samsung.

    Wifi doesn't work

I'm a intel chip enthusiast and have been waiting for the 4th gen. i7 for a long time. My understanding from watching YouTube videos and reading Wikipedia about it is that this is the first time the processor itself monitors what the computer is doing and de-powers components and processes. The Lenovo was not uncomfortable on the lap. Everything about the computer was very zippy. And when I first went online I didn't notice how clunky it was running because over the years I've become a little desensitized to that. However when I started watching YouTube videos side by side with a older i5 the problem was quickly un-ignorable. It would start out streaming and playing the video with amazing speed. But then 1/4 of the way in the little spinning wheel would come up along with an error message saying no wifi network could be found. Although windows 8 was very intuitive and I was getting used to it very quickly the idea of debugging the wifi in an unfamiliar operating system was unpleasant. But then I realized the problem might not be so simple to solve if what was really going on is that the processor is shutting power off to the wifi. I returned it exactly 1 week after buying it. One of the original sales guys was their and said maybe I had just got a Lemmon. That's possible. But who wants to waist their time with it either way?

Great PC if you don't plan to access the Internet

    Posted .

I loved everything about this pc, after extensive research it was exactly what I wanted in a supped up Ultra-book. Even went without a computer nearly a month waiting for its release. I have never written a negative review, hate to even complain most days, but after spending the last 2 days troubleshooting I am restoring factory default and will be headed to the store to return the much anticipated Yoga 2. Truly love everything about this PC (size, hardware, display resolution) everything except the wifi signal is so weak and slow and underperforms every other device in the house. Can't even download an HP Printer driver without it stalling out. If I can't make it work here at home, what is connecting on the road going to be like? I foolishly believed that the weak wifi issues of the predecessor Yoga 13 would be resolved. After reading all 82 pages of the thread related to this issue on the Lenovo user forum, I tweaked all the settings recommended (minus replacing the router which is less than 2 years old and works just fine for the other 8 devices in the house) I give up. No time for troubleshooting something this serious with a 15 day return policy. Read for yourself, just google 'yoga 13 wifi' and look for the link to the Lenovo user forum. I'm having the exact same issue with the Yoga 2.

Great if you don't need WiFi

I had this for a week and returned it back. The WiFi was so poor I'm surprised they released this to the market. I'm not sure if each unit comes with a different WiFi card for anyone to rate this a five. But the unit that I bought was the silver edition fully loaded version for $1,199. I would NOT recommend this to anyone, especially if you plan to use it via WiFi.

    returned it

My previous one year old Lenovo I7 ,8 gb, 1 terabyte hard drive had a problem with the button that adjusts screen brightness and wouldn't stay online. I wanted to fix it but bestbuy said it would take 2-3 weeks! So I used my coverage and got myself a better or so I thought Lenovo Yoga pro 2 for $1199. Within a day I noticed that my keyboard kept locking in and I had to restart the computer to make it work. Took it to geek squad, they seem to be aware of all the problems with this laptop and advised to get a replacement So I returned that one and got an identical one. After keeping it for a day and reading all the reviews, I didn't want to try my luck and switched for a different one. I had bad luck with Lenovo. It was a frustrating experience switching laptops.

Track pad is very hard to use

Track pad on my T430S was great, but the new design is a disaster. All of us with the X1 Carbon, T440S, and other newer models have the new track pad that deletes the left and right click buttons. The new pad looks great, but is a useability disaster. Look for a notebook that still has real buttons for the clickers.

Wifi keep disabling when downloading file

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the laptop that I have been waiting for in price and spec but unfortunately, wifi is not working when downloading file. Just like I read in one of the review who rated one star, I too have the same problem. I have 3 computers at home and I downloading from the same location in my house with the other computer/laptops and I have no problem. However, with this new laptop, just downloading any file from internet, it will disable my wifi and disrupted my internet connection (I tried several times with several different sites). I'm very disappointed with Lenovo for this simple basic wifi connection. My work laptop is made from Lenovo and it's the old laptop and yet I have no problem with the wifi. You would think the new ones come out it will be better and better...not in this case with the wifi. Before I return this back I will ask if BB technical team can help first.

Incompatible with several (even Microsoft) program

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Went to the Microsoft store and purchased Office 2014. Load said installation was successful ... but it wasn't. Called Microsoft support and they said the Yoga 2 was incompatible with Office. Charged $85 to fix it. Perhaps Office 365 (annual S/W rental) would have worked, but not outright Office purchase. Same thing with trying to load Windows Essentials to get Windows Live Mail (and email client that accepts POP3 accounts ... Windows 8.1 does no do this). Garmin and Training Peaks S/W for cycling workout record keeping also does not install. This hardware is truly disappointing. P.S. Called Lenovo and the warranty only supports the hardware.

An ie7 is great, but not when there are only 2 cores. 67% of the cpu was used while in Google chrome. It is basically a big tablet for $1200. Avoid at all costs

Don't buy these yoga pieces of junk. The battery is built in and after only 4 months it would only last an hour. Overpriced garbage.

Keyboard doesn't work even after 3 exchanges

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Keyboard gets disabled once you type the password and login. Called Lenovo and they said exchange with BB. Now exchanged 3 times and the 3rd one had the key board working for 2 days and stopped working now. Going to return back. Horrible quality control from Lenovo and all the defective ones landed in BB. It looks like the sensors and piece of code detects the laptop mode (stand vs tablet vs laptop) is messing up and accidentally disabling the keyboard as soon as login.

    Flickering screen kills everything else

I like my laptop... except the flickering screen which does not have a fix whatever "solution" you find online. For the price, flickering screen is just intolerable. Impossible to use. Just like buying a super nice car without wheels able to turn. Hate it.

Low end wifi adaptor, can not support a 5 Ghz wifi which means that you can't play online games on that since it only support a 2.4 Ghz band wifi. Internet is super slow, and I am very disappointed. To be fair, everything else works perfect.
