Consider that I've only had the unit for 12 hours
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First thing I noticed is how freaking hot the bottom gets. Second was battery consumption. After an hour of use, I was down to 73% of battery, so that is less than 4 hours of pure Internet browsing, with Bluetooth and WiFi on. This morning I switched to Power Saver and Conservation modes, but the screen dims a good bit. For my eyes I had to drop to 1600x900 for my display, but younger folks wont have to do this. I agree with other reviews that say it lags at times, but I am figuring ways to adjust to that minor challenge. While outclassed by some of its peers, the display is still very good. If I had not gotten such an amazing deal I might take it back just for the heat generated, but I tested it with a meter and it is within the expected operation temps of 40 to 46c (104-114.8f). Considering it is "fanless," and dead silent, that heat is a mildly acceptable trade off. I'll give it a couple more days, and run some Office productivity while keeping a browser open. If I drop below 4 hours of battery life, it is not worth any of the benefits. The new Microsoft Surface 3 promotes 10 hours, but it still argues for a flat surface to use the keyboard, where the Yoga can be used anywhere in any configuration.

Nice, lightweight device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great screen, light weight and equipped for speed with 8gb ram and 256gb ssd. Like so many lenovos, the battery life could be better but it's still at least okay at about 4-5 hours.

Great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been extremely happy with the speed and ease of use. Only complaint I would have is it seems the battery runs down a bit fast but since I have a Nokia 1520 phone all portable batteries look bad in comparison.

Ideal form - disappointment starts when turn it on
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yoga 3 11 inch is simply the ideal form factor for a 2 in 1. Light weight, solid feeling build, excellent screen and keyboard size - perfect and Apple-like in coolness. The disappointment starts when you turn it on. The processor is slow and machine response suffers despite the 8 GB of RAM. When doing basic office tasks like Excel, PPT, and web-based apps, the system pauses from time-to-time. Battery life is roughly 5-6 hours which is barely OK. It lacks a back lit keyboard and relies on the basic touch screen as opposed to a digitizer that allows and active stylus or even a passive one that gets better precision. Machine goes to sleep for no reason – I have all my settings for power management set to stay on when plugged in no matter what and still it went to sleep. I updated the BIOS and several apps/drivers that were newer and nothing changed. I was looking to upgrade my Yoga 2 11 inch to improve on its meager 4GB of RAM, poor wifi and battery life, and low resolution screen. I this thing were priced at $500 like my original Yoga, I'd keep it. But at $850 and another $250 for a 512 GB M.2 SSD to upgrade storage, it is too pricey for its shortcomings. It goes back to BBY today (2 week trial ends). Let’s hope someone takes this design and gives it the power it deserves along with lit keys and a screen that can handle an active stylus.

Poor Laptop for the Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll be quite honest here with you. This laptop overall is not a bad laptop if your just blowing your money and you want something that is light. I purchased the laptop and sent it back packing after using it for five days. I'll make some points here. The point of the review is not to bash the laptop, but to give you a different view from what others provided. 1. No Back Light Keyboard: Not a major problem, but for the amount of money, there is no back light. 2. Slow: The laptop utilizes the M core i series. It is very slow and compares close to the performance of an atom processor. It has the ability to load webpages fine and play light games, but handled poorly when multitasking. The 8GB of ram helps, but since the processor was slow.. the 8GB of RAM could not make up for it. 3. Touchpad: The touchpad is finicky. It moves fine when you touch it in the store, but becomes non-responsive at times when the laptop is under duress. Sometimes, I used the touch screen to move the webpage. The area of the trackpad is small, but that is expected for a small laptop. 4. Screen Quality: The screen quality is ok. It is not bad, but not great. For watching movies and etc, it's not a problem being a 1080p... but the colors are not that vibrant. For someone who is not big on the screen, this should not be an issue. 5. Weight & Mobility: The weight of the laptop is great. I had no problem carrying it around and is a major selling factor. 6. Bloatware: Yes, it is on the laptop. Not too much, but is enough to annoy someone for the amount of money paid. You can easily remove it. 7. Battery Life: Battery life is poor. I had a problem with this because the point of the m core processor is to provide value in extending the battery life the device. It's not lenovo's fault, but i would get 2.5 hours under heavy -heavy use and about 5:30 under light use. For going to work or studying, you should be fine, but make sure you charge it. I was impressed with the ultra power saving mode that kicks in at 20%. 8. Versatility: This laptop is great for turing into a tablet or used as a touch screen device. The laptop felt quite sturdy and I had no problem transforming it for different uses. 9. Touchscreen: No issues here. No matter where you touched the screen, it worked fine and was very responsive. 10. Charger: I was really... really annoyed by this. The length of the charger is extremely short. I had to sit next to the wall in my house in order to charge the device while in use. I have many other devices with extremely long or decent length chargers. Be prepared to sit next to an outlet if charging. 11. Wireless: I never had a problem with the wireless connection. It was able to take advantage of the AC connection and was able to connect to both the 2.4 and 5 GHz band. 12. Spyware Incident: Part of the reason I took it back. Lenovo had adware installed on the laptop that could be taken advantage of. Look it up if you haven't heard about it. An MS update is suppose to nuke the problem and Lenovo apologized... but you never know about security these days. 13. Windows 10 Tech Preview 2: Do not install this. The keyboard will not work no matter what. This is not the fault of Lenovo and the Tech Preview 2 is not official. Just be warned if your wandering about this. Also, the screen will not rotate correctly since Lenovo has to update this. It's somewhat a concern when Windows 10 officially comes out. I hope they have an update for this. 14. Overall Thoughts: I am a geek and I like things to work smoothly. For an overpriced laptop, I would not recommend it. For the poor speeds, poor battery life, and standard feel... your better of buying a Lenovo 2 and saving a few extra bucks. Honestly, I would purchase many other devices over this. I am writing this review because it's very new and I could not find anything on this. I hope this review helps. Please understand I write this honestly and from my frustrations I had. If money is no object and you like to show it off, it's maybe for you.

great laptop for certain reasons
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just got this for my daughter. I would not mind using it for myself buty my current laptop works fine. Great size and weight overall for lugging around. Excellent screen and overall performance. Minor gripes: 1. keyboard not backlit. Some people mind that, some don't. It is what it is and you don't have to test the unit to see. Either it's a problem for you or it isn't. 2. battery life about 5 hrs to 6 hrs only. Not bad unless you're a true road warrior who does not have charging access for at least one part of the day. 3. the drive is partitioned in two. Not a big deal perhaps, but I do mind it. Pros: 1. weight, size and performance combination. there are few laptops out there that can match it in this regard. 2. fanless. It does tend to run a bit hot with gaming, but no big deal. They all do. Just put a fan under it if it bothers you. 3. great screen. I do not expect to see any more detail at any higher resolution for this screen size. it probably keeps the cost and power use down a bit and to me that matters more. 4. overall build quality. the keyboard could have more travel when you press it but that's a minor gripe.

what a waste of money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is neigher a laptop nor a tablet. It fails at both categories. Sure, it's compact and light. And that's the ONLY good thing about it. Battery life? 4-5 hours MAX. While with Core-M processor it should be 8+. Processor itself? Total waste of time (nomen omen). It constantly down-clocks itself (to save electricity), meaning everything is soooo slloooooooow. Try playing any (any!) computer game and you'll see. Even Civilization V (game from 2010) barely works, only on minimal settings. Playing movies? Barely, 720p is max (1080p is a slide-show). Upgrade to Win10? Graphics drivers (Intel HD 5300) don't work, "error 43", meaning you'll immediately downgrade to Win8.1. Not enough USB ports (but that's to be semi-expected in ultrabook). Irritating keyboard (but you can get used to it). But touchpad? Try using right-key. Hint: it won't work. If you want to right-click anything you'll end up connecting your mouse. I so wish I had returned this garbage within 15 days of purchase. But I had to go overseas and didn't have time. Do not make my mistake. Stay away. But Dell XPS or similar.

TERRIBLE STAY AWAY!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so excited to get this all in one, but it's terrible! I've had this product for less than 5 months, and it's progressively getting worse. This has easily been the biggest regret on a purchase I've made in the last 5 years. The wifi keeps disconnecting, the touchpad becomes very unresponsive, and the certain icons keep appearing, when they're set to hidden. I sent the laptop in for repair, and Lenovo made everything worse, which I didn't think was possible and blew my mind. The touchpad is now pushed in, and doesn't work, period, left clicking is nonexistent, and their customer service is terrible. Only reason why I'm writing all this is because I'm on hold with Lenovo again, with another issue, I've been on hold for over half an hour now.. The item lags, and is not meant for long purpose, the battery is terrible, this is just a horrible product. Can't believe how much money I spent on garbage.
