Brand new a needed to go back for repair

When we did use it the backspace, space bar, home keys, etc stopped working. Tried usual repairs (bios, updating drivers, etc.) but to no avail. Lenovo requested we sent it back from them. Now it will take 3 weeks to fix. Should not have happened on a brand new laptop.
