Fantastic Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to use for my senior year of school and beyond and this laptop just does the job amazingly. The screen is absolutely beautiful and the feel and look of the computer is exceptionally sophisticated, not to mention fast. The shift key that other reviewers have complained about is not hard to get used to and an easy tradeoff for a great laptop. I would easily recommend this for students as this works well for writing papers and watching Netflix!

Super fast startup and performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the Lenovo Yoga 710 14" with Core i5 and 256 GB SSD for about 3 weeks now, so I can't speak to any long-term issues related to quality or performance, but my first impressions of it have been very positive. Windows 10 runs seamlessly with this laptop and I'm online within 15-20 seconds of hitting the power button. I can run several websites at once with video and experience no slowdown of processing speed. I've had no trouble pairing it with peripherals such as printers, mice or external displays, and it runs very quietly thanks to the SSD (this is my first experience with SSD after years of clunky hard drives, so I'm definitely sold on this). The tablet feature works well and battery life so far is well over 6 hours, probably closer to 7, and the lighted keyboard is a very convenient feature. The screen isn't Apple Retina level, but it's very good with rich colors and true reproduction overall. This is well worth the $600 + tax I paid (on sale at Best Buy and w/student discount coupon), and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Like everything but the fan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really liked almost everything about this laptop especially the slim design however after I took it out of the box, within 30 minutes the fan started running with a high pitched whine. I turned it off for a little and tried again but after 10 minute of web surfing the fan started again. Has anyone else had this problem? I really like this laptop but I don't think I could use it in a quiet place so I'm considering returning it.

Nice & Affordable UltraPortable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lightweight.Sharp Screen. Colors look a bit washed out. Generates very less heat and you wont the hear any fan noise. I am a Mac user so I can say that the max brightness of the screen is around 60% of the Mac's Retina display at max brightness. There are minor stammers then and there but I hope its the device drivers & will be fixed if I reformat. Sound is good too.

Lenovo almost gets it right with the 710
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned both the Yoga 2 and Yoga 3 Pro. Both were saddled with shallow keyboards with poor tactile feedback, and the Yoga 3 Pro has well documented shortcomings in build quality, performance, and battery life. On paper and on first look, the 14" 710 looks like a winner. Aluminum construction, smaller footprint than previous 13.3" models, a bright screen, and a generous sized keyboard with performance closer to the revered Thinkpad keyboards. But alas, the fatal flaw - a misplaced right shift key that I just can't get used to. If this was the only keyboard I used, I might be able to adapt. But I use several different keyboards during the day, and this one just won't work for fast touch typing. Hitting the UP arrow instead of right shift wreaks havoc in a word document. That combined with a loose, rattly touchpad, and unfortunately it is going back to BB.

Great Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a huge discount when purchasing this laptop. The laptop is really good - fast performance, sleek, good battery life, lightweight and good aesthetics. Only problem, as repeatedly mentioned, is the poor positioning of the shift key, but any user can get used to it pretty quickly. JBL speakers are an added bonus in this model.

Posted .Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga 710-14. With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP.

Almost great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned the Yoga 700 anticipating it's flaws to be corrected with the 710. The screen is definitely improved as is the trackpad. The 710 also has improved battery life. The graphics driver and ghost touch issues are obsolete even though the 710 utilizes the exact same hardware. Let me point out these were easily fixed with the 700 through Lenovo support. The negatives with the 710 compared to the 700 are the keyboard, one less USB port. The 700 had a better keyboard for comfortable speed typing though the home key issue caused me to return it. The 710 changed that but replaced it with a lesser quality keyboard and equally frustrating right shift key. Not ideal for long term typing. If it weren't for the 710 being eligible for the college discount as well as the recent $100 "weekly special" discount I would consider returning the 710. Let me point out the positives...build quality, aesthetics, fast and nearly silent, battery life and touch screen are great.

Decent laptop with some caveats
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't research newer laptops prior to entering the store, and was told this model was "small and quick." I would say that's accurate. The laptop has a light, but sturdy, feel. The hinges are strong, and the screen produces great graphics with little glare and optimal viewing angles. Cons: 1. the shift key, as noted by several reviewers. 2. The fan is fairly high pitched and constant at times. Ultimately, I'm deciding to return it. I think it will make plenty of people happy, but I'm ultimately "not feeling it" for the price I paid.

Works good but has a flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this nice lab top for several months. It performs very nice, but I found it was noisy when the fan started. Overall, it is not so bad!

Good value laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The dimension is nearly identical to my 13" MacBook Air, but with a superior 14" screen. The bezel surrounding the screen is very thin, similarly to the Dell XPS series. The trade off is a slightly heavier laptop. Although the casing seems to be plastic, it has a very solid feel. The construction of the laptop seems well built. My only gripe, just like other reviews, is the trackpad. The trackpad is very responsive with little lag, but it does feel flimsy. It can easily click due to accidental touching. Great laptop at a great value. Besides the trackpad, the pros easily outweigh the cons.

Noisy fan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Am I only one who encounteres the noisy fan? The fan in this laptop gets on every time as soon as I start using the laptop. Its pretty ennoying in quite study designated areas. And the touch pad also kinda rough noise making one. This flows should have been improved in this kind of price range laptop. Otherwise the model has an excellent screen resolution and speed. I am going to return this product due to the problems stated above

touch screen is spotty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this 2 in 1 but want to like it more that is why I am only giving it 3 stars so far. As others have stated the keyboard layout is not standard (shift key, home key), I hate when manufacturers change the keyboard layout, we have been typing for years, leave it alone, our fingers have muscle memory. My mistake for not noticing it sooner. My other big issue right now is the touch screen, either using it just as a laptop, or using it as a tablet, the touch screen does not work all the time. I am hoping someone from Lenovo can chime in here and point me to an updated drive or something, but it is simple things like scrolling on the tablet and I have to scroll three times to get the page to move, or even trying to touch a button, I am touching it 3 to 4 times for it to "click"

Posted .Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga 710-14. With regard to the touch screen not working all the time, it could be a driver update that is needed. You can see some tips/tricks about this process in the article at the link below. Be sure to create a restore point on your device before you make any changes or download new software:

As usual the process was easy and I got the laptop in 2 days, really love to shop at bestbuy. The laptop works perfectly fine as described in the specs. I strongly recommend this laptop to others.

Loud Noise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited two years before I made this decision and buy a new laptop. I was so happy about the size of the screen when I saw it in the store. everything about it is good but I can't handle the fan's noise. My two previous laptops that I still have don't make such loud noise. I am taking it back to the store on Monday, I don't want to get stuck with such thing for another two years. :-((

Delivered new but damaged.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was super excited when I pulled this laptop out of the box on the morning I received it. However as soon as I set it up I noticed something strange. It wobbled.... It only stood on 3 legs. I thought I was my table but looking at it the device is bent. Brand new and out of the box there is about half and inch of bend in the machine. Returning it to my local best buy later today once class is over. Oh and the shift key thing most people talk about is pretty bad. I won't be getting another one of these.

Posted .This sounds like there was a Windows 10 update that is effecting your display driver and the old driver needs to updated. You can follow the link to Lenovo.com support-drivers and look for driver updates for display-graphics card for your specific system. Be sure to create a restore point on your system before you make any changes or download new software. Also you may want to turn off automatic updates on your system. You will be alerted when there is an update for your system then you can create a restore point before you allow the update. Here is the link:

Lousy keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you know how to touch type, this keyboard is unworkable. The right side shift key is so far over, that you can't reach it if you're typing fast and not looking. you end up hitting the Page Up key and screwing up your entire document. Probably this laptop is fine for web surfing and streaming video, but if you type a lot of long emails or documents, find a laptop with a traditional keyboard. Am returning this one.

Poor shift key location
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Right shift key is too far to the right. Very difficult to type. Other reviewers said they got used to it. I did not as i have a computer at work and another at home and this one for travel. PLEASE practice typing before you buy this model. Someone at Lenovo went for look not practicality.

This is an OK product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read all the online reviews for this product and saw it briefly in the store so I thought it would be great for taking notes in medical school. Basically my goal was to have something I could write on notes without having to print off a lot of paper, use for writing papers, and doing research. When I first got the computer it seemed great it was light weight and fast, but now that I have gotten to school and am working with it I'm unfortunately not very impressed. The problems that I have had include: the backspace key only working about 50% of the time, the keyboard itself is not always responsive, the computer not waking up after a few minutes of not being used during lecture, the writing ability not picking up my finger or stylus frequently while trying to take notes. These are really big issues for me as medical school is really fast paced and I shouldn't need to use a lot of time making sure my computer is working. Unfortunately I didn't buy the insurance from best buy and it's been over 2 weeks (but less than a month) and they are unable to help. If I were to buy a computer again I would likely take the hit on finances and get a more expensive one with a digitzer for note taking.
