Customers are saying

Customers love the Yoga 710's screen quality, light weight, and long battery life. Many appreciate its ease of use and the ample RAM, although some found the keyboard layout and limited number of USB ports to be less than ideal. The design is frequently praised, but the fan noise was a point of concern for some users. A few also mentioned issues with the size and placement of certain keys.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga 710-15. With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP. lenovo

This appears to be a very nice laptop. However, a difficult learning curve with Windows 10 and problems trying to print from it make it impossible to give the computer an accurate rating at this time.

There's a lot to like here, though one major flaw (and a few minor flaws) really kill this laptop for me. Pros first: -The laptop feels well built and sturdy overall. -The fingerprint reader is fast and accurate. -The keyboard is backlit and pretty great to type on (except for the terrible right shift key). -4k screen is pin-sharp (with serious downsides, however). -The i7/16gb RAM/256 SSD/discreet graphics add up to strong all around performance. (But not a robust gaming machine; if that's what you want you need a quad-core i7 and a better graphics chip.) -Battery life is plenty long for my purposes. -Runs very quiet. I have seen multiple customer reviews that complain about a loud fan. Mine rarely turns on, and when it does it is very quiet. There was a BIOS update about a month before I purchased mine. Maybe that fixed the issue. Or maybe the loud units are simply defective. If you have one with a fan that runs often and loudly, I would return it while you can rather than deal with Lenovo's customer service looking for a fix. Cons: -The screen (part 1). Yes, it is 4k, and yes it is very sharp. But it is dimmer than many other laptop displays. I have turned off auto-brightness and looked over the pre-set power plans to no avail. Your stuck with the a max brightness that in a well lit room is enough to get work done but not enough to really cut through the reflections on the glossy screen. Not terrible. Not WAY too dim. But man an extra 15% brightness would go a long way. -The screen (part 2): the color accuracy is way off, especially the white point, which has a constant blue-gray tint. I've tried calibrating the screen myself (which is not easy, btw), and getting a truer white results (for me) in washed out primary colors. Perhaps professional calibration software could help, but that's 200+ dollars. What good is a super sharp picture of snowy countryside when the perfect fresh snow looks like the gray snow alongside the highway after cars have driven on it? Know what I'm saying. There's more to a good screen that pixel-count. I have seen some people write that they use this for photo editing; that seems a bit absurd to me with this flawed color palate. WHAT DO YOU SAY LENOVO, HOOK US UP WITH SOME FREE CALBRATION SOFTWARE TO CLEAN UP THIS MESS. -While the build quality feels sturdy, my laptop lid (like many other users' lids) is on crooked. Seriously. It does not line up correctly with the base of the laptop. You can see it if you are looking for it, and you can definitely feel it when you run your fingers along the seams; there's a pronounced lip where there should not be one. It still feels sturdy, and the hinge operates perfectly fine. But you have to wonder about the quality control standards if this is happening with lots of units. And you have to wonder what else they might have screwed up and what might break right after your warranty expires. -That shift key. Holy moly, is it annoying. I have cursed under my breath many times while typing this review because of it. It is half the size of a normal shift key and in the wrong place. If you touch type, you will routinely hit the up arrow key instead of the shift key, then you will find yourself typing one line up from where you want right in the middle of an existing sentence. Stupid. Dumb. Why Lenovo? WHY? So, all said and done, it comes down to a few things. Performance is solid. Build appears solid (despite the crooked lid). But the screen is very disappointing and that shift key is maddening. Good luck.

Purchasing this product was a frustrating process, but I'd say I'm happy with it. Pros: 16gb memory SSD i7 intel processor Dedicated graphics card Display Small Footprint Cons: Construction (the reason it doesn't get five stars) While the construction feels solid on the surface, there are noises this laptop makes around the hinges and the trackpad that are somewhat annoying. In fact, this is my third Yoga 710, with the previous two that I returned having the same issues. The first one that I returned made a loud cracking noise near the left hinge. I thought it was just a one-time thing, but the second one had the same issue, albeit not as loud. I went back to my local best buy and realized that the display model had the same noise issue around the left hinge, which makes me believe it's some sort of design flaw. The best buy associate told me that one more person had returned it due to the hinge issue, so it's not as if I have very bad luck. So I took another chance, particularly since the price went down by $300 in the meantime. The third one still has that issue, but it's slowly going away. I think I can live with it, and it only happens when the display is moved or when picking up the laptop. The specs of this laptop are amazing for the price. It's fast, the display is beautiful, and it looks small for a 15 inch laptop. By the time I bought the third one, the price had gone down to $849. You can't beat that. I usually buy laptops every couple years, but this one might be good enough for three or four, considering the great specs.

I got the LENOVO YOGA laptop less than 2 years ago and so far I sent it to replace the motherboard 3 times because the computer will not turn on. LENOVO and Best Buy don't care that each time I risk losing my data, plus the time that I have to wait for the repair to take place. Save yourself time, money, and peace of mind and DO NOT buy LENOVO products. I do not know why Best Buy sells this piece of crap!

Pros: Metal case, large display, lit keyboard, decent graphics card can play games on decent settings, i7 processor, good battery life, fast install of programs and fast boot Cons: Display calibration: default settings on display are too red and green This can be fixed in the color calibration in windows. I made it about half way up both red and green bars and full blue. One thing I can't get rid of is the back light bleed when the display is black and at full brightness. F keys: They are defaulted to hot keys and to use the normal function of the F keys the Fn button is needed in conjunction with the f key. This can be reversed in the bios press Fn F2 at the Lenovo screen at start up to access bios. Touchpad: Two finger scroll is inverted which can be changed in mouse/ touchpad settings. You cant use one finger to click and one finger to move the pointer around because it will do things like zoom in and out, scroll, minimize things, and who knows what else. I am just used to have a right and left mouse button. The right shift key takes a little getting used to but not too bad. I do press the up arrow key occasionally by accident. Touch screen: It doesn't have great palm recognition. I find it to click on and thing skin touches. I have not found a solution for this yet and will update if I do. Other Thoughts: Over all with a little adjustment this is a great laptop. I would recommend it to anyone. I got it on sale, open box with a $150 of coupon for $640 plus tax. I was unable to find another laptop that is nearly close to as good as this one for that price most of them are over a grand. I see best buy raised their price to $1200. Glad I got mind when I did.

This is a great laptop for the money. I think the build quality looks and feels great. The processor is really fast and the display is absolutely stunning. With 16gb of ram, there is no waiting for programs to open or run. The Nvidia graphics card handles autocad 2017 and other powerful programs with ease.

    Great Laptop- Mechanical Engineering Student

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this laptop back in July when it was under a college student deal for $850 and it has been a great computer so far. As an engineering student I was tired of caring my old brick of a laptop around everywhere, so I wanted to get something thin, light yet powerful. I would have liked to get something that was a bit lighter like the lenovo yoga 710 14 inch version of this or the ASUSux303ub but the 14'' wasn't as powerful and the ASUS was $400 more at the time for similar specs in a smaller package. Like I mentioned earlier its been a great laptop. I have SolidWorks 2016 and MatLab on it and both have worked without issues so far. It has the SSD so the start up is nice and fast. The few cons I have are - it only has two usb ports, one more would have been nice. - the charging cable is SHORT, like maybe 6ft long and to top it all off the brick takes up a lot of room when connected to the outlet -Something I realized after the return period is that the lid and base are not perfectly aligned when the laptop is closed, its not a huge issue but when I spend that much money, I expect things like that to be perfect -lastly the right shift key is way to the right, so if you use that shift key be warned Anyways if the price for this laptop drops to around 900 dollars again I highly recommend this, but if it remains at $1100 which is what its at right now, do some more searching around you may find some better choices.

Purchased in Late July, crashed in late September qualifies this as worst purchase EVER. Then it took the manufacturer 3 weeks to decide it was irreparable. The only good that came of this whole situation is that they agreed to let us switch it out for a new one. My son now owns a HP.

I've had this laptop for a week now. I really like it and was a great price for everything it has (high gb, good ssd, and graphics card!). I most likely will be returning it though. 1. The darn right shift key! Argh whoever designed this keyboard must never use this button. It is half the normal size and then to top it off lets put the page up key where the other half of the shift key normally is. I thought after a while I would just get use to it but no a week later and I'm still scrolling up when I want to press shift. This little thing is why I'll most likely return laptop. 2. Who decided to put the huge power cord adaptor at the end of the plug? You cant use anything else in the outlet when charging... 3. Speakers on bottom of laptop because muffled sound when the laptop is on a table is so grand. I think Lenovo lost track of some key features. Anyway if in another week my finger still hits pageup instead of shift I'll be returning. Would recommend if you can get past these annoying features. Of course I don't know the longevity of this computer before it starts going wacko.
