Customers are saying
Customers are positive about the Yoga 710's touchscreen, light weight, ease of use, and SSD, with many praising its performance and design. However, customers are negative about the keyboard quality, particularly the placement and size of the right shift key, and some experienced excessive fan noise. The battery life and price also received positive feedback. While some appreciated the dedicated graphics card, others found the keyboard layout unconventional.

Poor quality. Poor support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Due to a stiff hinge the screen cracked almost immediately. Neither Best Buy or Lenovo were willing to help. Wanted to charge me almost the price of a new machine to fix the screen. Really helped my son enjoy his Christmas present. Both companies are off my list.

Not very happy with the purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do not like the "on" button. Very difficult to turn on. Not my first computer, (before you ask). "On" seems to respond very slowly and I expect instant. Not at all liking Microsoft 10, but I'm not blaming that on the computer.

Sound card died
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With 10 days of purchase, the sound card died in the laptop. Tech said that they have seen a lot of problems with this model, so it's probably best if you purchased some other Lenovo laptop.

Cheap

Posted .This system should be a fast system with its Core I-5 processor, 8GB of RAM and the Nvidia GeForce 940M GPU. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. Finally, if there are no program compatibility issues on the device, there may be driver updates for your specific system. Follow the link below to look for new driver updates for your specific system. You can also run diagnostics from the Lenovo site as well. It worked well but
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm just an average user and got this for homework and internet. It's really fast and turns on within seconds. Everything worked fine except two things that irked me. The keyboard was weird because of the arrow keys and the spacing of the keys. The mouse pad was all over the place even after adjusting the settings. I did not care for touchscreen or tablet mode. I cared more for being able to use the mousepad smoothly and in this case, I sensed it was going to be a problem so I had to return it. Another thing is it catches fingerprints awfully bad especially if you have oily skin. Quality of keyboard could be better.

Very happy so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the Lenovo Yoga 710 laptop for almost 2 weeks and so far so good. I love the touchscreen and don't find it seriously reduces battery life. I have never heard any fan noise as others have complained about, and I have now discovered that I never used the shift key on the right so that doesn't bother me. I had a problem with the touch pad. It would randomly zoom or close things at the slightest touch. There is a way to adjust that; I called Geek Squad, and they talked me through it. I would recommend the one year tech package. Windows 10 wasn't compatible with Photoshop, and they fixed that for me remotely. No extra charge.

Fast, light, beautiful screen and good battery!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast start up, shutdown and browsing! Lightweight for 15.6 and not very wide. Keypad is awesome and the back lit is bright and perfect! More power than I will ever need with I5 and 256ssd. Keep in mind that SSD does not have a lot of storage, just speed is what I need. My first one I bought was very disappointing and did not work straight out of box... took it back the same day and an extra 50 miles later and took a chance and exchange it for the same kind and glad I did. on sale for 699.99. I hope this one holds up!

great with one flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop about a week ago and love it. It is fast, quiet, and does everything you expect a laptop to do. I did read about the right shift key before buying and what bugged me about that was that the right shift key was not actually a delete key (I use the left shift key)! But, no problem! I used KeyTweak as the Lenovo rep suggested in other comments and now the lower right shift key is a delete key - and my productivity has not been hindered. My only complaint about this is there is no tab or indention on the cover, so opening it is not easy at all! You HAVE to keep one hand anchoring the laptop while the other hand searches for a spot your fingernail will wedge in so you can open it without flinging the entire thing across the table by accident. That's a major design flaw.

A fantastic laptop for a great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paid $660 for this guy when the full price was knocked down $150 and I bought the open box price. $660 for the latest and semi greatest tech. The ssd is perfectly fast, the touch screen is beautiful, the keys have a great feedback if you are an aggressive typer like myself. The trackpad is alright, but the speakers for me are very loud. If you get rid of some of lenovos bloatware and clean up windows right in the first several days, this laptop will treat you very well. If you are looking to upgrade this guy one day, you can but only to a certain extent. There is only one RAM slot on the motherboard, and that is a little frustrating as the inside of the laptop has plenty of free space to make room for a second if they made the motherboard a little bit bigger. But it is a good thing the RAM is ddr4, as you can buy a 16gb single stick for upgrade. The ssd in there now is great, but its SATAIII 6Gb/s. BUT, the connector on the motherboard can handle a pcie 10Gb/s m.2 if you are willing to pay for it. Over all this guy is a fantastic value when it is on sale and I would recomend this to any light, to moderate laptop user.

Great Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is just what my wife wanted after her current one died (7 year old Dell). It is so fast with the SSD drive. Boots up in seconds, not minutes. Very responsive touch screen. Light weight. I used Key Tweak to change the Shift and Page Up keys. Very satisfied!

Best laptop I've owned so far.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had originally purchased an HP that had a flashlight effect due to excessive backlight bleeding. And normal backlight bleeding all over the screen. And the quality in general was cheap. I exchange it for this 710 that I am typing this review on. And have loved it. The screen is crisp. Yes, there is a very small amount of backlight bleeding, but for I can tolerate it as it does not get in the way of my laptop use. This comes with JBL speakers. In comparison much much better than others that I've tested. Yes, it's nothing compared to a real speaker system or good headphones but for a laptop speaker this one rocks. Yes, this one did have an issue with the fan staying always on. But checking forums I found a fan control software that worked well for me. Now the fan only turns on during heavy use. It's slim, it's powerful, beautiful, and fast. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a powerful midrange laptop.

SO FAR SO GOOD......
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SO I WENT INTO BEST BUY LOOKING FOR A NEW LAPTOP BECAUSE THE TWO I'VE HAD OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS BROKE AFTER HARD DRIVE CRASHES. THIS TIME I DECIDED TO SPEND A BIT MORE MONEY AND GET ONE WITH A SSD DRIVE. I'VE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT THE YOGA LINE OF PRODUCTS SO I DECIDED ON THIS LAPTOP FOR THE LOOKS AND ALSO THE AMAZING SCREEN. SO FAR I'M ENJOYING IT. THE ONLY THINGS I HAVE TO GRIPE ABOUT IS THE HARD DRIVE SPACE BUT I KNEW WHAT I WAS GETTING INTO WITH THAT SITUATION. WE'LL SEE HOW I FEEL AFTER AWHILE. OH AND ALSO I WISH THEY WOULD'VE PUT AT LEAST ONE MORE USB PORT IN.

Excellent laptop for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only had this laptop for a couple of days now but I am very happy with it so far! I bought this as a "consolidation" laptop, so to speak. I'm a tech geek and software developer so I've gone through MacBooks, other Lenovo computers, Surface Pros, and so forth. This laptop appealed to me on three main fronts: 1) It features a 15 inch screen. 2) It converts into tablet mode and has a touch screen which makes testing Xamarin apps easier I find. 3) It has a discrete graphics unit. This laptop really has come through on all those aspects. The discrete GPU is nice because I can play games at 1080p on it and it helps with Photoshop. Plus having the Nvidia GPU is nice for CUDA development. The touch screen seems pretty responsive and the actual screen itself is gorgeous. I was *very* worried that I wouldn't like the 1080p screen after having gotten used to the "retina" displays of other companies, but I think the vibrancy of color makes up for the lack of pixels in this case. Finally, after using 12 inch screens for awhile, I'm enjoying going back to the 15 inch screen. Windows Hello and the fingerprint sensor work really well. It is worth mentioning that this laptop does have Kaby Lake so really it is on the bleeding edge of Intel processors. The only downside I feel is that the shift button on the right side is poorly designed (others have commented on this as well). I also personally am not a big fan of the power button on the side and I do wish USB-C was included in some capacity. Those are pretty minor gripes realistically though. Overall I am very satisfied with this laptop and I think it suits developers really well. It's not a fortune so you won't break the bank, but it is powerful enough that you can do any work on it, and play games as well!

Posted .Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga 710-15. With regard to the power button on the side and the addition of a USB-C port, we will look in to this for future improvements. With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP.

I love it except for keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine is very fast, lightweight but I dislike the keyboard. Lenovo changed the keyboard and minimized the right shift key. I understand that there is a way to change the pageup function and turn it into another shift key, Not sure I want to give up the uparrow. I realized that I use it a lot.

Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought an HP, which turned out to be a real piece of .... I returned it, came home, did some research, and went back and bought this. It's fast, easy to set up... Let me qualify that. I am not a gamer. This will be used for my job as a writer and theater critic; which means internet research - and tons of it. The only down side: Only 2 USB ports, which will require me to purchase a hub.

Ultra-portable Laptop with dedicated graphic card
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very well-priced laptop with all round specs and dedicated graphic card. I have been researching laptops for more than a year and I basically know all the models in the market. While it is not the thinnest or lightest laptop, I can tell you it is the best ultra-portable laptop for the price you pay for if you factor in all the hardware included. I have purchased this laptop for about a month and so far it meets my expectations. This laptop is perfect for you if you are any of the following type of users: - media consumption - college student of all majors - basic graphic/video editing - business users who need to analyze some decent size spreadsheets (1-2 GBs) or manipulate database stored on your laptop - occasion gamer Good: - Good battery life: word processing/ web processing: ~ 8 hours. video streaming: 5-6 hours - Very fast and responsive: less than 3 seconds to log into Window, never experience major lag when running applications - thin and light: 15.6" Laptop with 14" laptop's form factor - very thin bezels while webcam still stay on the top bezel - Very well built - all aluminium with no flex - finger-print sensors for window login - gorgeous and formal looking - dedicated graphic card allow occasion gaming and data science projects: 940 MX is not a powerful graphic card but it can handle some basic stuff - Wifi card is good. Meh: - Right Shift Key placed on the right of the Up arrow key - weird but not that hard to get over - webcam: It will serve the purpose, but not the best laptop webcam even it claims it is HD webcam. Bad: - No USB type C: I am indeedn disappointed knowing that there is no USB-C port. It will be a lot more future proof if is has USB_C **** - CPU fan sometimes does turn on even there is little workloads, but usually it turns off quickly and it does not happen that frequently. Just restart your laptop if it keeps turning on. - If you are pondering the options between this one and the i7 version, I highly recommend you to buy this instead. i5(7200U) and i7(7500U) basically perform the same if you look at the benchmark. So you are basically paying $150 more for extra 8GB rams, which is expandable on this laptop. -

Excellent Laptop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old laptop was reaching 10 years old, so it was definitely time for an upgrade! I did a lot of research before coming to this decision. Screen size is a personal preference, but I really do enjoy the real estate of a 15.6" screen. Sure, not quite as portable, but with this laptop, I don't feel that the extra size is a detriment. The design is very nice. I love the color. So many laptops are the silver color which I just personally don't like, so finding this one in black (dark grey really) was great. I really liked the Yoga 910 as well, especially the hinge design and screen, but decided on the 710 due to the larger screen. The thickness of this is amazing. So thin and low profile. Half as thick as my 10 year old laptop! Screen looks great, bright and sharp! The keyboard feel is excellent. Good travel and feel on the keys. The sound is good for a laptop. On par with others in the category. Ok, so the one downside (as many have mentioned in prior reviews), is the location of the right Shift key on the keyboard. Now, I was well aware of this BEFORE purchasing this item (jeez people, don't you do research before you purchase? I can't believe the number of reviews that didn't realize this until after their purchase). Is it annoying? Yes. Is it hard to get used to? Definitely! But why get used to it? If you have done your research you will know that there is an easy fix for this. There are many programs you can download to re-map your keyboard. I used one called SharpKeys and just swapped the location of the PgUp key and right Shift key. Now I can type just like I always have, and do not have any problems what so ever. Easy peasy! I noticed one review where he said that the right hinge is missing one of its pins. Well, I checked mine and it was the same! So I thought, well, that just seems odd, that can't be so common. Upon a closer examination, I found that the screen is only hinged (pinned) on one side of each of the hinges (the outside of each hinge). The additional "pin" you see on the inside left hinge is not actually a hinge pin. It's a wire harness cable that runs from the mother board to the screen. It just looks like another hinge pin until you take a very close look. That's why the right side is 'missing' one. The hinges are a good tightness and hold the screen well. It's a big screen, so you will get some wobble if you use the touch screen or are in a moving vehicle, but overall it's held in place really well. So far battery life is good, I have been getting between 7-8 hours per charge doing web surfing, spreadsheets, Netflix, and the like (mixture of these). I don't play games on the computer, so I can't speak to how that will affect the battery during heavy use of the video card. I keep the brightness at a reasonable amount during use, but often on the higher brightness settings. Overall, I am VERY happy with this purchase. I will update if anything changes, but so far, so good! I would really rate 4.75 stars for making me re-map the keyboard, but again, super easy fix. Oh, and I love the fingerprint reader to log into Windows! Super fast and easy.
