Worst computer purchase ever!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rotated through 3 non-functioning Lenovo computers. To summarize, Lenovo has major software and hardware issues. The software has major clashes with Windows 10, in accordance to the Microsoft folks who tried to help me. When I sought out the advise of Lenovo, they stated they could not assist me without purchasing an extended warranty. However, thanks to the rockin’ Best Buy staff, I was able to purchase a great Dell Inspiron and now I am as happy as can be! If I could rate this Lenovo with zero stars I would...however Thank you Best Buy for saving me!

Posted .We are sorry to hear you had issues with your Lenovo Yoga 720-13. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the touchscreen on your Lenovo Yoga 730-13. This issue may be caused by a recent Windows 10 update that requires an additional BIOS and drivers update. This can be easily done by using the Lenovo Utility software installed on this device. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.

Battey life is TERRIBLE
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop in December of 2017. I am a teacher so I need my laptop to last all day and the battery life of this laptop is absolutely terrible. I have never gotten more than 3 hours of battery life out of it. I must recommend you stay as far away from this laptop as possible, save your money, and get something a little more premium. Also, the battery life did not change with replacement! Dismal experience.

Poor quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After the first year, the screen started to flickers/flash. I did not purchase the extended warranty. The cost to get repairs is $400 dollars. I still have stored on my shelf waiting to fix it. Do your research before you buy next computer. Look at reviews that are year later or more. The computer you are buying should last more than a year, not few weeks.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer for my soon to be college student in 2017. This computer only lasted a year and then it stopped working. I was told it was the power surge which was due to poorly manufacturing from Lenovo. I was told it would be anywhere from $600 to $900 to repair.

For the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's hard not to give an eight-hundred dollar quad-core laptop four stars, so there they are. But it's not to be confused with a Thinkpad or other "premium" laptop: 1) Plastic touch screen, and I suspect plastic underneath aluminum plating all around (has an affect on thermal performance) 2) The keyboard is cheap. It's stiff enough to be perfectly usable, but my Enter key is already sticking after 36 hours, just like my old Lattitudes and Inspiron used to do. The keyboard on my Macbook Air and XPS 13 were all-around better, especially for long-term typing sessions. 3) The ability to swap the Fn and Control keys is gone from the BIOS. The keys are in the usual Windows position, so most will rejoice; but I switch between Apple and PC daily, and having Fn on the end was a major selling point for Lenovos. 4) Speakers are awful, when compared to my 2013 Macbook Air. Just awful. I don't recall being impressed with the Dell XPS 13's speakers, either, but I think these are worse, and in any position. The chassis vibrates at higher volumes, and there's no lower-range to human vocals. Without the little Dolby utility, it's far worse still. 5) Short battery life. Fine for the size and price, but it's a lithium ion rather than denser lithium polymer battery. 6) one of the USB-c ports is actually USB 3, not thunderbolt. Could confuse people at some point. Pros: It seems to occupy a unique niche right now. Any other 8th gen notebook will cost hundreds more for the same performance. I'm glad to be able to buy this without having to think of it lasting for 4-5 years in order for the purchase to be rational. I can think of it as a 3-year device, much like my phones of the same price, and upgrade when the battery inevitably starts to flag after a couple of years. What's the point of spending almost double on a premium device when the non-replaceable battery will start to give out after a few hundred charge cycles? So, there's no way to call this a bad laptop: just not a premium one. It's also the same effective size as any other ultraportable: it's a little larger than my 11-inch MBA, possibly a very little bit smaller than my late-2016 Macbook Pro at the office, and I think thinner than my 2015 XPS 13 was, but they're all effectively the same. The rest is just specsmanship. Heck: I've basically been buying laptops of this size since my Thinkpad X60 in 2006. That one was a bit thicker but smaller in all other dimensions and had 10 hrs of extended battery life.

Posted .This system has JBL stereo speakers with Dolby Premium Sound, be sure you have Dolby Premium Sound turned on for the best audio performance. The standard battery life on this model is up to 8 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. Be sure you don't have any unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. This configuration has both a USB-c 3.0 port and a Thunderbolt 3.1 port for the greatest connectivity potential. It is still possible to reverse the function keys within Windows 10. Nice, portable PC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this computer for a couple of weeks now and I am really enjoying it. Coming from a clunky old Dell Inspiron this is a nice upgrade. It's fast, lightweight, and i'm getting over 8 hours of battery life, so much that I forget to keep track. I read somewhere that you should charge the battery fully before first use and then let it go to 0 as this calibrates the battery...? I have no idea if this is true but I did just that and I can't believe how long I can go without a charge doing light office work, which included playing video for over 2 hours. I'm so comfortable with the battery life that I forget to bring my power cord with me when I'm on the go. The only complaint I have is that the touch screen doesn't feel as nice as some other 2-in-1's, and after using it for a few days I noticed that there is a very slight yellow/green tint to the display. This was driving me insane, but I was able to tweak the Intel Graphics card color settings which definitely helped. I know this is a FHD, but even computers with the same graphics card seemed to have slightly better color pigmentation than the Yoga, in my opinion. I struggled with exchanging it for another model because of this, but at the end of the day I couldn't let it go because I love the other features. Also, I keep reading about fan noise. There is fan noise during first use while it's installing updates, and maybe periodically for a couple of days, but since its completed all of the Windows installs there has been no noise at all. It's super quiet in fact. Even with the fan going it's extremely quiet compared to what used to be standard in older PCs. People need to maintain some perspective, it's really nothing to complain about. I appreciate the dual fans anyway because unlike other models I tried this computer stays cool during use. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. I wish the keyboard had a bit more travel, and there's the small display issue that I need to follow-up with Lenovo on, but other than that, I like it.

On the fence
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to get this laptop as it has the right specs and size but there's some question on the processor speed for me. I learned that the Core i7 version (15 inch) has the turbo turned off and have not been able to tell if this one does as well. If so, don't get it, the core clock speed is too slow without turbo. Lenovo support didn't even know there was an 8th Generation and then pointed me to Intel, which wasn't helpful. Other questions I had I can answer: Battery life: I'm getting around 6.5-7 hours with recommended brightness and wifi / Bluetooth on. Pretty good for the size and I think should get most through the day. It has a Wacom digitizer and works with the Bamboo Stylus and Active Pen 2. Not on the page so worth mentioning. RAM is not upgradable on the 13inch, but you can replace the m2 storage if you want. Probably don't need to. Key travel is a little lower than I expect, but it's not bad. Build quality is better than HP but my clamshell closes offset just a smidge and my spacebar is lower than other keys. If I decide to keep it I'll get it swapped out. I'm on the fence on this based on the processor. The clock speed is a lot lower due to four cores, so without some confirmation that turbo is enabled it will go back. I'll update the review if appropriate. I wouldn't buy this until that point is clear. It's close to 1 full Ghz slower.

Posted .This configuration comes with the Intel Core i5-8250U processor. It is a quad-core/eight thread processor. The base processor speed is 1.6GHz and the Turbo Boost speed is up to 3.6GHz, depending on system load. The Turbo Boost feature is automatic and controlled by the processor. The battery life of this model is up to 8-hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. This system is compatible with select active/digital pens, but the pen is not included, it needs to be purchased separately.

So impressed, I bought two
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I both had Toshiba 15.6" laptops that were over six years old, so we were in the market for an upgrade. My wife also uses an iPad for reading. After a lot of research, I decided the Yoga would fill the needs of both of us. I got them on sale for $699 each with the generation 8 Intel processor. I use a Dell laptop with SSD drive for work, but these Lenovo Yoga's 2-in-1's blow it away. They boot very fast, load web pages and applications quickly, and come with very little "bloatware" that is found on most consumer computers. When I first got the computer setup, I was a bit concerned with a yellowish tint the screen had, which was bad enough to make me consider returning them, but after a bit of Googling, I discovered how to eliminate that. There is a small pinhole just in front of the audio jack that can be used to boot the computer into BIOS. Press the Fn key by itself, and then F9 (do not press at the same time). It then asks for "Optimal Load Defaults" - select Yes and press enter. Press the F10 to save and exit. This procedure fixed the yellowish tint I experienced. The screen is now looks what one would expect from an FHD device. I don't use the tablet feature or the touchscreen that much, but my wife does, and she has now stopped using the iPad altogether. I'm so glad I found these before spending twice as much on a Microsoft Surface laptop that had fewer features, and I highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed with your purchase.
