After months of research and comparing products, I made the decision to go with this model. After one month of use, I do not regret this decision. **DISCLAIMER** I did not purchase a pen so there is no review of the laptop's pen abilities. To start, the unboxing was great. The Yoga 730 series has an amazing design. The bezels are not too invasive, the 360 flexibility is great and its not hard to move back and forth. The aluminum chassis makes the laptop look sturdy and it does hold up. Its sleek, sophisticated, and most of all it remains light and easy to carry. Even with it being on the heavier side as far as ultrabooks go, it is not a hard device to lug around. Lenovo, as they always do, SERIOUSLY delivers on the keyboard and mouse pad. It is arguably the best features of the Yoga 730. The mouse pad in particular, is the best one I have ever used hands down. Its incredibly responsive and it almost eliminates the need for a mouse if you don't plan on using it. The touch screen itself is good. Where I ran into the only issues I have overall with the laptop is tablet mode. The automatic rotate and switch feature is rather slow at times. At one point, it would stay in tablet mode and not auto rotate, which was annoying. I would highly suggest going into your tablet mode settings and set it to "Never switch and don't ask" and then switching to tablet mode manually as you wish to use it. Above everything else, I absolutely love how versatile this particular model is. Although I dislike the increasingly annoying trend of preventing self upgrading the RAM, this model allows you to upgrade the SSD which is necessary if you are easily strapped for storage space. It has 2 USB 3.0 Ports, an HDMI output, and best of all a Thunderbolt 3 USB port. I have a Razer Core GPU enclosure and I am simply amazed by how well the Yoga 730 takes to it and can run games (with external monitor). Of course most of the hard work is being done by the external enclosure, and there are FAR better options for gaming laptops, the PC still holds up incredibly well for gaming with the right amount of help. This is a well put together machine, and for anyone who needs a new laptop, don't sleep on Lenovo. I am very happy with this product. I am more than certain, you will be as well!

It should be known that I registered the default Windows OS it comes with to my Microsoft account and then immediately formatted the PC with Linux (Fedora). IT comes loaded with some vendor software that I did not bother to look at. Overall, it performs very admirably. I am quite impressed with it. Quick, decent battery life, touch screen with a pen is awesome. and it folds into tablet mode. What's not to love? It's a great ultrabook style laptop. I highly recommend it. For anyone considering loading Ubuntu or Fedora on this laptop from personal experience I can tell you I had a few issues I needed to deal with to get it working. Firstly, you will need to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS (WARNING THIS WILL ERASE YOUR HDD COMPLETELY!!!) to get wifi working. You can install Linux with it enabled but it will likely affect your wifi hardware and prevent it from working. The next thing, on Ubuntu 18.04 I had to blacklist a kernel module ideapad to get WIFI working, this was not the case on Fedora 29 (dunno why). This was accomplished by running the command sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ideapad.conf <<< "blacklist ideapad_laptop" The fingerprint reader does not work in Linux. Synaptic refuses to release drivers for it. Which I think Lenovo, being a supporter of Linux, should change hardware vendors in that case. The pen however works fantastic if you load on xOrg and not Wayland. Wayland is still to young to work properly IMHO on just about any device.

Upset with Lenovo- Yoga 730 Quality

We purchased our Lenova Yoga 730 i7 on 9/23/18 at a Best Buy in Castleton, IN. The Salesman at Best Buy said it was a great laptop computer. We were purchasing a new laptop for my daughter as she is Pre-Med at IUPUI. I received a text from my daughter 3 months later showing me a picture of the screen on her new laptop. There were a series of black and white vertical lines that totally disrupted what you could see on the screen. This was just before finals week. She shut the computer off and restarted and it was okay. I received a call 2 weeks ago and she sent me a video of what here computer screen was doing. Again, wide vertical white and black strips with a loud static noise coming from the computer. I couldn't make out anything on the computer screen. I had her take the computer back to the Best Buy Store in Castleton, IN and they told here that they've seen this before with this computer. They told her that it would be 2-3 weeks to send the computer back into Lenovo for warranty. They said that if Lenovo couldn't duplicate what the computer has been doing when they went to evaluate it that they would not fix it and it would get sent back. So I just spent over $1000 for a computer that can't work more than 3 months and to find out that they only way it can be fixed is if it stops working. Really!! I'm furious!! This is my first time purchasing a Lenovo PC and it will be my last!!! I won't hesitate to tell everyone I know!

I was quickly impressed by the sleek design and 2-1 functionality especially with the pen. But immediately after unboxing. I realized that was all it had going for it. Returned within days. WiFi issues. Yes they exist. Your connection will drop every 5 minutes or less. Immediately checked in the settings to see if the driver was up to date, which it was, restarted and the issue persist. Finally I was able to find a newer driver online that I had to manually install. Once installed, the WiFi worked consistently but was slow. My 4 year old Acer is faster. There is a severe lack of software support from Lenovo or Realtek (the wireless chip manufacturer) to correct this issue. Lenovo was trying to skimp out by using a cheaper less supported chip and it shows. Hardware issues Screen flickering. By the end of day 4, the screen had flickered twice. Not a huge issue but I'd imagine it would get worse if I kept it for longer. Keyboard issues. Keys randomly stopped working all the time. Lag is present when you type. At first I thought it was a software issue as one second it would work and the next it would not. So I tried updating drivers, factory resetting, resetting bios, disabling keyboard settings, etc. Nothing worked. I concluded it was a hardware issue. Do NOT buy this laptop if you want to type or go online. It is worthless. Due to Lenovo spending extra money on the sleek all metal design as compared to other manufacturers. They use cheaper less reliable components. Very disappointed.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issue with your Lenovo Yoga 730-13. Based on the description of the issues you are experiencing, there may be a software update needed. You can easily check this by scanning the device with the Lenovo Utility software installed on the computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Bought the Lenovo for work. Seemed like a great device with the option to be able to use it as a tablet too. However after I had it 17 days (past the 15 return date) the battery wouldn't charge. Contacted support and they have me try new drives, updating etc. When that doesn't work they tell me to mail it to their repair center. I told them no I spent over $1000 and that isn't going to happen as I use it for work and can't just send it out for repair. AND it is brand new I should not have to do that. So they charge me another $84.00 and someone will come to the house to fix it (I guess you get this option 1 time under warranty? not sure) Anyway they took my $84.00 8 days ago and still no one has shown up or contacted me to fix the battery. So I contacted them again yesterday to ask when someone is going to come fix it. Well seems they are out of the parts (what no batteries???) so i need to wait until they get the parts to have someone fix it. So here I sit attached to the wall when I want to use my brand new expensive Lenovo. Also no idea if when they fix it if it will actually be repaired correctly and work with no issues going forward. I should have probably bought a regular laptop from a different company as this one doesn't seem to care that a brand new machine has issues. So right now the way I am feeling about this probably won't buy their brand again in the future.

I purchase the Lenovo Yoga 730 15 a few days ago and I am very happy with it. I think a lot of the negative reviews come from people who don’t update their drivers and such, as I to had some problems with it out of the box, but they were all resolved once I updated my drivers. I purchased this laptop for school work and light web browsing. And I couldn’t be happier. I purchased it for about 830 dollars after tax, and I got 100 dollars off with the student discount. For the price, this laptop is amazing. I’ve been seeing a lot of people complain about the battery life, which I get up to 10 hours on battery saver mode and average about 7-8 hours on performance mode. Which is perfectly fine especially when it has lightning fast charging, I can get 2 hours of battery life in 15 minutes of charging, and it is fully charged within 45 minutes to 1 hour. The trackpad is excellent, probably the best I’ve ever used on a laptop. The i7 core is incredibly fast and is great for music production and photoshop. It’s also light as feather and has a great screen. I’m not thrilled about touchscreen and tablet support, but they work great and though I never really use them, their still a cool option to have. Overall, if you’re a student on a budget, you cannot go wrong with this laptop. I compared it to other laptops In the same price range and they were less powerful and more expsnive. I give the lonovo 730 15 i7 model a solid 8/10.

I purchased this computer and loved it at first. It is designed very nicely, light weight, beautiful big screen. The first laptop I received had an issue with the laptop screen staying open. Because it can turn into a tablet you can move the screen, the problem is it will move on it’s own. I tried to lay back on my sofa with it and it will fall forward or back. It’s not in a stiff position so it moves too much. A few times it just randomly closed from a slight movement I made. I took it back in hopes I had a defective laptop and exchanged it for a new one. After one hour of using the 2nd computer my screen started flickering. I got scared and thought maybe it was my lights that flickered not the computer. Then the next day it flickered non stop. Lines all through the computer flickering. A few times it had a black screen, then flicker, then a white screen with static. I finally just returned the computer and got a full refund. I’m not the only one with a flickering screen issue. If you simply google or YouTube this problem, you can see examples of others having this issue. It’s a good looking computer but after 2 that didn’t work well right out the box, no thanks!

    Wifi Will Not Detect Networks

I just bought this yesterday and today, it is not detecting Wifi networks. Well, that isn't quite true. It detects them for a total of 5 seconds and then says that there are no wifi networks available. There are 2 very strong networks here at my work and about 10 others very close. I uninstalled the antivirus thinking it might be interfering. No luck. I upgraded the drivers. No luck. I downgraded the drivers. No luck. I disabled and reenabled the card. No luck. I have just about run out of things to do. It doesn't even pick up the signal when I am standing right under the access point! I have read Lenovo's responses to similar issues about making sure that the routers have the latest firmware. This is pretty much garbage advice as it is impossible to know what level of firmware a particular router is on unless you own it, so forget using wifi anywhere else than home. That pretty much makes the unit worthless for the average person. Lenovo has a good reputation and I would have expected better. Needless to say, it is going back as soon as I can get my original packaging back together. I may or may not try another unit. I am seriously thinking of trying a different brand altogether.

We are sorry to hear that you are having WiFi connectivity issues with your Lenovo Yoga 730-15. We recommend you use the Lenovo Utility software installed on this computer to update all operating software, including Windows 10 Operating System, the BIOS files and the communications drivers on the device. Just updating drivers will not change out dated BIOS files. Also be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the device. Updating the firmware on your home router will indicate what the problem is. Just go to the web page for the router manufacturer you use at home. Find your router model and check for firmware updates for your specific router. If the problem is fixed for your home router, you now know the source of the issue. Regarding using the Lenovo Utility software, This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Being a novice at purchasing a laptop I really researched to the point of being overwhelmed. I finally selected this laptop. I truly wanted one with a dvd player so I compromised a bit on this one. Im not a gamer but I plan on runing a cad program so I was told to purchase this laptop. First off the laptop froze on set up twice. Could not get out of it so i powered off and upon re connecting i was on the same page. I finally googled on my phone and it told me to unplug and hold power button for a set amount of time. It worked. When starting over it froze again. I repeated the first step and started again. This time it continued until compleated. I realized I had no backlight? I turned it on and off several times and it would go on for maybe 3 seconds and turn off. Power botton remains lit but keyboard does not. I googled and the only thing i could find was to do what i initially did when it froze twice and that was to power off or clear everything back to factory setting. Im done. This is brand new and already having to figure out why there are issues. Packing it up and going back. I think Linova Yoga is still the one to get but maybe a 12 or 16 instead of 8 for the cad program and a 17" screen. I did not want to go over $700 and went over $800 now probably over $1000. I want the dvd now as well as a strong laptop to run the 2020 Cad program.....Help!!

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the initial activation of Windows 10. From the description of the issue you are having, it is possible that restoring Windows 10 back to the original factory settings and starting over again may fix the problem. Since you can no longer boot the device, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of the device, right near the headphone jack on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

I have used a Dell Studio for 8 years and it was seriously the best. The battery life is toast at this point but I still have to use it to supplement this brand new Lenovo laptop. That is ridiculous. It doesn't come with an SD slot, it doesn't recognize my older hard drive, and the battery life isn't even that impressive. The SD card slot isn't a deal breaker because I bought an external one for under $10 that connects to the USB port, but it's still a nusance. The fact that it is SSD is the main point that sold me on this laptop and it better live up to its claim to last longer than an HDD. The features it does claim to have like projecting to my tv and other projectors haven't worked. They say I need to download the drivers, and I have an it hasn't worked. My Dell Studio has no problem doing these things so that is SO frustrating to witness. If my Dell wasn't so old and slow at this point I'd use it forever but instead I'm stuck with this purchase which I can't return because the time window has passed. Even if I could return it, I'm skeptical I'd find one that does what my OLD Dell does anyway. So...it's fine if you have low standards and just want a laptop that turns on and lets you browse the internet quickly.

I bought this laptop to help with my online college courses. I use it almost every day. It has a great look to it and the picture is sharp. I like that it didn't have the extra numeric keyboard since I do not need it. It works great with Excel, Word and PowerPoint. I love that I can flip it over and watch movies in tablet mode. One of the downsides is trying to unlock it with my fingerprint. I have set it up numerous times and it still only reads my print once in a while. Then it says that my pin is needed and a little bit under that it says that my pin has expired due to security changes so I have to sign in using my Microsoft account. I can reset my pin that day and it will still say it is expired. I don't mind signing in, the reason I gave it a 4 star rating is that it is preloaded with stuff I do not want or use. The biggest reason why I took a star off is that you have to use the Microsoft app store which is horrible and doesn't offer half the apps that Google play or iTunes has. So even though you can use it as a tablet you can't load any of the apps you want to use. Overall, I like it very much and use it daily.

(READ FULL REVIEW) I am writing this review late because of my very busy schedule. So, I bought this laptop last month after extensive net surfing. When I started using it, the design is pretty good but the main problem was internet connectivity. Despite trying three different routers, wifi does not stay connected for long and then you have to delete your wifi software (ReakTek), reinstall it and it will start working again until to be disconnected. I wish I could have returned it sooner and would have bought Mac book. (will regret it for a long time). Despite of my very busy schedule, I could not return it on time and now have to wait on hold for quite a long time when I call Lenovo support service. I would not recommend anyone to buy this laptop if you have busy schedule and you find it hard to take out time to return to store if any issue comes up. (I KNOW THAT LENOVO WILL LEAVE A STANDARD REPLY BUT IT WONT IMPRESS ME, STUCK WITH THIS MACHINE)

this laptop has a mind of its own. When you open a browser and search something it will always open in a new tab, when you turn on the device it might not respond to anything and won't let you input your password, its not that fast, the touch screen has a mind of its own sometimes and I clean my screen so something on it is not the problem, there will be random pop up when you turn on the device after turning the system off like McAfee, explorer exe, and other background applications I guarantee youve never seen before that harass you and wont let you open other applications on start up and slow down the whole system until they are dealt with. the computer acts like you are pushing keys when you arent and mind you I take good care of my device and keep it clean. I have always had these problems since getting this device. I would not buy again or recommend to anyone.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga 730-15. It is possible the issue you describe may be due to either a problem with the initial activation and setup of Windows 10 and/or incompatible software installed on the device. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. lenovo

Got an amazing deal on the Lenovo Yoga and it's everything I wanted and more. I spent a lot of time debating on whether or not to get a replacement for my tablet and this purchase is exactly what I wanted. I also purchased the Lenovo pen and it has been perfect for my needs. It's lightweight, portable, and very convenient. The keyboard has a great feel and it's easy to use. Didn't take any time getting used to the key layout. This is the perfect computer for on the couch web surfing to my daily work. I am a writer so I spend a significant amount of time on my yoga. The battery life is about 8-10 hours with heavy use and it recharges quickly. This was an excellent purchase and I cannot say enough good stuff about it. The ONLY drawback I can find is that the pen doesn't have a built-in space and the holder takes up one of the USB ports. But... so minor in the grand scheme of things.

I wanted a very slim and light laptop. This one is slim but not what I'd call light. The good news is that weight seems to be due to a very solid build quality. The entire case is metal and very strong. The hinges are sturdy as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality on the onboard JBL speakers. For a slim laptop they really do a nice job. Performance wise I was very impressed to see it would run my PowerDirector video production software at a very reasonable speed. The machine is quite and stay's cool even when being worked hard (video production is brutal). The only thing that grinds my gears is the fact that it's missing a SD reader. No excuse for that omission. They don't take up that much space but now I have to lug around a USB SD reader. The touchscreen is excellent though Windows 10 is still not a great touchscreen based OS so I don't use it much. Overall it's the best bang for the buck in terms of performance when compared to any other brand on the market in this price range and there's really no downside to it.

I have had this laptop for over a month and the performance of the laptop seems to be very good. I had to return the 1st one of these that I bought due to a network adapter that was constantly dropping my wireless connection. I returned the laptop before the 14 day return policy at Best Buy and the second one has been fine so far. I actually bought the same PC for my college son with an I5 processor and his laptop has been fine. The form factor of the 2 in 1 with a 15 inch screen is nice, although given the size I am not sure how often I will really use the tablet configuration, I think it is just to large for use as a tablet. The only thing that I wish was better is the battery life. I typically run out of battery using it during a normal day and it requires me to plug it in. I have used this laptop to replace my home desktop computer so the battery life is not a deal breaker for me.

The Lenovo Yoga 730-15 ships with a 3CELL 51.5WH, Lithium Polymer battery, with a battery life of up to 9 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. The Yoga 730-15, as you point out, has great WiFi connectivity. It may be necessary to up date communications drivers at initial setup of the device. You can easily accomplish this by using the Lenovo Utility software installed on the computer. I have been using my open box laptop for two weeks, and I love it, but it has a few problems. Namely the screen has weird "drag" spots. So when using a pen to draw there are areas that feel... Sticky or almost rough... I tested a bunch of laptops... And samsung screens were all smooth like butter but most of the lenovas had this issues. That being said for the price and considering I don't draw much... I'm willing to overlook it. And other than that I was loving it... Until tonight. My speaker blew?! I have barely used it and never at full volume. It just popped and now its blown... For no reason. Last important thing. This is a best buy version. The folks at lenova don't even know the config inside. I wanted to upgrade the ram or HD and Noone can tell me if that's possible but cause this config is so weird. So... That's it. Its a beautiful machine and worth the price if those few things don't bother you.

Concerning your issue with using an active/digital pen with the Yoga 730-15, this model uses a glass front panel for the touchscreen interface, there should be no "drag spots". We recommend you have the Best Buy Geek Squad take a look at this issue, since this is an Open Box model. This model ships with stereo JBL speakers, with Dolby Atmos sound enhancement software. This version of Dolby Atmos software is for use with headphones. If you are using the system speakers with this version of Dolby Atmos, we recommend you turn off Dolby Atmos while using the system speakers. If the audio problem persists, you can scan the BIOS and Driver software on this device by using the Lenovo Utility software installed on the computer. With regard to upgrading the Yoga 730-15, This model is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. We recommend you consult your certified technician for your options for upgrading this device. If you continue to have issues with your Yoga 730-15, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad. lenovo

Had it for a month and starting about a week ago this laptop is keep dropping wifi signal every 5 minutes. I thought it maybe my router or something else because I never imagined “Brand new” laptop is doing this. Well, I was wrong. Guys before you buy this, search for “Lenovo yoga 730 losing wifi signal” there are so many customers having this issue it’s because Lenovo used cheap Realtek adaptor. Many customers contacted Lenovo and seems like they don’t care about it. I haven’t contacted them yet, I will find out I guess. I am very upset, new laptop is already having issue a month later. According to Lenovo forum, only solution is to buy a intel adapter yourself and install it. I will take it to Best Buy also to see what they will do.

The Lenovo Yoga 730-15 ships with the latest 5G 802.11AC frequency WiFi. If you are having WiFi issues, first be sure your b/g/n router has the latest firmware updates available from the router manufacturer's web site. 802.11AC frequency WiFi is backward compatible to older b/g/n frequencies, but for the best connectivity, make sure your b/g/n router has the latest firmware update. You can keep the operating system and supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date on this computer, by regularly scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software installed on the computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. WiFi keeps disconnecting every 3-5 mins

I bought the Lenovo 730 laptop a week ago. It has great looks and good configuration (i7 processor, 8GB RAM, 256 SSD). I also got a great deal. But then when I started using it I found that the WiFi kept disconnecting after every 3-5 mins. My other devices were working fine so I was sure my WiFi was not a problem. Then I did some research online and found that this is a known issue with the Realtek WiFi card which Lenovo is using in their laptops. I thought this might be a manufactured defect. So I returned it to Best Buy and replaced in with another same model. To my surprise this also had the same WiFi disconnecting issue and it had the same Realtek card. I finally bought HP spectre. Lenovo should use the intel WiFi card rather than Realtek. I am really upset with Lenovo and I would not recommend it to anyone.
