Nice upgrade from 7 year old laptop

Given that it’s replacing a 7-year old laptop, it’s not really that hard to be impressed by the performance. The touch screen is nice but takes getting used to using. Meaning we’re just not mentally conditioned to touch the screen on a laptop. The speed is sufficient. Though I haven’t gotten around to installing Photoshop on it yet, so we’ll see if that holds up. Design wise, the computer is very nice and you have to love the uniqueness of the hinge. I also like the fingerprint reader. We’re still getting used to it but overall we like the computer. My wishes: -User upgradeable RAM, I like to upgrade myself, not the case here. Might be the same roadblock with the SSD. -A 15” size monitor -Rubber feet to protect the keyboard surface should you lay it down in tablet mode -All the pre-installed “junk” -A place to store the stylus it comes with

Although a certified technician can make adjustments to this system, ultra portables are not user upgradable. There are ultra portable 15.6" 2 in 1 models available like the Yoga 720-15: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-yoga-720-2-in-1-15-6-4k-ultra-hd-touch-screen-laptop-intel-quad-core-i7-16gb-memory-512gb-ssd-platinum-silver/5722755.p?skuId=5722755. The keyboard is recessed, so there is no need for "rubber feet" when the device is in tablet mode and placed on a desk. The Yoga 920-14 uses a clean Windows 10 install. In addition to Windows 10, there is only a 30-day trial of McAfee virus software. There is Lenovo companion software/utilities to improve the Windows 10 experience and keep the system up to date. The ultra slim configuration of the Yoga 920-14 precludes storing the active pen within the device.

everything seems to be fine, but...

But the base of the laptop is a little bit unstable, which almost drives me crazy. when I put my hands on the keyboards, the keyboards will shake, I don't know if every yoga920 laptop has the same problem...I am thinking should I replace it or return it... :(

Down side for me was it would go into tablet mode while still sitting like a laptop. Couldn’t fix the problem and returned the laptop to Bestbuy. Could have been only this one laptop but wasn’t taking a risk.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you had issues with your Lenovo Yoga 920-14. The issue you describe sounds like an issue with old BIOS/Drivers in conflict with a new Windows 10 update that recently was released. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.

It was very easy to set up (and I'm not very technologically inclined). So far, the only issue I've noticed is that my Java Script seems to not work on one of the websites that I visit, but I'm not sure if that's related to this device or to something else.

With regard to issues with a specific web site, be sure the web site is compatible with the Windows 10 Internet Browser, Edge. You might try a different internet browser like Chrome or Fire Fox to see if your web site will load with a different browser.

Sharp edges

Also there must have been some driver issues because google chrome kept on crashing on me.

I use it for nursing school and works great. I've had a couple times when the sound wouldn't work but I restart and comes back on. Also can get very hot if your using it while charging at a low percent, so I try charging it when not using it.

Really nice while it worked

Con: 2nd Lenovo in a row that has broken down on us way too early, though. The touchscreen stopped working after about 18 months. At two years, coming back from sleep mode stopped working properly. At 28 months, the battery suddenly stopped taking a charge and performance slowed to an absolute crawl. Anti-virus and anti-malware programs didn't fix it. Too much time is being spent trying to fix this instead of doing work, so I probably have to go computer shopping again. I've had better luck with cheap HPs and a MacBook
