Good laptop choice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, let me say, I received the Lenovo Yoga 920 as part of the Best Buy Tech Insider program in exchange for my honest review. I have been using the Yoga 920 now for over one week and I have been very happy. For the past several months I have been using another brand convertible laptop with the 7th generation I5 processor. This Yoga has the brand new 8th generation I7 processor and there is a noticeable improvement in performance and battery life. I am getting a full day and more out of the yoga laptop with normal use. The laptop operates as quick and smooth as any windows machine I have had an opportunity to use. There is a backlit keyboard and a 13.9 inch touch screen. Even though the screen on this version is HD instead of quad HD the quality is very good with sharp text and great color reproduction. If I only had one complaint, it would be that there is only one standard USB port, but there are two USB C ports. I guess that is the future and I should move ahead, but I still would like to have seen another full size USB port on the machine. Lenovo provides software that makes setting up the laptop very easy. The keyboard has a great feel and the mouse pad is large and responsive. The laptop I received had the stylus pen included in the box. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better small to mid-sized laptop that has a better feature set, feel and performance than the Lenovo 920 Buy it, you won't be sorry.

Posted .With regard to the touchpad, you can make adjustments to the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom left of your Windows 10 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "Mouse & touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad.

wasted time money and stress
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer I purchased had defective parts and the Lenovo company really dragged me through the mud. When I sent my computer in for repairs through the warranty, they further damaged the computer and then tried to charge me hundreds of dollars to get my computer back, accusing me of having damaged it myself. The only thing that saved me was that I had taken many photos and documentation before shipping the computer. Otherwise my computer would have been held for ransom until I paid this insane amount of money for an already expensive computer to be returned. They weren’t even even effectively communicating with me about the situation, they just started sending me these bills with no explanation. The whole thing was a crazy nightmare mess. The kicker? They sent it back even more broken than how I sent it in. P.s. this computer also has some quirks that you wouldn’t expect from such and expensive laptop. The power button sticks out of the outside so it is constantly turning on when moved which equals to always being dead when I go to turn it on. Also it consistently switches to touch mode for no reason.

Pretty Slick
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say... I love this laptop. They took great ideas and made them into a functional machine. Initial Impressions: The packaging had a very high end look and feel with magnetic closures on the inside and separate compartments for the power, documentation and included pen. The laptop was presented to you as you opened it like the holy grail, very well thought out presentation. Setup: Setup was quick and easy, I appreciated the thought put into the plastic pen holder that slides into the USB port so there isn't a waste of space or function if you choose not to use the pen. The one downside to the pen holder is that with the pen in the holder it blocks the power button... Kind of an odd thing to do when there is so much open space on the other side of the laptop or even inside the lid. Setup of Windows started with Cortana speaking and it easily understood my voice commands and completed setup in no time at all. I chose to use the fingerprint reader and it appears to be fairly accurate. The one oddity of setup is that it had me set up a local account instead of using my Microsoft account, and while that's not necessarily a negative thing, it seems as though Lenovo has made certain modifications to the setup process (this includes requesting contact information and registering you for McAfee... more on that later). You're fortunately able to skip giving Lenovo too much information or signing up for email for them to contact you, but the registration portion appears to be unavoidable. Usage: This thing is quick. Which shouldn't be a surprise as it has an 8th gen i7 and an SSD drive. The drive itself is lightning fast, achievingg 1.8GBps read and 1.3GBps write speeds, clearly an NVMe drive, which appears to be made by Samsung. The pen is a nice touch, I can definitely tell it had the many levels of sensitivity that are advertised, however it does require much more pressure to use than I'm used to with other similar devices. This may prevent false clicking and writing that I've experienced in those devices, but I have to wonder about hand fatigue in a long session of writing. Folding the screen backward is a unique experience with this device, as it, with many previous Lenovo Yoga devices has the watch band hinge which creates a cool aesthetic as well as being functional. Bloatware: It comes installed with McAfee as I mentioned before, and it's only valid for 1 month, so I'll be promptly uninstalling that. The Lenovo apps aren't bad, if a little redundant with one another. The Companion app makes sure you have system updates and gets you in contact with support, also displays your serial number and such, while the Settings app again displays your serial number and brings to the front some control panel type options. There is, of course the trial install of Microsoft Office, and strangely enough it has Plex installed. All-in-all it's not too intrusive with the bloat, but more than I'd like, especially the multiple Lenovo apps and McAfee. I considered removing a star for the bloatware, but it's not taking away from the function of the device, it's more just a slight annoyance. Overall impression: This thing is pretty sweet. Get passed a bit of bloatware and some extra steps in the setup process and you'll have yourself a very nice machine.

Almost there...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: fast quad core processor, fast Samsung PM961 SSD, quiet (even in performance mode), improved keyboard over the 910, good trackpad, Thunderbolt 3, standard USB-C charging, USB-A connection. solid WiFi with consistent throughput, fingerprint reader with Windows Hello, relocated camera at the top of the screen, great build quality, and nice thin, light design. Cons: Mysterious battery usage when sleeping which is keeping me from getting better than 10 hours at 50% brightness, screen isn't terribly bright and does exhibit some backlight bleed at the bottom, the bottom bezel is still unnecessarily large, display color and contrast is only average, and no automatic backlight on keyboard (only on/off setting) I have been using a Dell XPS 13 9360 for quite a while now and believe it is a pretty fair comparison to the Yoga 920. The Dell has an FHD screen also, but is ~1/2" smaller. The screen is brighter, better color, and improved contrast over the Yoga. The Dell is an i5 dual core model with a 128GB SATA SSD so it isn't nearly as fast as the Yoga 920 with the 256GB NVMe Samsung PM961 and quad core i7 processor. Battery life is better on the XPS 13 despite the smaller battery. The excessive battery drain the Yoga 920 exhibits when sleeping is a bit of a mystery. I'm hopeful that Lenovo will issue a BIOS fix. The Yoga 920 is quieter than the XPS 13 under full load. While the fans are audible, they have a deeper sound and are not as intrusive as the XPS. The nice thing with the Yoga 920 is that it can quickly switch between performance mode and quiet mode using a FN+Q. The keyboard and trackpad are a draw between the two for me. The Yoga 920 has good firm keys with nice travel and the trackpad is fast and responsive with two finger gestures. Bottom line: If Lenovo can get the sleep battery drain under control then the new 920 will be an exceptional thin & light notebook. Only real improvement I would like to see in the potential 930 is an improved FHD screen. I suspect the 4K screen is much better, but the battery will take a direct and substantial hit. Overall, the Lenovo Yoga 920 offers a lot of performance in a sleek design. Intel's refreshed Kaby Lake i7 is a winner thanks to the additional cores.

Posted .Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga 920-14. The battery life of this model is up to 9 hours at normal settings. Your economy power settings are averaging 10 hours, which is within range and would not indicate any abnormal battery drain in sleep mode. The screen resolution of the Yoga 920-14 is 1920 x 1080 (FHD).

Posted .The Yoga 920-14 has a 4CELL 70WH, Lithium Polymer battery, with a battery life of up to 9 hours. Be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. Here is a link to some tips for finding out what is draining your battery:
https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/battery-saver-windows-10. You can also check the device hardware and update operating system software. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.

A defaulted keyboard
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the keys to my keyboard fell off 3 weeks after I bought the laptop. I took it back to best buy so that they could replace it. However, the did not have the correct color key. I also found out that these types of laptops are known for their keyboard defaults. The aesthetic quality of Lenovo Yoga is poor.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with your Yoga 920-14. The keys on the Yoga 920-14 are permanently fixed to the keyboard. Be sure you received a new model, in a factory-sealed box. Keyboard keys can not "fall off" a new model.
