We used this device a little over a month before reviewing. To be fair the hardware of the Lenovo Yoga 9i is exceptionally good and it's weight/portability is very manageable. The screen is vibrant, the processing speed is also very good for our needs. However, the battery life drags the experience down quite a bit. If I had paid the MSRP, I would have returned within a week. For the price I did pay, I got a very good laptop with a ho-hum battery. I suppose I expected more from Lenovo/Intel/Microsoft regarding battery optimization/utilization. Coming from an older ARM device with literally all day performace, I wouldn't ask for the 9i to match, however, I wanted it to, at the very least, be competitive.

Hi OhMeOhMy, thanks for choosing Lenovo! Regarding your issue with battery life – there are many variables that contribute to shorter battery life. Thankfully, many of those variables can be adjusted. By default, the system will tend to give more speed when needed, especially with the high-powered H series Ultra 7 processor, which can sacrifice battery life. If you want to squeeze out more battery life, we recommend users utilize the Lenovo Vantage application that is preinstalled to adjust settings related to power and battery performance (to access relevant settings, open Vantage > Device Settings > Power). Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both worlds. We're glad to hear that your Yoga 9i performs exceptionally well otherwise, and we appreciate you sharing your experience and feedback with us. Lenovo

How much frustration do you want in your life?

This computer feels solidly built, offers impressive speed, and delivers excellent video quality. However, it seems Lenovo overlooked some key aspects of product testing. Key Issues... Touchpad Sensitivity: The touchpad is overly sensitive. I've lost count of how many times I’ve accidentally opened a window or clicked a link just by moving the cursor. Its large size compounds the problem, making it easy to inadvertently rest a finger or part of your palm on it, which often triggers the four-finger swipe gesture that opens the “view all windows” mode. Unnecessary Buttons: There's a dedicated button for battery performance—why? It's poorly positioned directly below the "delete" key, reducing space for the "backspace" key. As a result, I unintentionally press the battery button about 20 times per hour. Correcting this requires pressing the button twice more to return to standard mode. Bloatware: It's like an all-you-can-eat buffet of bloatware. No, Lenovo, I don’t want to register for updates. No, McAfee, I don’t need your antivirus. And no, I don’t want to sync with countless services. Battery Life: Best Buy claims up to 10.5 hours of battery life, but in real-world use, it barely lasts 5 hours. Despite these frustrations, the computer’s overall build and performance suggest it has great potential. However, these issues highlight areas where Lenovo could significantly improve the user experience.

Hi, JohnH. We're sorry to hear that your Yoga 9i missed the mark for you in some respects. We have noted your feedback, and we would like to share some tips and information for insights in response. First, regarding the touchpad, you can adjust the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom of your Windows 11 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad. Making the touchpad less sensitive may correct the issues you have experienced. Regarding the mapped keys, including toggling system performance modes, this is to help users easily switch their system from its intelligent auto mode, to prioritizing battery life or performance. This could be helpful for you since the battery life you experienced was not sufficient. We hope that what's shared can be useful, and we appreciate you taking the time to detail your feedback and experience with us. Lenovo

Reliable and Fast, with a Few Small Quirks

I’ve been using this Lenovo laptop for a while, and overall it has been a great experience. The setup was quick, the performance is fast, and it handles multitasking smoothly. The screen is bright and sharp, and the keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions. Battery life also lasts me through most of the day, which is a big plus. One small drawback is the mouse/trackpad—it works fine, but the clicking feels a little stiff and not as smooth as I’d like. It’s not a dealbreaker, but something to get used to. Overall, this laptop is reliable, lightweight, and a good value for the price. I’d recommend it for anyone who needs a dependable laptop for work, school, or everyday use.

Decent buy ONLY if you can find it on sale

I've had this laptop going on two months at this point and have been using it as my daily Windows computing device. It's a mixed bag overall. If you can pick it up on sale for $1,149.99, it's a decent buy - but certainly not at full price, look for other options if you're going to spend that much (for this reason alone, I'm choosing "no" in terms of recommending). My assumption is this model will be discontinued soon since the Intel Ultra Series 2 systems are now out. Pros: - The OLED display is fantastic, it's capable of 120Hz which is a big plus (NOTE: the display does not support dynamic refresh rate, it must be changed manually in Windows display settings) - The keyboard has a good amount of travel and good feedback - The chassis is thin and light - weighing just slightly more than a MacBook Air but with a bigger, much higher quality screen - Port selection is good considering the thin chassis - it has USB-C ports on both sides for greater flexibility - Wi-Fi 6E 6Ghz performance is very good - The Lenovo soundbar hinge is above average (though it still doesn't come close my MacBook Pro M3 Pro, but so far, no other laptop I've used does) - Windows Hello facial recognition is spot on - 2 in 1 design is useful should the mood strike Average: - Performance is sometimes noticeably slow when running on battery (launching apps sometimes takes much longer than expected for example - to the point you wonder if you didn't actually launch the app) - The touchpad is large and serviceable, but not the most responsive I've used (again, it can't beat the MacBook Pro) - The laptop doesn't always immediately recognize my Dell Thunderbolt 4 display. It generally works, but I sometimes have to unplug/re-plug a couple times for it to pick it up (I have multiple other systems that have no issue in this regard) - The Lenovo Vantage app has a few useful bits (installing BIOS and software updates for example), but it's largely bloatware. By default, it runs 15 scheduled tasks in the background, which is unnecessary - Presence detection generally works well, but it occasionally fails to wake/detect/login via facial recognition - The included pen works, but it's basic and not comfortable in hand Cons: - The fan kicks on frequently while browsing and performing low demand tasks on battery. When plugged in using the Balanced Power Mode, the fan runs constantly. To me, this indicates the Intel Core Ultra 7 is constrained in the thin and light chassis - To get passable battery life of 8 to 9 hours, Windows power settings must be set to "Best Power Efficiency" - The laptop is a fingerprint magnet - true for both the exterior and the palm rest One glaring issue I ran into: there is no provision in the BIOS to clear fingerprint reader registrations. I initially registered one fingerprint when I first purchased using the factory installed OS. Through my testing, I installed and re-installed several preview versions of Windows 11 24H2. Upon the first clean OS install, I discovered I couldn't register the same fingerprint I initially registered, but could register other fingerprints. I checked the BIOS and there is no specific option to clear fingerprint registrations. Clearing the TPM from within Windows and from within the BIOS didn't work either. I then submitted a ticket with Lenovo Support - their response was to return the laptop and the case was immediately closed. This is not a solution at all and I was one day past the return period at that point. Thankfully Windows Hello facial recognition works well, so it's not the end of the world, but definitely keep this in mind if you plan to test OS pre-release versions. I realize this won't affect all users, but it's something to keep in mind if you ever need to perform a clean OS install in the future. Conclusion: Again, it's a decent buy if you can find it on sale. Beware of the quirks and limitations described above.

The battery drain is very prominent. I had the system ON while I was working on my work laptop. Absolutely nothing playing or running (not on performance mode too) to see how much battery I will get. Trust me, in 3hrs I saw the battery go down 60% while doing nothing. I thought the spec is good enough to see some decent speed while opening and closing apps but my 7 year old hp Spectre x360 performs almost at the same level. The extra set of buttons on the right extreme does get annoying a lot as you will keep hitting the fingerprint button instead of the arrow keys. If you are a slow typer who looks at the keyboard for every stroke, this laptop should be fine. A huge fingerprint magnet! Not just the outer body, but also on the track pad. Check the stylus. It's the new slim pen. There are some drivers and apps that you need to install to make it work. Does not start working out of the box. At least mine did not. Build quality is good compared to Asus. Not flimsy. But with the Intel Ultra 7 processor, I was expecting something better. Total disappointment.

The laptop is pretty but pretty useless for actually doing anything. Lenovo's pen, that comes with the device, is uncomfortable and drivers must be manually installed. Pen input is really bad compared with a Surface pen and lags. Memory is almost completely used by running the lenovo bloatware and Edge. Opening the screen feels like its about to break the screen due to the flex of the screen. Heats up rapidly. Memory not upgradable. The biggest pro is that it looks more like a tablet but sadly probably less functional than one. Screen quality is nice but the battery life is a joke.

Hi, POTATOCAKE. We're sorry to hear that your Yoga has been a complete miss for you. To address your pain points, first, with the pen. Once powered on, your pen should be able to connect automatically with your Yoga. This could be prevented and had to be done manually along with driver installation due to improper pairing. Also, you can adjust what software runs in the background and is installed on your system via the task manager and system settings respectively. Regarding the hinge and overall system integrity, these devices are tested for quality assurance, and this aligns with the consensus of user reviews, so rest assured that your device should be fine in that regard. Also, we recommend ensuring that the air intake and air out vents are not blocked to ensure proper air exchange to keep your Yoga cool. Then in regard to the previous point and battery, by default, the system will tend to give more speed when needed, which can sacrifice battery life. There are several things I really love about this laptop and I have been researching and trying several others before I landed here. I wanted the Zenbook to work for me but no matter what I did it kept crashing during very light gaming like age of empires 3 DE. I wanted something that was fast, Lightweight had decent battery life but also had a brilliant screen and that looked and felt good too. I tried the HP Spectre, but it just seemed so much heavier even though it’s within .3 pounds. I don’t utilize the two in one screen as I have an iPad Pro and an iPad mini six if I need a tablet, but I guess it doesn’t hurt anything having that capability. I’ve had zero issues with gaming and the 16 GB is sufficient enough for me as if I want to do heavy gaming I have an omen desktop with a 4090. I’ve also looked at the Dell XPS series thoroughly, but that doesn’t seem to have near the battery life I would like. I am typically pretty close to a charger anyway throughout the house, but I don’t want to be checking the battery when I am just browsing the web on the couch and see it go down 10 to 15% every 20 minutes. Ultimately this device does exactly what I need and works perfect for me and I love the look feel weight and everything else about it.

I’m beyond impressed with the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1! The Cosmic Blue finish is absolutely stunning—sleek, modern, and premium-feeling right out of the box. The 2.8K OLED touchscreen is vibrant and sharp, making everything from watching movies to editing photos a visually rich experience. Performance-wise, the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H paired with 16GB of RAM handles multitasking effortlessly. Whether I’m running creative software, working remotely, or just browsing, everything is fast and smooth. The 1TB SSD provides plenty of storage and lightning-fast load times. The 2-in-1 flexibility is a huge plus. Tablet mode is great for reading or note-taking (the included pen works flawlessly), and tent mode is perfect for streaming or presentations. Battery life has also been solid, easily getting me through a full day of work. Best Buy’s delivery was spot-on. My laptop arrived on time, well-packaged, and in perfect condition. Setup was a breeze, and I was up and running in no time. Overall, the Yoga 9i is an outstanding premium laptop for professionals, students, or creatives who want power and versatility in a compact, beautiful package. Highly recommended!

This is one of the best looking laptop I’ve seen from Lenovo. I absolutely love the design of the hinge, and the cosmic blue color way. The amazing OLED panel is fantastic for watching movies, plus that buttery smooth 120hz refresh rate makes this a very worthwhile purchase. However, there are some flaws that must be discussed before I can say this is a perfect laptop. 1/ Laggy input: for some odd reason this laptop is quite laggy, even for content consumption. The scrolling lags a lot, which makes the laptop less smooth even with that 120hz refresh rate. This is noticeable even when plugged in, so do expect this when you use the laptop. 2/ Battery life: even with intel telling you you’re getting great battery life, do keep in mind that this is running an Ultra 7 series 1 processor which is not that well-optimized for lower power consumption. This means you should not expect a full day or even half day of battery on this laptop. Brings your charger around with you. 3/ No gpu: this is running an egpu, therefore if you are using a program that needs a dedicated GPU (my case: Solidworks). Do expect it to crash midway, sometimes not even work. This is design for office work, for people who do similar things to that; this is not for gamers, or engineers to use for CADing. Overall, I recommend this laptop to anyone who wants a premium laptop with a beautiful display, great sound quality without caring too much on the GPU. If you do a lot of heavy tasks that require a GPU, the lenovo yoga pro 9i is what you should be looking at.

I love many things about this laptop. My only complaint is the battery life. It will only last me through my 8-hour workday if it is on best power efficiency mode. I love that it is lightweight, that the screen gets as dim as I like it to, that the camera has a slide cover, and that there is a USB-A as well as USB-C ports on both sides. The fingerprint unlock is unreliable and the column of keys on the right side are more of a nuisance than they are useful. Ultimately I liked the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x Copilot+ PC better, but I needed something without generative AI due to my line of work.

Beautiful. Lightweight. Sleek. It’s been just under a month but so far I’m happy with my purchase. I was worried about the battery life and the computer overheating but if you set up power settings accordingly then you can prevent that. Besides a few small things like no hdmi port and some of the keyboard keys are different from my previous laptop, it’s a great buy.
