    The Goldilocks of 2024 Laptops

This is the Goldilocks Laptop! I have been on a quest for a relatively affordable laptop ($1600 or less - which I got this one open box for about $1400) that can handle the few games I play, not necessarily maxed out, but competently compared to the price. I have tried the 2024 Asus G14 and G16 with 4070s, 4080s, and even the 4090 (those latter two were definitely beyond my budget). I most recently had a Razer Blade 16 with the UHD/FHD MiniLED and a 4090 (also beyond my budget, but it was an open box). I also tried an Alienware M16 R2. Each of those machines had their merits, but also had shortcomings that ultimately left me feeling like it wasn't quite right for the money or what I was going for. Then I stumbled upon the Yoga Pro 9i. First off, this screen is absolutely gorgeous and is what I'd consider the perfect resolution for this size screen. Colors pop, contrast is incredible, and I don't have to deal with the minor anxiety that comes with OLED screens. Second, the speakers on this are incredibly good. I would say these are just as good, if not better than the 2024 ASUS G14 or G16 speakers. These speakers also do a fantastic job of drowning out what little fan noise there is while gaming. I haven't tried out the different modes, but whatever the default one is keeps the machine nice and cool and also very quiet. When web browsing it's basically silent! On the gaming front, it holds its own, even with a 4060. Am I going to get max FPS in every AAA title out there? No, but I have been averaging about 80-90fps on Forza Horizon 5. The other game I spend a lot of time on is AoE 4, which obviously isn't super demanding, but it looks and plays fantastically. I also have been pleasantly surprised with the software/user experience of Lenovo. There was a bit of bloatware to start, but all was easily removed. The Lenovo Vantage software is actually useful and doesn't hog too much memory. I haven't run into any driver issues or funky software glitches (I had quite a few gremlins with the Razer Blade 16). Compared to ASUS Armory Crate or Razer Synapse, the Lenovo Vantage software is a dream. This last bit is subjective, but I personally love that I don't have to deal with all the RGB rubbish. The keys on this are well backlit in a pleasant white color and nothing about this laptop says "gamer". It's a thin, fairly light, and powerful enough laptop to completely fit the needs I have. You'll be hard pressed to find a laptop at this price that has this good of a screen, speakers, professional appearance, and overall user experience that is better than this.

As a software engineer and a gamer. I can say that this laptop is by far the best in the market for my needs. It looks professional and still outperforms most gaming laptops with the same graphics card. With a TDP of 100 watts this laptop is basically running a 4060 on full power. The new core ultra 9 chip is an amazingly efficient chip which gives you the power of a traditional i9 chip while giving you a better battery life (although you only get like 2.5 hours of battery life under heavy load it is still very impressive for the insane specs this laptop has). This laptop only weighs 2.05 kg which makes it a beauty to carry around and travel with. At last, in my opinion the best features for this laptop are it’s amazing RAM speed going up to 7467 mhz which is insanely high and you will feel it once you work with multiple tabs open, the speakers are just the best in the industry being able to compete with the macbook pro speakers, it’s ability to stay cool and quiet under heavy load and I can’t stress enough how satisfying this is, it’s beautiful 3.2k 165hz Mini Led display and the amazing affordable price. I’m extremely happy that I managed to get this one for 1650$ before taxes, I swear getting a premium laptop like this for that price is only possible with Best Buy. I don’t understand how other folks are giving bad reviews to this laptop, personally I’ve watched thousands of laptop reviews, I’ve also owned multiple gaming and work laptops before (my best buy purchase history can confirm hehe), I also work on tech and I am an enthusiast to finding the best all around laptop for my needs so I can confidently say that my experience with this laptop has been pretty close to perfection.

I bought this becuase I wanted a laptop that felt good to the touch simular to a macbook pro, I touched every computer in best buy and this was the best feeling laptop of them all. It's by far the fastest machine I have ever owned. I have been using as a music and video production machine with great success so far. I replaced the 1tb ssd with a 4tb ssd and discovered there was another slot, so now I have 2 4tb ssd drives. It's magical. The display is amazing, my photos have night mode on becuase I am trying persevere my eyes, but the color is vivid. There is an hdr mode which is great for video editing. I originally was looking at newegg, but felt unsafe. Then amazon for a while, but there were too many strange varations and sellers, I settled on best buy being the most trustworthy place to buy a laptop in 2024. Going in store and physically touching the laptops was the most helpful thing in my journey. I have taken risks in the past and gotten a super plasticy feeling rog laptop in the past. This is not that. This is superbuly premium. The only criticisms I have are the bottom plate creaks and the headphone jack isn't a dual microphone input. The bottom plate doesn't ruin any functionality, i think it a common thing for Lenovo laptops.

I really love this laptop. The build quality, keyboard, audio quality, and display (my god the display) are amazing. It would be a 5 star review if the battery life was better. but getting 3-3.5 hours of battery life has me considering returning this unfortunately. If you're not worried about the battery life, or don't have issue being plugged in this is the laptop to get.

Hi, JosephM. Thank you for choosing Lenovo! Regarding your issue with battery life – as you may know there are lots of variables that contribute to battery life. Thankfully, many of those variables can be adjusted. With powerful combination of an Intel Core Ultra 9, H series processor and RTX 4060 graphics, by default, the system will tend to give more speed when needed, which can sacrifice battery life. If you want to squeeze out more battery life, we recommend users utilize the Lenovo Vantage application that is preinstalled to adjust settings related to power and battery performance. Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both words. We are glad to hear that you are otherwise loving your Yoga Pro 9i, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and experience with us. Lenovo

As a computer science student who juggles software development, gaming, and digital art, I don't take laptop purchases lightly. My search for the perfect machine is similar to Sheldon Cooper's, if you get the reference. I needed a beast capable of handling all sorts of tasks, and after conducting extensive research, I landed on this one. When my local BestBuy had an open-box model at a discounted price, I had to take the bait and go check it out. It was in pristine condition, so I had to take it home with me. A week later, I'm blown away. Here are my impressions: Aesthetics: 10/10. This laptop is sleek and modern, has a totally premium feel to it. I love the material - it's sturdy but not too heavy either. The display is breathtaking as well, and shows colors beautifully (not to mention the customization options in the Lenovo Vantage app). Performance: 10/10. It has handled everything I've thrown at it. From coding to gaming to graphic design, it's a total powerhouse. It runs both Linux and Windows flawlessly, giving me the flexibility I need. Portability: 10/10. Considering it's robust hardware, the battery life and weight of this thing isn't bad! It's relatively lightweight compared to most laptops it's size, without sacrificing the durability of the chassis. Keyboard: 10/10. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, lights up beautifully, had a numpad, and it's responsive. Perfectly comfortable for coding or typing on-the-go. **BONUS: I completely overlooked the touch screen feature, which is a great addition! All that said, it goes without saying that I highly recommend this machine. Lenovo has really outdone themselves!

My favorite part of this laptop is the screen. The colors look great and I'm able to edit photos in Lightroom with confidence. I was also able to render videos in Davinci Resolve with performance close to my older workstation, while plugged in. Note that this is not a MacBook Pro. It won't run all day on battery and throttles performance a bit when not plugged in. If you have a USB-C Dock, you will still need to use the included power adapter to get the maximum CPU speed. Thus the 4 stars instead of 5.

This computer is everything I could have asked for. I wanted a good computer under $2000 that would compete with the new macbooks. I got it for about $1500 after buying it on sale and registering for a new Best Buy credit card. Easily one of the best purchases I've ever made. The screen is beutiful, the speakers are amazing, everything is soo smooth. About the most premium experience you can get with a windows laptop. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in a laptop for gaming, design, content creation, etc...

The specs on this computer are beautiful but i exchanged this model twoce from it's constant freezing, blue screen errors, lagging, and then the power button just disconnected. I called lenovo prior to purchasing to ask if a pen worked with thebtouch screen and they said yes, after purchase i found that to be incorrect but the computer at first ran beautiful and i mainly used adobe/corel programs for editing. I found the computer to be unreliable and best buy deemed it a lemon to allow me to exchange for a different brand.

I’ve been using the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 16” (Ultra 9, RTX 4060, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) for a little while now, and it’s honestly one of the most impressive laptops I’ve owned. The 3.2K Mini LED touchscreen is absolutely stunning—bright, sharp, and vibrant with deep contrast that makes both creative work and media consumption a pleasure. Performance-wise, this laptop is a beast. The Intel Core Ultra 9 paired with 32GB of RAM and the RTX 4060 handles heavy multitasking, content creation, and even demanding games without breaking a sweat. The large 1TB SSD also ensures lightning-fast boot times and plenty of storage for projects. Build quality is excellent—sleek, sturdy, and premium in the Luna Grey finish. Despite its power, it still manages to stay relatively portable for a 16” machine, and the keyboard and trackpad feel smooth and comfortable for long sessions. Battery life is solid for such a powerful laptop, though heavy tasks like gaming or video rendering will drain it faster (as expected). The fans can get audible under load, but they keep the system running cool. Overall, the Yoga Pro 9i strikes a great balance between professional-grade performance, stunning display quality, and elegant design. Perfect for creatives, professionals, and even casual gamers who want power in a sleek form factor.

This laptop packs a powerful punch for its size

This laptop packs a powerful punch is a smaller form factor. I have owned a lot of laptops. Depending on my work, I use a Surface Pro X, Yoga Pro, and Dell Latitude. I have also a Dell G15 gaming laptop. This Yoga Pro 9i is my favorite of all the laptops. I purchased this laptop because it had a powerful Nvidia RTX4060. This would allow me to do video editing from anywhere, without having to carry a laptop the size of a boat anchor. There are a lot of pros with this laptop, as well as a few cons. Pros The screen display is amazing. Great colors, clear display, and a large screen. This makes it great for editing photos and videos. Except when editing videos, this laptop has very good battery life. I’ve seen a few people complain that it’s so-so, but that depends on what you are doing. My G15’s battery drained very quickly, but the Yoga Pro battery gives me about six hours when using video intensive activities. High end video cards are power hogs, so video editing will drain a battery. The same is true for graphic intensive games. It could have better battery life, but that would add to the weight of the laptop – which I don’t want. I bought this Yoga Pro because I wanted a good balance between power and portability. The large 1TB SDD drive is a big plus. There is also an option to include a second drive, but I haven’t needed to upgrade. 32GB of RAM is another important selling point. The price of the Yoga Pro 9i makes it one of the best values on the market. For what you are paying, there is a lot of bang for the buck. This laptop is one of my favorite purchases to date. But there are a few cons. Cons The RTX4060 video card is a huge power drain when in full use. I use this laptop with a portable docking station and two portable monitors. My dock has a 100 watt output, which is more than enough to charge the laptop while powering it and the monitors. That is until I begin editing videos at 4k. This is where the issue will arise. It sometimes pulls more than the dock can handle, unless I also plug in the laptop’s power adapter. The docking station itself struggles to keep up, and will shut down the monitors. So if I plan to edit videos, I have to run the laptop off the Lenovo power brick. If running off the laptop’s power adapter, during video intensive processes, it will still draw from the battery when the power consumption is too much for the adapter to keep up with. Lenovo should have included a more powerful power adapter. Having said this, it’s important to look at what is being demanded from a smaller laptop. This is a lot of power packed into a reasonably small laptop. My G15 weighs twice as much, which makes it much less portable. The Yoga Pro has a desktop grade video card stuffed into a laptop. When I look at it realistically, this is an amazing laptop with a low price point. For everyday use, this is the perfect laptop. No problems and it is power efficient with the Ultra processor. When I do video editing, I know the power adapter is required. As long as I take this into account, no issue. I am very happy with the performance of this laptop. Everyday use is flawless. When I am ready to video edit, I add the power adapter and editing is flawless. As to editing videos, I am impressed with the Yoga Pro 9i’s performance. I usually edit in 4k, and the playback during editing is smooth. The rendering speed is good. I have a more powerful video setup in my desktop, but I do most of my editing on this laptop for convenience. I highly recommend this laptop. I am rating it a 5 star only because the power adapter limitation isn’t a big deal.

The Yoga Pro 9i has a lot going for it. Amazing screen, top-tier performance, and a solid build. I use it for coding, AI stuff, and some light gaming, and it handles everything really well. The 3.2K Mini-LED display is super bright and sharp, and overall speed is excellent. Now the not-so-great part: battery life is just bad. Even with brightness lowered and battery saver on, it drains fast. Faster than you'd expect from a high-end machine like this. If you're someone who's always on the move, this could be a real issue. Another thing worth mentioning is the charger. The one that comes in the box is fine for the most part, but sometimes the laptop pulls more power than the charger can provide. That leads to the battery draining even while it's plugged in during heavy use. Honestly, they should’ve just included a 200W or higher charger, considering the specs. Also, the charger is pretty bulky. Not fun to carry around. I ended up buying a separate, lighter one just for when I'm outdoors or working away from my desk. ✅ Pros: • Gorgeous display • Excellent performance • Feels premium and well-built ❌ Cons: • Poor battery life • Included charger struggles under load • Charger is heavy and bulky

      Hey Fahim,

Thanks for choosing Lenovo and for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that the battery life of this Yoga Pro 9i has fallen short for you. If it may help, we wish to provide context on why battery may dwindle quickly with this system.

As you may know, there are lots of variables that contribute to battery and in laptops like this Yoga Pro, that can increase even more due to their high-powered processors and graphics cards and high refresh rate displays. Also, we appreciate your comment regarding the power adapter and will consider this for future improvements.
