Very tuneful songs, excellent piano playing.

I liked almost all the songs on the album, particularly St. James Infirmary, After You've Gone (the song made me go out and buy a CD by Dr. John), and Tipitina. It's interesting to see that actors (and musicians too--I'm thinking of Tom Waits in Short Cuts) can perform equally well in a different medium. I think it says a lot about the individual and how they became interested in the performing arts.

I personally have NEVER cared for Blues before Laurie's album. However, I have been a Hugh Laurie fan since Fry & Laurie and of course LOVING House I had to give it a listen. HE IS AMAZING!! I had the opportunity to see him at The Mint and be right up against the stage...even touched the piano LOL. It was the most AWESOME evening. I just hope he doesn't trade on for the other, because I adore both.

This album should be much more expensive, but I'm glad it is not. Hugh Laurie plays the meanest piano and totally has the blues in his blood. Keep on producing, Mr. Laurie. The music sounds better and better every time I play it. I LIKE YOUR KIND!!! Your acting ain't bad either.

Hugh Laurie doesn't just cover the songs. He makes them his own. I find I like them more each time I listen to them.
