Bought the Level Lock+ Aug 9th, 2023 and I've just replaced the battery for the third time. Funny thing is that I checked the app yesterday (Nov 14th, 2023) and it did not indicate low battery life. Now today it shows critical, and my wife texted me to let me know she could not unlock the door. The door does not see that much traffic since it's only the wife and myself most of the time and we leave via the garage. If we check mail the door is on a 3 minute timer which is plenty of time to get our mail and be back in before it auto locks. We normally manually lock it once we're in instead of waiting the 3 minutes. The features are great when the lock is working. I don't normally carry physical keys on me. Just my car Key FOB which means if it dies while away for a walk I would have to enter via the garage since I'm not getting any type of alerts.

This will be the fourth smart lock that I've installed in my house, and I have to say that they get better and better. Whether you're installing it on a new door, or onto an existing door, you'll have everything you need to start and complete the installation. (Granted you have a bolt hole already. If not, time to make one before trying this) If you're installed a bolt lock before, you'll be familiar with how to lengthen the bolt itself in the event that the bolt isn't long enough to create a good anchor. The only challenge that I faced was connecting the internal motor with the bolt attachment, so it took about 10 minutes of drilling and chiseling out enough space for the motor to mate with the motor. Then you tighten a small screw that secures to two separate parts together. Once all of the hardware is installed, you download the level lock app and it walks you through the process. If you have an iPhone, you can also use the Homekit as your means of operating the lock. I like smart locks that look like regular deadbolt locks. The whole incognito design fits better than anything gaudy that stands out. The lock is powered by a CR2 battery, which is tiny and uncommon in most households. I don't know what the lifespan of one is, but it will probably last long seeing as how the lock itself isn't wi-fi enabled, and only works when activated. However, since it still uses Homekit, I think the battery life is still affected one way or the other. You can use your iPhone and Apple watch to lock and unlock simply by touching the lock. I find this extremely convenient. All in all, this is a great lock, so many options on the app, and through Homekit. I highly recommend this lock!

Easy Enough Install. Thrilled With Result

As an Apple guy I’ve been dying to try out the new HomeKey feature. The Level Lock+ is exactly what I was looking for. While the installation process was relatively straightforward, a more comprehensive video guide and a couple of quick tips could have made it even smoother. Installation itself was a breeze for the most part. The Level Lock+ arrived with clear instructions and all the necessary components. However, the installation video provided through the QR code was actually more helpful than the foldout instructions. The video could benefit from a bit more detail, particularly when it comes to some crucial steps. For example, during the motor insertion, it would be helpful to emphasize ensuring the bolt is fully pushed back before proceeding. This simple tip would prevented me from having to take the assembly apart redundantly. Another tip that would have been great in the video is to test the lock's engagement and disengagement using the paddle before fully shutting and locking the door. This would avoided a situation where the bolt was locked in my door without a way to unlock it. I ended up having to slide a credit card and wiggle the bolt back to open the door again. One of the standout features of the Level Lock+ is its flawless integration with Apple's HomeKit ecosystem. Setting it up to work with our existing smart home devices was a breeze. The ability to control the lock remotely through the Home app or Siri commands is incredibly convenient. The new homekeys feature takes this convenience to another level. It's a real game-changer for scenarios like when my dog is in the backyard and wants to come in through the basement door…but I let him out upstairs. Now I can go down the outside stairs, then with just a flick of my wrist on my Apple Watch, the door is unlocked and my furry friend can come inside. The Level Lock+ design seamlessly blends into the door, maintaining the aesthetic appeal of our home's entry points (though I do need to replace my door knob now so that it matches). In conclusion, the Level Lock+ is a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. While the installation process was relatively straightforward, the experience could be further enhanced with a more comprehensive video guide and a couple of extra installation tips. The HomeKit integration and the innovative home keys feature are where the Level Lock+ truly shines, providing unparalleled convenience and security. Being able to unlock our door with just a tap on our watch has proven to be a game-changer, especially when our four-legged family members are eager to come inside.

I have had the pleasure to use a few other smart locks in the past and I can say that Level Lock has though through all prior hiccups. The hiccups that this design has addressed in my opinion is the exterior design and the way the lock functions from a "smart" standpoint. First of all, the design is very sharp looking with its satin nickel finish and its standard deadbolt look and feel. Other smart locks have large bulky touch pads associated to them, but this model does not. Your phone is the key, but it also come with a physical key and fob if needed which is a nice touch. Similar to how the smart wallets work is how the key works with the lock. Another area which has greatly been improved by this model is the install. The instructions are clean and simple to understand. The hardware is solid too, not cheap or flimsy. This has clearly been thought out from the design team too. Lastly, unboxing this was a pleasure! I knew exactly which steps needed to take place before I could use the lock to its fullest extent. There were not questions from the user standpoint. All in all, this lock has been very easy to use and operate. Also, if you are looking to DIY in terms of installation then I would approve this lock for you too. The discrete nature and minimalistic feel is sure to please the eyes!

Level - Lock+ Simple Yet Smart Bluetooth Deadbolt

We have a couple of smart locks with WiFi already installed in our home, but as an iPhone and Apple Watch user I was excited to try out the Level - Lock+ Smart Replacement Deadbolt. The ability to use Apple Smart Key for easy entry was my main interest, and I wasn't let down. Unboxing: The Level Lock+ Smart Deadbolt was well packaged and everything needed to install is in the box. You will need a philips head screwdriver. The parts list and instructions are well thought out and it couldn't have been any more straight forward. What's In The Box: As mentioned previously, the lock includes everything needed to install on a standard or deep depth deadbolt. The kit includes the interior housing and paddle, motor/smart unit, exterior housing, bolt, tall/short strike plates 6 mounting bolts, 2 x keys, 2 x key fobs, long cap cover and a battery. Installation & Setup: Installation took less than 30 minutes from start to finish, and that includes removing the old deadbolt. Timing would have been closer to 20 minutes but I had to mess around with the strike plate on the door jam to get it to fit...this was a construction issue and nothing to do with the Level Lock+.The instruction are easy to follow and well illustrated. Level Lock does recommend not using power tools, but I did cheat and used a driver to install the longer screws and hand tightened. There's a cool feature which makes for any easy install as the paddle on the interior mechanism is magnetic. I didn't realize this initially (as I'm terrible at reading the fine print) and locked the paddle on the mechanism before it was properly installed. No worries though as it is easily removed with a paperclip. Once the deadbolt is fully installed, the battery can be installed into the bolt body. At this point the unit is powered up and ready to connect. At this point, the Level Home app needs to be downloaded and used to connect to the Level Lock+. Once setup is complete, you can then add the lock to the Home Kit app. However in my initial setup, I skipped this step which turned out to be another mistake. After trying unsuccessfully to add the lock to Home Kit several times, it had to be removed from the Level Home app and reconnected from the beginning. Not a big deal, but definitely added time to the setup. Once fully installed and set up, the lock is super easy to use with the Level Home app or the Home Kit app. I used the Level Home app first and all you need to do is have the app open and get the phone close to the lock and hold the button on the phone to lock or unlock. No issues with connecting and no lag in operation of the deadbolt. With the Home App the lock can be operated with an iPhone or Apple Watch. Just need to get the Apple product close to the lock or it to operate. Level Home App: There are a number of features on the app that allow for auto lock/unlock, touch to lock/unlock, boost the the BT range, add users and set up the key fobs. The app is easy to navigate and allows for personalization if desired. Pros: - The quality and aesthetics of this lock are top-notch - Due to no WiFi hardware the lock is exactly the same size as the deadbolt it replaced - Ease of installation and operation - Support for Home Kit - Keys provided for backup entry if needed Cons: - Home Kit needs to be added at setup or otherwise installation needs to be redone After using for over a week now, I would definitely recommend this Level Lock+ Smart Bluetooth Deadbolt for anyone looking for a well built and easy to use smart deadbolt.

    ## Design Most smart locks put a large, ugly block on the inside of your door where the batteries go, but Level created a discreet dead bolt lock where the battery is actually hidden away in the bolt itself. Brilliant! No huge ugly box on the back of the door, although instead of using 4 AA batteries like many smart locks, it uses a less common CR2 battery. ## Set up If you've ever changed out a deadbolt lock before, installing the lock shouldn't really be any more difficult than other locks. Although, I have yet to replace a lock (smart or otherwise) where it immediately fit and lined up with the pre-existing cutouts, so you may want to have a rotary power tool handy in case you need to widen any of the existing cutouts in your door. Level's website has a helpful video and checklist you can complete ahead of time to verify that the lock will work with your door. Once installed, you simply install the battery into the bolt, listen for the greeting chime, then continue setup through the Level app. This does require creating an account with Level (ugh) in order to use the app. The lock pairs easily to the app via Bluetooth, then the app handles adding the lock to Apple HomeKit. If you already have another lock in your home that uses Apple Home Keys like I did, you will use that same virtual Home Key card in your Apple Wallet for the Level Lock+. Otherwise, a Home Key card will be added automatically to your Apple Wallet, as well as any other members of your Apple family. ## Performance If you're in the Apple ecosystem, the convenience of Apple Home Keys can't be beat. I couldn't wait to put a Schlage Encode+ lock on my door so I could go out for a run without carrying a house key with me. I simply hold my Apple Watch up to the lock when I get back from my run, and the door conveniently unlocks. A notification with the name of the person who unlocked the door is also sent to all the family members, and this notification even appears on the Apple TVs in the house. Door unlocking works even if your Apple Watch or iPhone doesn't have a data connection through Wi-Fi or cellular, and even works if the battery dies on your iPhone, as it can still energize the NFC chip. Side note: if you have an iPhone 14 Pro with the Dynamic Island, the Apple Home Key animation is very cool (screenshot attached). While I wish the Level Lock+ included a keypad like the Schlage Encode Plus, it is available separately (for an added cost) if you need it. With Apple Home Keys, I rarely use the keypad on the Schlage Encode, but it's nice to have "just in case." But in most cases, especially when walking the dog, it's just easier to hold my Apple Watch up to the lock than to struggle entering a code (especially with an anxious dog that really wants to go inside). Aside from Apple Home Key, the Level Lock+ includes 2 NFC tags and 2 physical, regular keys for opening the lock without a phone, as well as the ability to unlock via touch as long as you have an authorized phone in your pocket with Bluetooth enabled. It's important to note that the NFC tags don't appear to be paired with the lock out of the box, so don't immediately distribute them to family members until you set up the tags through the app. ## Summary Overall, the Level Lock+ adds the ultimate in convenience by allowing you to unlock your door with just your Apple Watch or iPhone, while still remaining very secure. And if you're worried about relying too heavily on your phone, you can still unlock the lock with other methods, such as the included NFC tags or with a physical "regular" key.

Next Level Smart Home Lock for Apple Users!

Smart Locks for your home have been a nice way for people to leave your keys behind and provide access to your home to your friends and family while you are away. But one of the key downsides is that the smart lock pretty much always looks like a smart look where they are big, very techy with a keypad, and not subtle. The Level Lock+ has really stepped up this game by bringing you a Smart lock that is unrecognizable from a regular lock, while adding a ton of tech still. PROS: - As I said in the intro, the look of this lock is truly incredible. The way that they fit all this tech into a small bolt package really makes everything look great. And on top of that, there is not even any branding on the lock so its an added layer of security that no one even know what brand the lock could be. - Installation was a breeze for me! Yes you need to be handy with a screwdriver, but other than that you use the Level app and it was smooth install! - One of the main selling point of this lock would be its use of "Apple Home Key" and its integration into Apple HomeKit. So essentially, like adding a credit card to your Apple Pay, you can add a key to your iPhone's wallet that will let you open the deadbolt with just a touch of your iPhone. Or, you can simply tell Siri to open or lock your door. It really is an intuitive way of doing things, especially since so many of us carry our phones around more so than our keys or wallets. - The app can also track who is unlocking the door from their phone, so this is a great way to see when each member of your family or friends is accessing your smart lock! - Adding to that, just the ease of use of this smart lock is really simple! It makes my coming and going from my front door much more simple and adds some piece of mind that I can control the lock when I am away as well. - I have not owned this lock for a year, but it is supposed to have a batter life of 1 year which is great! That makes sense to me given it does not have a keypad it needs to power. - Also, as pictured, it does come with a physical key that you can use to lock and unlock it! CONS: - The hardware for this lock is fantastic, but the Level app needs a bit of work. It can be a bit touchy at times, and I find myself just using the HomeKit app and Siri much more. But this is an easy software base fix I think they can solve. - I do with Level sold a matching door handle with a matching key for this. Would make installation a bit easier to have a matching deadbolt and handle combo. BOTTOM LINE: - In a world where iPhone's are heavily used and smart homes are becoming more common, the Level Lock+ really stands out! It is such an elegant design with its minimalist style, but yet it packs so much tech with its support for Apple Key, HomeKit, Siri, and the Level app itself. It has made things much easier for me and I think will be a great addition to your home!

Quality, Secure Smart Dead Bolt Lock

Level Lock + is extremely easy to install. I already had a deadbolt that I replaced with this product so that I could access this entry door to my house with my iPhone and iWatch. The Level Lock + has a few options for which to operate it as it can also be unlocked with the Level app or included key fob or key. During setup, there are a few options that can be set. There are several features which I have chosen not to implement at this time, but probably will as time goes by. These include ‘autolock’ and ‘unlock’. For the present, I would rather lock and unlock the Level Lock myself even though I can check in the app if it is locked or unlocked. The lock itself is built very well and made of excellent materials. It basically consists of four main parts and different sizes of strike plates. The installation kit is neatly packaged to include all the screws (even though I have misplaced one screw and still looking for it), parts, and a couple of options for the length of the bolt and strike plate. It connects via Bluetooth and the setup with the app was smooth and quick. The lock set includes two (2) key fobs and two (2) actual keys. The key fobs also work great, were very easy to set up, and can be assigned. The individual key fobs can be turned on and off in the app. The lock can also be set up to be part of ‘Apple Home’ which allows for directing your iPhone to the lock toward the lock for it to open. This is also true for iWatch; however, both devices need to be compatible, newer models. In addition to Apple Home, the lock also works with Siri commands, Google Home, Ring, and Alexa. It can be set up to work with either Apple or Android phone devices. There are a few versions of Level Lock. The Level Lock + is the lock that I installed because it works with iPhone and iWatch. It is available in four (4) different color waves – Matte Black, Satin Nickel, Chrome, and Polished Brass. There is also a version of Level Lock that is the Touch Edition. It comes in the same four (4) color waves. With the basic Level Lock, the app, your voice, or auto-lock/unlock can be used to operate it. I am getting ready to also purchase the Level Bolt. This will allow me to keep an existing deadbolt that I have on another door, but experience all the features that I am already enjoying with Level Lock +. The Level Bolt is the internal mechanism that has been designed to work with most American Standard deadbolts. Additional Key Fob Minis are sold separately along with Level Key Cards. A Level Keypad can additionally be purchased and installed where the lock works with a numeric code and no key, level card or fob, or phone is needed. This is a top quality designed and manufactured product. I am very pleased with it and highly recommend it. It is great to just use my watch or phone

I’ve got plenty of smart devices but a lock is the one I wanted to wait awhile before trying, and with the Level lock+ I should have waited a little longer. Starting off with the good, the lock looks nice and easily matched the hardware I already had nicely. If you’ve installed one deadbolt, you’ve installed a hundred and this one is no different even though it’s a smart lock. Once you’ve installed the deadbolt pairing it with the app is quick and easy. The app itself is good and connects with the lock quickly 99% of the time, turning on the boost feature gives you extended range. This allowed me to operate the lock on the third floor of my house sometimes depending on where I am on the third floor. The problem I have and the big selling point of this device is HomeKit integration. I tried numerous times and multiple devices and could not get the lock setup on HomeKit, I’m running iOS 16.5.1(c) on a 14 Pro Max. I don’t completely blame Level for this as I’ve not been the biggest fan of HomeKit, even though I have all Apple products and thought it would be great when they first announced it. Every product I’ve tried with HomeKit I’ve removed as I preferred the functionality better without it. I couldn’t find the Bluetooth version Level actually uses with this but it can’t be the latest, because if it was it would have much better range without needing to use the boost function. Without having WiFi this is not a device that can be locked or unlocked away from home. Apple says that functionality can be used in HomeKit but you have to have an Apple TV or HomePod. The nfc tags are nice to have and can be deactivated easily if lost. Smart devices are great when they function like advertised and and an absolute headache when they don’t. The Level lock+ doesn’t fall into the complete headache category but its smart functionality with HomeKit could be better.

Review after a few month of usage. Setup was easy and works well with Bluetooth when in range. The issues were the following: 1) Battery died within a few months 2) When the door is slightly pushed the lock jams 3) Needed to buy Apple Home Pod for operating it via Apple home. 4) Many a times the status of the lock in Apple home is "No Response" so defeating the whole purpose. I will not recommend use of this product

I love the ease of this lock! The ability to give those you need to grant access to your home or office via a pass on their phone, a physical key, or a key fob is phenomenal. You can even set the increment of time for which their pass or fob is active. My favorite feature is that I can set the lock to latch itself after a specific time, alleviating my anxiety about whether or not I locked the door. I also love getting notified that the door has been unlocked or locked and by whom. Oh! The device is iOS and Android friendly; that goes for giving people passes as well. My only negative remark is that it can take up to 42 hours to get a response from customer service, but other than that, this purchase was a no-brainer.

    Level Lock + meh

I bought this Level Lock + to replace a one piece deadbolt and door handle/lock that I couldn't replace with the same thing. There are Pro's and Con's. First, I didn't know I had to buy the extra "Connect" hub in order for it to work with my internet and Google Assistant. So, not only was the lock expensive, but then I had to buy an extra hub on top of that. Perhaps I should have done better research before buying it. I did look at everything on their website, but didn't see the "extra" clarified. I have a smart home and was looking for something with a keypad entry, but nothing fit the existing holes in my door and I wasn't going to make new holes, so I opted for this. Fortunately, I have a keypad on my garage door, but if the electricity goes out, that won't open the garage door so I thought a smart front door lock would be helpful. The install instructions are pretty straight forward, but there are NO other instructions. AT ALL. I had no idea how to make it work once I installed it. Once I got the extra connect hub, I had a really tough time connecting it to the internet. My router is a 2.4 and 5G combo router so I can't tell which one my phone is on when trying to connect it. After troubleshooting everything I could, I called Level Lock tech support. I had loads of questions. First of all, how do I lock and unlock the door with the app? How do I set up the key FOB's? How do I get the key FOB's to work on the door? How do I get it to work with my internet. Fortunately, he was able to get all my questions answered and after a few factory resets on the connect hub and restarting my phone a couple of times, we were able to get the hub to find the internet. Overall, it is expensive and had I not had Best Buy points to cover it, I might have returned it. I'm still not convinced it is worth the money. Time will tell. They really do need to include instructions on how to use it. The support tech emailed me some links after our call to help, but in my mind, they should have included that in the packaging. I'm a bit disappointed overall. And I can't re-key it to match any of my other door locks. The point being, you shouldn't need a key, but it is a good safeguard in case the battery dies.

I’ve had this lock for about 2 months and it’s made life so much easier whether I’m letting myself in with the Apple wallet or letting guests in. It also works even if your iphone is dead as long as it’s an express card which I highly recommend

I'm thrilled with this smart lock for my Airbnb. From the outside, it appears to be a normal deadbolt. Hold the iPhone or the Apple Watch (with the revokable digital key in the wallet) just above the keyhole, and the smart lock activates to lock or unlock the door, and it plays a chime. I added the keypad accessory for visitors without access to digital keys. Digital keys and keypad codes can be easily created and assigned to a name from the app, for permanent or temporary access with an activation date and time and a deactivation date and time. The installation and setup were simple with the instructions provided. It came with 2 metal keys and 2 keychain RF cards that were simple to program from the app. The battery is in the deadbolt itself, requiring no tools to change it. Downside with the keypad: Although you can assign codes in the app, you must be within Bluetooth range of the lock for the code programming to transfer to the lock. This means I cannot create numeric codes while away from the property - or I just haven't figured out how to do that yet. I can, however, create digital keys from anywhere that can be sent by text to the guest for immediate use, so this Level Lock is my solution. Love it.

Needs new battery every 10 days Posted 56 seconds ago My review of all parties involved is following. Product review: Poor engineering is the key problem for this device. The main concern is the battery life in 20 days it drained 2 batteries ($14 value) and stopped working without any notification that the battery needs to be replaced soon. It's not worth the price for sure, too expensive to maintain and keep it functional. It is also glitchy around 20% of the time trying to open it with Apple watch and iPhone Store review: Best Buy didn't want to accept a return as I kept it for 20 days (policy allows 15 days), but I tried to see if the original battery was discharged and gave it a second one, so I ended up going to Best Buy plus membership for $ 50 to be able to return this lock. You guys should be happy that your customers are trying to keep the items you sell to make them work and not return to you. But I got $50 subscription and no mercy from Best Buy, so you have to review your policies guys. Level review: I was advised by Best Buy to call Level support - a useless thing to do. They just collected info and refused to accept a return (their original return policy allows 30 days, but it is not a path through, so Best Buy gives you half a period the manufacturer provides?? questionable) Level support asked to take photos of the lock installed on the door to get help, I had it taken off to return, reinstalling it to the door to get support is a time-wasting joke... It's your product, no matter if it is installed or not you guys have to support your customers and maintain your warranty.

This lock is easy to set up and it integrates flawlessly with Apple’s HomeKit. This lock is one of the few that gives you Apple’s Home Key which enables you to unlock your door with your iPhone or Apple Watch via NFC. The lock was really easy to install. It’s a definitely a bit pricey but worth the money.

Great and discreet lock! Easy enough setup as well. The only issue I personally had with it is that within a couple of days the battery gave out on me. Good thing I thought to keep a key in my purse or else I wouldn’t be so sure how to get in. I couldn’t figure out how to unlock it remotely using the Apple Home app. And sometimes the door would lock on its own right after I unlocked it, so I had to re-unlock it. A lot could have been user error (though customer service did confirm some of these issues are currently being worked on). Otherwise, I love the Apple Watch compatibility, that worked seamlessly.

I’ve had many different lock systems. (Yale x2, Kwikset) both were time consuming to install. Level was up and running in 10 minutes. Works with all my Apple products. You do need a home hub close to use Siri. I always have my watch or phone.

Excellent smart lock that looks like a normal deadbolt. Great features, Apple Home Key is very nice to have.
