Motherboard problem

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have owned the dishwasher model LDFN4542S for less than 2 years, and had to pay LG $343.85 just to come out and look at it. The motherboard malfunctions on many models. LG has been aware of the problem for years, see “Wheeler vs. LG”. Unacceptable. Will not buy this brand again.

I would NOT recommend this dishwasher to anyone. Who manufactures a dishwasher with out a heating element. . . It does a nice cleaning job but you have to run your hot water to scalding before starting the wash cycle. Another issue is the bottom rack does not have enough tines.

Always struggled with getting the the dinnerware plates to stand up and the drying power was not that great too. Always ends up with water after an over night drying setting. I would not recommend this product. This was probably the reason why it was on sale in the first place.

We understand your inquiry regarding the power status after a washing cycle is complete. We understand that on many of our models, the display or power light may remain illuminated to indicate the cycle has finished or to maintain the "Night Dry" function if selected. To ensure the unit functions as you prefer, we recommend checking if the "Auto Power Off" feature is enabled in the settings menu of your dishwasher.

I've never had a dishwasher with a 3rd rack, so I must say, it's pretty handy. Also, the regular top rack is adjustable in height (a few inches). The fingerprint-resistant stainless steel is also nice. So far, no problems!

The dishwasher is great. Best Buy hired a contractor who damaged my home in 2 places during installation. Not only that but they installed it so poorly that when Geek Squad came out and looked at it, they told me "do not use this dishwasher as installed". They scheduled removal of the original and installation of a new dishwasher because somehow that would be quicker than sending someone to correct what had been done wrong. The dishwasher sat in my house unusable for about 3 weeks through the holidays when I needed it the most, before the new one was delivered and installed...correctly this time. I asked them not to send the same contractors that botched it the first time, but they did. Once it was all set, I contacted Best Buy about a "make good" for my inconvenience of not having a dishwasher for 3 weeks and having to take a second day off work for installation. A $65 gift card is what they offered. I told them I should at least get credit for the $250 price of the installation. I spoke with multiple people, all of who claimed it's out of their hands. There's a calculator that they use to determine the make good and it is what it is. That's how Best Buy treats their customers. Send contractors who do a terrible job, leave you with an appliance you can't use for 3 weeks, send the same contractors back to your house, require you to take another day off work, and tell you $65 is all your convenience is worth. Maybe that's why the store is always empty.

Several dishes and knives are often left unwashed after each use. Tines are spaced too close together, leaving bowls stacked haphazardly. The black cover plate on the bottom front looks like an an afterthought, leaving a sloppy finish (why not white to match the rest of the d/w?) Also doubtful the touchscreen-like buttons will hold up over time - should have exchanged it when we had the chance

They were able to address plumbing and electric and got the dishwasher installed and functional.

I have run the dishwasher on normal and auto and it does not clean. It does not matter if the dishes have been rinsed first or not, and it still does not clean. If I had not had to pay so much for a plumber to install it, I would return it. I am not really sure how I will live with this thing for the next few years.
