Not satisfied with the dishwasher quality in cleaning dishes. Whenever it’s done some dishes are still dirty and just super wet. I’ve looked into different settings to help with the dishes to dry better, but no luck. I wouldn’t recommend especially for the price.

I bought this just over a year ago to replace a 20+ year old Frigidaire model. It looks great, is much quieter than the old unit, but doesn't clean dishes nearly as well. I've tried all the settings and use the best rated detergent pods, but still am left with spotty or dirty looking dishes.

Very disappointed. My dishwasher and dishes don't get dry with heated dry and extra dry. After going through all the support topics and calling LG, I found out the dishwasher doesn't have a heating element (to make it use less electricity) so why would they get dry? I have to leave door open til they air dry. I can buy a special chemical to help the problem but, why would I want more chemicals on my dishes? Going to return it.

Hi, David. Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with the LG Dishwasher (LDFN4542S) model. We appreciate you letting us know about the water leakage and electrical issues.

For this model, one helpful step is to check that the inlet hose and drain hose connections are fully tightened and sealed, as loose fittings can cause leaks that may appear to be internal. Running the unit on the Rinse cycle with no dishes inside can help identify if the leak is coming from the hose connections or inside the tub. You can review more details about installation and troubleshooting here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dishwasher-troubleshooting-leaking-issues--1390840766052. Have owned the dishwasher model LDFN4542S for less than 2 years, and had to pay LG $343.85 just to come out and look at it. The motherboard malfunctions on many models. LG has been aware of the problem for years, see “Wheeler vs. LG”. Unacceptable. Will not buy this brand again.

Hi, Lucio. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG Dishwasher (LDFN4542S) model. We’re glad to hear the wash performance meets your expectations, though we understand your concern about the drying doesn’t deliver the same results—especially with lingering moisture and water spots. We strive to provide high-quality products that exceed our customer's needs and expectations.

This model uses LG’s Hybrid Drying system, which relies on the final rinse temperature and a fan-assisted process rather than a heated drying element. To improve drying results, we recommend: Using a rinse aid consistently (this makes a big difference). Selecting the “Extra Dry” or “High Temp” options, and opening the door slightly after the cycle to allow steam to escape. Hate the top and bottom baskets. There are not enough prongs to hold up my glass such as wine glasses, and I have to lower the top baskets in order to wash glasses. IF I have lowered the top basket, the I can't wash my plates ... not enough room and the water spinner hits the plates.

Hi, Sanna. Thank you for sharing your feedback about the LG Dishwasher (LDFN4542S) model. We understand your concern about the basket design and the difficulty it’s causing in accommodating both your wine glasses and plates. We strive to provide reliable, high-quality products that exceed our customer's needs and expectations.

Regarding the top and bottom baskets, we’d recommend checking if they are properly adjusted to ensure optimal space for different items. Additionally, LG dishwashers often come with adjustable racks that allow for more flexibility in loading, so if you haven’t yet, it might be worth exploring those settings to improve the fit for your glasses and plates. Extremely disappointed in this dishwasher, it does not have a heating element to heat the wash and rinse water and more importantly to dry the dishes. I would NOT recommend this dishwasher to anyone. Who manufactures a dishwasher with out a heating element. . . It does a nice cleaning job but you have to run your hot water to scalding before starting the wash cycle. Another issue is the bottom rack does not have enough tines.

Since getting this dishwasher, I have had issues with extreme noise. I reported it to Best Buy, who did nothing other than tell me to contact LG. I contacted LG, and they have had a service tech come out two times with no resolution. On the last visit, the service tech dented my front panel. I chose this brand and model based on the positive reviews, and I have never owned a dishwasher this noisy. I'm not sure what to do next.

All my kitchen appliances are LG. But the dishwasher I would not recommend. After two years I started getting an A3 error, which means there’s a leak somewhere. I tried to turn the dishwasher off, but it automatically turned on by itself spraying water. LG wants to charge me $300 for service. I was not aware that the life of a LG washer is two years.

Drying performance is directly affected by the amount of heat that remains in the tub after the heated rinse is performed. If your dishwasher is far away from your home’s hot water heater, it may be necessary to run the hot water tap in the sink before starting a wash cycle, to ensure that cool water is purged from the hot water lines. This will ensure your dishwasher has a consistent supply of hot water from start to finish.

Using the High Temp setting also aids in keeping the inner drum temperature and dishes hotter before drying begins. LG dishwashers are designed to be used in conjunction with a rinse aid. Using a rinse aid will maximize the amount of water that has already been sheeted away from the dishes before the dry cycle begins. If a rinse aid is used and the performance still needs a boost, adjust the amount of rinse aid used. 2 is the default setting, but if necessary set the level to 3 so more rinse aid is used.

Water tends to bead rather than sheet of plastic and nonstick surfaces, making them more difficult to dry. If washing plastic items in a Normal cycle, select the Extra Dry or Night Dry option or both for better drying results. When the rinse aid is empty, the Extra Dry option is selected automatically.

Allow the dishwasher to completely finish the dry cycle before opening the door. If the door is opened in the middle of the dry cycle, the heat that is necessary for the hybrid dry system to work will escape. This will cause all of the dishes inside to remain wet once the cycle finishes. ^Jennifer LG

Hello there, JennyM. We understand your inquiry about the LG 24″ Front-Control Built-In Dishwasher with QuadWash and 3rd Rack (model LDFN4542S) and appreciate you sharing your experience. It sounds like the noise level and plate stability in the rack are keeping your dishwasher from doing its best, and we’re here to help.

One helpful troubleshooting step is to first ensure that dishes and silverware are properly secured in the racks. Pause a cycle and check that no plates or utensils are protruding past the tines, as this can allow items to shift and rattle against the spray arms. You may also gently remove the bottom filter assembly—located at the base of the tub—rinse it under warm water to clear any debris, and reinsert it firmly; a clogged or loose filter can amplify rattling noises during operation.

If you’re still hearing excessive noise, try adjusting the water inlet valve to reduce water pressure slightly; sometimes high water flow can create a whistling or rattling sound as it enters the wash chamber. Finally, inspect the 3rd-rack rollers to ensure they’re aligned on the tracks—if any wheel appears misaligned, lift the rack off and realign the rollers before reinserting.
