After only three weeks it started making a ticking noise that it should not be making as it spins. It's like there is something hanging off the drum and hitting an other stationary part. It seems like there could be a simple fix but we'll see!

    Awesome Washer

We bought this LG washer and the matching dryer when we moved into our new house. We considered a few other brands, but were sold on LG reliability and the awesome 10 year warranty on the motor. After about a month of ownership, we don't regret our decision at all. The machine cleans clothes better than anything else I've ever seen (the whites come out almost blindingly bright, as do the colors), and uses very little water in the process. The tub is actually pretty big, and easily fits a relatively fluffy queen size comforter. It does take a little more time than traditional top-loaders, however, the clothes come out drier (it spins at 1,200rpm), and the dryer takes less time as a result...so your laundry is pretty synced up - no waiting for one machine to finish. I love the cool blue and amber lighting on the buttons, and the machine itself looks clean and modern. Overall, this is the best purchase we've made in awhile, and look forward to owning this awesome machine for years to come. Highly recommended.

    Great Washer!

This is definitely not your mother's washing machine! If you're used to the top loading machine with an agitator, u'll be shocked by the little bit of water this machine uses! I was a little concerned about my clothes coming clean, but when it was all said and done, the colors were brighter and the whites were whiter. You read a lot about front loaders having mildew around the seal, but I'm convinced that if u do as u're suppose to do and wipe the seal dry and then leave the door open, u won't have those problems. I have allergies, so being able to put my king size bedding in the wash has been very beneficial. It's easy to operate and tells you how many minutes are left till it's finished. That's been handy, too. Overall, I'm very pleased with it!! It will be interesting to see if my water bill decreases. I also bought the matching dryer.

Ok. Needed new washer and dryer and had NO experience with the HE machines. So I go through tons of reviews and the same negatives keep popping up here and there. "HE machines don't clean thoroughly!" "they don't use enough water to clean!" "they leak!". I honestly went back and forth between the old agitator style and these new style machines. After reading hundreds of reviews I could see that even the old style machines had their share of negative reviews. Basically, with any appliance or machine with moving parts, you're going to get a lemon here and there. That's just life so I decided to order and hoped I got one of the good ones. So they get delivered and installed, look great, but need to be tested. I want to know right away if these machines do indeed clean well enough without the agitator. Turns out that by chance I have some real tests available right off the bat for my 1st load. A wash rag used to wipe down a stove top that resulted in a rag with caked in and dried egg yolk on it. Also, I had just used cloth wash pads to clean my tile kitchen floor. The wash pads had ground in dirt and loose hair, fuzz, you get the picture. Added to that was the strong smell from the cleaning fluid I used on the floors. So I push my wife aside as she foolishly thinks she will do the 1st load. Yeah right ,sister. Go watch one of your hunky vampire shows! This is all me. Started the washer up for my 1st ever load. My only fear of all the negatives I kept seeing in the reviews was the one about HE washers failing to do a thorough cleaning job. So it's washing and I'm pacing back and forth like a father waiting for his 1st child to be born. Did I really give this washer a fair test? Am I expecting too much from a supposedly wimpy HE washer with no agitator? Scary questions indeed! The washer finishes, cute jingle plays, 2 year old son gasps in amazement that "the monster" has finished vibrating. I immediately start throwing the stuff into my new dryer, desperately searching for the egg yolk-caked wash rag. Result? Clean as a whistle without a trace of the caked in yolk (and believe me it was alot). Next comes the floor cleaning cloths. Perfect! No dirt and incredibly, not a trace of smell of the harsh cleaning fluid! This never happened with my old washer. Wow. Trust me, thats big time. That smell beats any nasty sweat or body odor smell and this washer eliminated it completely. Incredible. It's only been one wash but my fears have vanished and I'm confident I didn't get one of the inevitable lemons that some have received over the years. By the way, know what you are getting into and don't harshly judge a machine when you know going in what the drawbacks are. Yes, you need to leave the door open afterwards to let the wetness dry from inside the machine. Yes, without the pedestals you will need to go down to a knee to empty the machine. Will the computer die on me next month? Who knows , but so far I am thrilled. It's not a perfectly quiet machine, but certainly not too loud. The machine rocks to and fro as it spins, but again, not too bad. I haven't even checked out the owners manual yet, it's that easy to use right off the bat. One thing I think solves the consistent negative reviews about all of the clothes getting thoroughly cleaned because of lack of water is the difference between top loading and front loading HE washers. These machines automatically use amount of water that the machine has judged to be sufficient. With the top loaders it seemed like the water didn't get high enough sometimes to get to the top of the load. With front loaders the clothes are tumbled over and over each other while being soaked as opposed to just spinning around as with the top loaders. This is just my opinion on the 2 different types of machines. I hope this helps someone who may be on the ledge as I was. I still can't believe how clean those floor washing pads were. Get this people. Looks to be cheapest of the front loaders being sold right now. Can't imagine how the more expensive units could do any better. I will update review if any problems begin to occur.

    WOW...what a STEAL!

So, my old washer after 8 years, hit the skids. So Monday I went out at 6:30am and started my 'trek' after doing online research ALL night! I read the LG reviews...mixed but positive.... Did the local big box home improvement stores...but after exhausting that, I came to BEST BUY! LOW and BEHOLD there it was my favorite thing an OPEN BOX special on the LG....it was WAY WAY WAY less than even the SALE price....the girl in the department went over everything it had to offer, went online for the reviews to show me and slam bang SOLD...although it was a few more days for delivery, I didn't mind. It had a couple scratches on the front (which when wiped came off lol) Got it this morning, on my 4th load and if this thing did the food shopping, well, I'd MARRY it! LOL... The clothes come out almost dry! Cuts my dryer time by 3/4 (they had the dryer too, but my dryer is doing well still :O(....)... The ONLY thing you need to be cautious about is after your laundry is done WIPE DOWN THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR around the sealer....make sure to keep papertowels near by....some think it's an inconvenience, I don't! For what this thing does, it is the LEAST of the worries......and leave the door ajar so you won't get the musty smell... It is QUIET and got out GRASS STAINS from my 'gardening pants'...never saw THAT happen before! USE only HE marked detergent and get yourself the tub cleaner and do that monthly! I ran the tub clean just by itself before I started and it amazed me.... SO MUCH less water than my old top loader...and amazed no agitator needed (hated that thing)... Thanks to BEST BUY for offering ANOTHER great deal. I buy ALL my electronics here....last year I got two flat screens (22" and a 26") under 224 for BOTH.....insane deals when you hit them!

    Fabric Softener doesn't dispense

Brand new and the fabric softener doesn't dispense. Also, I live in fear that the musty smell will just worsen, and I've only used it four times. A huge pain that you have to wipe down the thing after every wash. I wish I hadn't boughten it.

    Excellent Washer!!!!

I was very skeptical at first about a front load washer that doesn't use much water but I came across a brand new open box one that I couldn't pass on due to the price and the fact that I had Reward Certificates to use from a Rewardzone partner and the free shipping and installation. After using I was amazed at how quiet it is. You have to actually listen to make sure that it is on because it doesn't use much water, as it will start out spinning to determine the load size which then determines how much water is needed to wet the clothes enough to clean. Cleans the cloths very good for not using a lot of water and even cleans well with Coldwash too. Extra Large Capacity for those big comforters that you struggle to get into a topside washer and have to push done into the water and huge loads of jeans/pants at one time. Has several settings to clean at a quicker pace or the regular pace. Plays a nice tune to let you know that it is done. Buy the matching pedestal and you don't have to bend over to load/unload.

This is my 2nd LG, first was a lemon, 2nd is 30 days old and off balance already. Did they not balance when it was installed? I'm getting a new one under the new product guarantee. I would with brands but have matching dryer

I have had a number of different front loading washers and this is the best one ever. Very quiet, spins clothes so dry that time in the dryer is very short. Wide variety of setting from small to large loads. The only drawback is when you attempt to clean the filter you end up with water on the floor. Luckily it seldom needs cleaning.

I purchased this washer along with the matching gas dryer, and so far everything is great! machine is quiet, washes clothes really well. The wash cycle takes longer, but it's worth it in the end. I love the looks of this machine and all the options you have for wash settings. So easy to use!! Love the jingle at the end of the cycle! Would recommend this to anyone who's been nervous about making a big purchase like this but was too scared. You won't be sorry.

Has all the cycles, settings and features that we need. Good value and a best buy in Consumer Reports. No regrets at all on this purchase.

    Fantastic washer for the money

We were very happy with our 12 year old Kenmore front loading high efficiency washer until it met its demise a couple of months ago. After talking to two separate repair men and finding out the cost to fix it would almost be as much as the cost to replace it, we started doing our research on new high efficiency machines. This LG washer came very highly rated and when Best Buy marked it down to $599, we decided to go for it! Because of laundry room constraints, we also purchased the matching dryer so that we could stack them. It's been almost two weeks and so far we are loving this machine. It has more cycles than our old Kenmore did, and higher capacity, though that makes the machine a lot deeper and taller than our old one. Not a big deal, but when you have them stacking, this puts the controls for the dryer pretty high. At 5'6" I can reach them, but anyone shorter would need a step stool! I am amazed at what little amount of water this machine uses to get clothes so refreshingly clean. Though delayed start wasn't a "must have" for me, it sure has been nice setting it so that I have a load of wash finished when I come home from work and can just transfer it to the dryer first thing. We also love the nice little song it plays at the end...my husband agrees it sure is better than the annoying buzzer on the previous washer! We do find the small cover and latch for the drain pump filter at the bottom of the front of the washer to be a little cheaply made for a washer of this caliber. Sometimes on high spin cycles it will actually pop open. Not a huge complaint, but I would have expected something a little more heavy duty from LG. Because this is a front loader, you do have to make sure to follow instructions after each wash so that the rubber seal doesn't collect mildew. Overall, we are finding this is a wonderful machine for the price and a great addition to our home!
