Customers are impressed with the 4.5 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle Ultralarge-Capacity High-Efficiency Steam Front-Loading Washer's quiet operation, excellent cleaning performance, and large capacity. Many appreciate its ease of use and the numerous features it offers. However, some users note that cycle times can be lengthy, and a few have reported issues with the door and spin speed. While some minor concerns exist, the positive feedback on cleaning and quietness is prominent.

Great Value In A Front Load Washer

Purchased this washer to replace an aging Whirlpool Duet model that was too small. Was unfamiliar with the LG brand until purchasing an LG DLGY1702W dryer 10/2015 that proved a great buy. Was immediately struck by how this washer remains balanced and vibration free during spin cycle even when full. My old washer would regularly get out of balance and prematurely stop the spin cycle requiring running another drain and spin cycle . Using the normal cycle with Cold Wash cuts from 15-20 minutes off wash time when compared to the old washer. Quick wash cycle washes small loads in less than 30 minutes with no apparent difference in cleanliness. Delicate cycle and hand wash-wool cycle have proven great too. By far, the best washer we have owned.

We bought this unit off the floor. Your sales staff and manager were a pleasure to work with. Too bad the water valve or control panel in the washer doesn't allow water into the machine. We would expect that when we buy something and it is broken that LG and or Bust Buy would promptly repair or replace this washer. So far that hasn't happened. Wow. Best Buy and LG both sure missed a great opportunity to have us bragging about what good products and services they have and gain our loyalty and repeat business. Maybe next week they can look at it. Not holding my breath. Or maybe I should. More deodorant maybe?

My original purchase was a set that did not fit my laundry closet when stacked. These stack evenly (unlike the current Samsung models). Best buy was great to work with during the exchange. Their team came in and took away the old set and installed the LG set, no questions asked. And I'm so pleased with the LG w/d so far. Very sleek and attractive, quick, quiet, and easy to use.

So far we are pleased with this product ,it takes in a large load with ease ,clothes come out very clean. It takes a longer time than our old top loader & yes the pipes knock and clang during the process of the water coming in .We're still experimenting with the controls & set up
I haven't tried the steam yet, we also bought the matching dryer.

Outstanding Washer - extremely happy with purchase

I did a lot of research before deciding on the LG4270 and could not be happier with my decision.
A great product that has all the features I am looking for, especially:
- smart diagnostics to get faster service in case of a break down
- turbo wash option to get laundry well soaked and cycle completed faster
- sani wash
- hand wash/wool cycle
- speed wash for lightly soiled clothing
- small load to avoid machine not detecting if too few items in drum
- internal water heater
- automatic temperature control (had to check the manual for that, as the
information on BestBuy website appears to be incorrect )
- magnetic door hinge to keep door ajar and to prevent odor
I noticed because the wash cycle take longer, the laundry comes out cleaner, especially in the "bright whites" and "sani cycle" program. Reminds me of the European washers and is one reason laundry gets cleaned better.
Love the Turbo Wash option and use it with all programs allowing it. The three jets, which spray water onto the laundry, ensure that the items are thoroughly wet. You can watch that happen by turning on the internal light; it really does a great job and alleviates concern others expressed that with some front loaders the laundry barely gets wet. This is definitely not the case with this machine in Turbo Wash mode. I always use second rise and don't feel guilty, because the machine uses little water to begin with. The magnetic door hinge feature works well and keeps the door slightly ajar to prevent odor.
A great washer - I could not be happier with my purchase.

I have owned this washer for 3 months and its pretty awesome at washing clothes on all settings. However, when you put a load in that is close to max capacity it tends to take a longer than the time it says it will take to wash. I noticed a variance between 10-30 minutes depending on what is being washed.
More details at max capacity:
Normal clothes take about 10 minutes longer.
Towels takes about 15 minutes longer.
Linenes/blankets take about 30 minutes longer.
Loads at normal capacity will capacity will wash in the time that the washer will tell you.

Problems with draining, a pain in the neck to use
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I have been doing laundry for about 40 years, and I have never had so much trouble with a washing machine! The biggest problem is that it doesn't drain completely, so at the end of the cycle, there is a cup or two of water left in the tub, meaning that while most of the load is pretty well spun out, two socks and a sleeve or one pant leg and half a towel are completely drenched - like DRIPPING wet. I've called customer "service" 8 times, and it's not resolved. I don't know if my machine is just a lemon or if it's a design flaw.
This is not our first HE front loader - we had a GE before this and it was great, but just wore out after a number of years. We have a large family and do LOTS of laundry, so the old machine had the equivalent of 200K miles, I expect. So I'm comparing this machine to our older model front loader. If I were comparing to my great grandmother's manual ringer washer, I could say hers wrung out the clothes better. When I've called for advice and service, I've been given the following recommendations: "You're probably not sorting well enough - you should be doing only socks together in one load," (!!!) and "Probably your loads are too big." "Probably your loads are too small." "You need to run the "Tub Clean" cycle every two weeks." "You need to clean the drain pump filter every two weeks."
First off, as I said, I've done laundry for 40 years, and I have abused machines before, but not this one. I do full but not supersized loads (not of socks exclusively!) and I've never, ever had to run more maintenance than emptying a lint trap (and that's only been on one previous machine, several years ago.) I read once that I should periodically run an empty cycle with bleach and vinegar, so I have in the past done that 3 or 4 times a year, but EVERY TWO WEEKS?! Also, cleaning the drain pump filter is a job that takes about 10 minutes, and though I've followed the instructions perfectly, it always has made a huge puddle (approx. 1 quart) on the floor. The person from customer service who walked me through it the first time said that's normal, and I should just have a few towels ready.
Other things I don't like are: the door doesn't click shut easily - you have to be very deliberate when closing it. Also, the default modes are not the most practical (for our family, at least - and I would think for any family choosing a 4.5 cu ft. machine.) The chime at the end of the cycle is too quiet to hear, even on the loudest, unless you're quite close -our machine is in the basement. It does seem, in general to get the clothes clean, but we haven't started baseball season yet, and I don't know how it does with bad stains. The cycle run times vary WIDELY, and they are not consistent with the estimated times in the manual. A regular cotton load takes about an hour - a whites load more like and hour and a half, but it's unpredictable. The time shows up about 1 minute after you've started the load, but it's not always accurate - (sometimes it says 55 minutes, and it's more like 65 or 70.) Overall, I'm very VERY disappointed. I've tried to get a replacement, or have them fix the drain issue, but it's not solved yet (we've had the machine 2 months, or ~100 loads.

The washer has a large capacity and has performed well. I like the way the washer senses the load and determines the wash time. Our previous washer had 2 cycle times, 56 minutes for a normal wash or 29 for a speed wash. This washer will adjust the cycle time and it often runs for less than 30 minutes! I can do more laundry quicker!

Good washer for normal cycle

Got first delivery 3/21/15, installed and used it the next day. it did its job for normal cycle, has water hammer at the beginning after that works fine for 56 minutes to complete the wash, impressed!
Now washed the king comforter using bulky/large cycle as suggested and run into an issue. It started out fine until it came down to 4 minutes left and the washer got stuck there. No more counting down even 20 minutes later with the washer continues to wash and the spin was flashing on the LCD but no spin. I had to shut the washer off, then turned it back on to switch to normal cycle to complete that load. tried bulky/large cycle again next day with the same comforter, there it went again the repeat of the same issue but this time i switched to drain/spin cycle hoping that it would just drain and spin the water off, well i was wrong, with 6 minutes left the washer continues to wash, no more counting down, stuck at 6 minutes with spin flashing on LCD. again had to switch to normal cycle to finish it.
Called BB to report the problem and received a professional help. Told it should not be like that so they offered me an exchange for a new brand or the same unit. I chose the same unit because i like it and it was working fine with normal cycle and thought it was just that unit that i received was defective.
4/1/15 received the new unit. washed the first load using normal cycle and the result was impressive. now tried the bulky/large cycle i was surprised it happened all over again the same issue with the first unit.
Called BB again to report the issue, transferred to BB technician and was told to pull out the comforter to squeeze out the water then put it back, could not believe he told me that. his reason was when the comforter got wet it got shrunk the washer unable to sense the load that's why it did not spin. I said no way i will do that. Now i called LG to have the issue be known to them. it is still within 30 days and thought of exchange for a different brand but since i like this unit and did try again washing the comforter using the normal cycle and it works great so far.
So i decided against the exchange and keep the unit but will not touch the bulky/large cycle again for now anyway. i really want to see all owners of this unit out there to try washing the king comforter using bulky/large cycle to see if they would have experienced the same issue with me.
i rated 1 because the issue with bulky/large cycle.

I've had the washer for 4 months now, and its been fantastic. It's extremely quite and been great for a wide range of washing needs. It's also mounted on the second floor and stacked with a matching dryer with no issues at all.

Great machine
- cleans well (much, much better than our old top loader)
- washes quickly (actually faster than our old machine)
- clothes dry much quicker because they are almost dry when they come out of the washer
uses less water and electricity (and so does our tumble dryer)
Seems much gentler with our clothes than our old machine.
No problems at all with water noise or imbalance - very quiet, even when spinning at its top speed.
We've been using it for 6 weeks now with no issues - it's easy to use.
I now can't imagine why we waited until our old machine died to get a front loader.
Best Buy installation was also good - on time, careful with our home and spent some time to get us going with the machine.

Recently had a baby and we were looking for a washer and dryer. After doing extensive research we settled on the 4.5 cu ft LG front-loader. It's been over 2 months and the washer has been great! Gets the clothes clean with minimal use of water. The capacity is also great! Can fit pretty large loads in there.

I love my washer. It was a little expensive but it has so many features that I love. It fits a ton of stuff which makes doing laundry a lot less of a hassle. It has lights so you can see all the things in it and it is very quiet. Sometimes I even forget the washer is on until I hear the little melody at the end.

Water everywhere - support horrible

Did a bunch of research and this looked like a solid unit. Could speak to if I like it as the first time I turned it on water started leaking. I get things happen so wasn't too concerned. I called LG assuming that they would get this taken care of right away. I did a phone call and they recommend get a text with their leak guide. Seemed reasonable even though I already checked the 2 hose connections but maybe you learn something (mind you the only reason I got rid of my old unit is I got tired of fixing it a couple times a year). Wasn't any of the normal issues. So figured I don't get out of a phone call and drop them a line. This is where they just become a nightmare to deal with. I explained my problem that I used to the unit twice and that looking under the unit I see that it is leaking from below. They made we go through all the common checks and informed me that I need to run the tub clean because it is clogged with detergent because I must of used over 2 tablespoons of detergent. I told her I used HG detergent and then measured how much I used which was exactly 2 tablespoons. She said run tub clean anyways and then call back. I turn on tub clean and it starts to leak immediately. I tell her this and she tells me tub clean will fix it. To let it run and check if it is leaking from the vent then call back. At this point I quickly realize that the conversation is going no where and that just thinking a tech is going to fix it right away is not happening. Luckily I can move washer and am a hands on guy. Pull the unit out and take off the back while it is running. It is totally coming from a connection that connects to the main wash tub. This is not a home troubleshoot situation. I call back let them know my findings. They then tell me that it is leading from the house connection on back which is what the first ticket states and that I have been using too much detergent. They say it is a new unit so it can't be broken. He takes me through the same round of troubleshooting and wouldn't listen to what I have to say. Finally after yelling at them they are sending out a tech. I'm sure they will fix and it will work. I will end up buying the matching dryer only so it will match. I don't think I will buy another LG product. Very disappointed with the support. I know this will say no opinions but just make sure if you are going buy from LG you are a person that can handle there lousy support and have time to go around in circles.
