LG washers have horrible chemical fumes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am having a terrible experience with my brand new LG washer. The solvent smell is overwhelming. LG told me this is the "new car" smell and it will dissipate if I do 10 washes. I ran it for 18 washes, and measured the VOCs at 1,981, which is almost 5 times the normal limit. The appliance salesman told me that this happens in 1 out of 100 LG machines and they have to send them back to LG. The salesman said that LG is aware of the issue and they have recently changed their production process. I get dizzy and headaches from the fumes. I am concerned about my health and the health of my family. I have had this machine for 24 days and the solvent fumes have permeated the house.

You’ve been going above and beyond with multiple washes, and we genuinely appreciate your patience. Although the "new car" smell is familiar with some new appliances, the level of VOCs you're measuring is concerning and not typical. We recommend further airing out the machine by running a cleaning cycle with a washer cleaner designed to break down odors. It may also help to leave the washer door open when not in use to improve ventilation. Ive always used Ge appliances but for some reason the washer has given me so many problems while owning it so I decided to go with a new brand and the LG had really good ratings. So far I'm not disappointed. It's quiet and the clothes come out clean so when my dryer goes Im buying the Lg matching one.

Quiet, Clean Machine!

Front loaders are way better than top loaders for water use and avoiding imbalanced loads. It is very water efficient, and most importantly, it is quiet! No more clonking and banging due to imbalance issues! The Turbo Wash feature saves time for most loads cutting run time almost in half.

However, it's pretty low down so requires a lot of bending over to load and unload. I would recommend getting it set up on something. A little loud if you're sensitive to sounds (as in when the water flows in and then is shut off, not the actual machine washing).
