Great washer; manual missing the operation section
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Washer is great. Is very quiet during wash and rinse. Spin is a little louder than the Samsung of 4 years we replaced but it definitely gets the clothes much dryer. For darker clothes you probably want to use deep wash or extra rinse as they sometimes leave a little soap behind. This is typical of most new washers. As another review has said, though, the manual is lacking. The section on how to actually USE the machine (cycles, options,etc..) is manly missing. It's in a section called "Operation" and is not in the paper manual. That section appears in the online version of the manual. Other than the manual being somewhat lacking great product. Really needs to be 4.5 stars but can't give 5 if half the functionality is hidden from the user.

must download manual before use to make easy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this washer about 1 month ago and so far it has been an excellent washer. There is a learning curve to use the machine so if you read my review and download the manual (the one that comes with the machine does not tell you how to use machine which is not helpful) it will be easy to understand. First of all, the Regular cycle on this machine is the energy efficient cycle. You cannot add Water Plus or Extra Rinse to this cycle, if you do it defaults to Deep Wash which is the same cycle with more water, but this is a very long cycle. (probably 60+mins depending on the size of the load). The water level is determined by the tub weighing the amount of clothes for every cycle. In the Regular wash cycle, the clothes do not get submerged in water, but it covers them about 60%. It has more aggressive agitation which is rougher on the clothes. I compare this cycle to a person using an old wash board with min water (hence energy efficient) that beats the crap out of the clothes to make them clean. If you use the quick wash cycle, add water plus and extra rinse to that cycle it will be like the old washer you are used to. It submerges the clothes and you can choose the medium soil to get fair agitation. It says not to use this setting for very large loads, however, I have put in fairly large loads (3/4 full tub) and it had no problem. I also set the spin to high which drys the clothes better. There is minimal noise and vibration with this machine. (make sure it is set accurately level or you may get more vibration). The other thing to know is you have to have all the settings chosen BEFORE hitting the start button- you cannot add settings once the start button is pushed. You can hit the pause on the start button to stop the cycle, to unlock the lid to add clothes which is also a nice feature. Minimal soap is needed when using these newer washers, I think the people who complain their clothes are not rinsed well most likely use too much soap. (I use 1/4 of a laundry soap cup even for large loads.) The quick wash cycle is about 50 mins for a large load. Also, short people complain about the tub being too deep. I am only 5'3", and if I stand on by tippy toes and can reach all the clothes in the tub. If I could not reach a grabber or stepping on a platform step would do the trick. I hope you find this review helpful.

Mixed feelings
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When my hundred year old Maytag died I needed to get a solid basic washer without a lot of bells and whistles. The fact that this one saved on energy and water was a plus, but I didn’t buy this machine to prove that I was a card carrying conservationist. I wasn’t used to seeing washers without agitators, but it looked like an interesting concept. While I had considered a front loading washer, the many complaints about mold made that a less desirable choice. So primarily based on the recommendation from consumer reports I bought the LG WT7100. First of all the Manual is surprisingly poor and I used the online Manual as it supposedly had more information in it. It’s poorly written, missing information, and has inadequate illustrations. Now onto the machine. As others have mentioned and complained about the normal cycle in particular does not have enough water to get all the clothes to circulate throughout the water to get wet and exposed to the detergent. The normal cycle seems to only be there to meet the standards so that they can say it is energy and water efficient. This cycle is basically nonfunctional. It is analogous to the miles per gallon listed on new cars; in order to get those miles the car is virtually empty of everything including the passengers, spare tire, and any superfluous weight except for maybe the driver, such that it is inapplicable in practice. That’s what the normal cycle is like on this machine. I thought at least that I would be able to hit the Water Plus button to increase the water level on the normal cycle but it does not function in the normal cycle, something that you’re not told in the Manual specifically for this machine. The way to get a reasonably functional wash is to use the Deep Wash cycle which uses more water to begin with and allows you to press pause, then press the water plus button, which you can do more than one time to add even more water. If you watch the clothes during this cycle they mostly all get exposed to the water and the detergent, but it doesn’t inspire confidence. One would think that LG could find an engineer who understood hydrodynamics well enough to design the wall and floor of the basin in such a way as to circulate the water and thus the clothes thoroughly throughout the cycle. I will reluctantly recommend this machine because the price is not exorbitant and it seems better than many of the other machines with so many negative reviews. Not the strongest basis for a recommendation, I know, but it’s the best I can do. Hope it helps others. By the way, while it's fine that someone from LG seems to read the reviews, the expressed agony on hearing a negative review is meaningless, similar to apologies one gets on the phone after every sentence when you call any of these companies for help. Clearly scripted with staff ordered to profusely apologize non-stop. Doesn't mean anything if you don't fix the product.

great so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased based on Consumers Report. By far the highest ratings when adding reliability and performance and cost. Installed several days ago and after multiple loads we are extremely happy. Very quite, love the balance feature and the clothing is very clean. Now if the reliability holds out....

Excellent machine, great value for the price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this to replace our first non agitator machine from Whirlpool, which lasted less than 7 years before the transmission went. Did a lot of research and read on line reviews before this purchase. This is a terrific washing machine. We like the 10 year motor warranty to start with. Although not advertised as such, it is an HE machine. Controls are simple and very easy to use. Performance had been excellent. It will display a 60+ minute wash time, then after doing it's 3-4 minute eval of the load, it drops to 35 minutes. Did a great job of cleaning everything we have put in it. Highly recommended.

So much better than my old front loader
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this washer! It replaced a 12 year old whirlpool duet sport that I hated. This washer is a cubic foot larger than the one I bought it to replace and OMG, the extra space is awesome. Like another review stated, the detergent tray does still have water in it after the cycle has finished. I just leave the lid and tray open and it's evaporated by the time I go to do another load. I've had the washer for 2.5 weeks now, so I've done about 10 loads. No complaints so far!

Are you kidding?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very hopeful that this would be a great machine after having a terrible experience with a GE. Well, it's better than the GE, but that's not saying much. It wastes water while at the same time washing clothes inadequately and not adding enough water. Your only choice to get clothes wet is to choose Deep Fill, which completely fills the entire machine with water, regardless of how much water you need. Does not get items wet. I put in two king-size pillows and the accompanying pillow cases and pillow covers. Even the pillows were not completely wet. The pillow cases were totally dry. Not one drop of water on them! So, I had to use Deep Fill and waste gallons and gallons of water. Rinse sucks. Did a load of fleece blankets. Two of the blankets are black. Machine added barely enough water, but the black blankets came out with lines of soap all over them. Can't see the soap on the other blankets, but that's just because it doesn't show. I imagine my pillows, shirts, etc all have soap residues that I cannot see. These machines are supposed to SAVE on water use. What a joke! You have 3 possible fills for a 4.5 cubic machine. Three levels only, that the machine chooses (inaccurately) for you. You are either washing a small load in tons of water or you are washing normal loads in not enough water. The deep fill is beyond a joke. Would you like your clothes to actually get wet enough to maybe get clean? Then choose Deep Fill. Oh, but what happens? It fills to the brim. You have used 4.5 cubic ft of water unnecessarily, when maybe you only need 2.5. YOU HAVE NO CHOICE!!! The old GE allowed you to choose small, medium, large OR precise fill. With the LG, if you you can't get enough water, you have to choose Deep Fill and waste gallons and gallons of water. The soak option is for only 30 minutes, The machine completely drains of water if you pause it for more than 6 minutes--thus again wasting gallons and gallons of water because you have to redo the entire wash. If you soak your clothes ahead of time in a bucket and then put them in the washer, they are, of course, heavy. And regardless of how many articles you have soaked, the machine decides you must have stuffed it to the gills and decides to completely fill the machine with water. Once again, gallons of water wasted. You waste detergent because you must add so much more detergent to a 4.5 cubic foot machine that has only 3 levels to choose from. And since it does not add enough water on its automatic settings, you have to choose deep fill unless you are doing tiny loads. And that means much more detergent. If you want to adequately rinse your clothes, you must choose the Deep Rinse. This means that even a tiny load will have the entire tub filled for a rinse. Why not just use the regular rinse for a small load---because it will not rinse adequately. THIS MACHINE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to return it and get another LG and see if it works any better. The only reason I am not going back to the GE I originally purchased at Best Buy (not my old GE, but the replacement for that one), is because the GE is louder than hell and vibrates across the entire laundry room. And it is so darn heavy I can't even move it back myself. Wish the OLD Speed Queens were still being made. The new ones are terrible, according to all reviews I have seen. So, I will get a replacement LG, see if it actually rinses the clothes, and I will ADD BUCKETS OF WATER TO EVERY LOAD so that my clothes actually get clean. Of course, once I do that, the machine will sense I've added more clothes and decide to fill to the top. So maybe I will take the time to figure out by experimentation exactly how much water to add in order to get my clothes clean without triggering the machine to add water to the brim. I have photographed every defect with this machine I can, and will use that when I talk to Best Buy about a replacement.
