Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the large capacity, excellent cleaning performance, quiet operation, and ease of use of the 5.0 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle High-Efficiency Steam Top-Loading Washer. Positive feedback also highlights the spacious tub size. While some users noted a musty smell and occasional reliability issues, these concerns were less frequently reported than the positive aspects.

    Amazing Results So Far

We just purchased this washing machine (in white-not the stainless steel color, though) within the last month, so I can't speak to longevity of the product. I have washed numerous loads of laundry and feel like I've gotten a feel for how the washing machine is working so far. I have washed bedding, everyday clothes, delicates, towels-just about everything we own and all sizes of loads. The clothes have come out clean and nearly dry. I was able to wash my two boys' twin bedding-2 quilts, 2 sets of sheets, snuggle blankets-all in one load. It fit perfectly. More importantly, everything got wet, there was soap on everything. I used the bedding/bulky cycle and it didn't get unbalanced. There are a couple drawbacks-but I don't feel like they effect the washing machine efficiency. The tub is REALLY deep. I read that in numerous reviews and tried it out in the store-looking at that specific feature because I am only 5'2". In the store it seemed fine reading down for a sock-but I wasn't thinking about how many times I would have to bend down for SOCKS-plural. Little, tiny kid socks get pretty tedious picking up from the bottom of the tub. It doesn't bother the performance of the machine, but it is something to consider if you are short. The other con is the run times-but I knew going into the process of buying a new washing machine that this would be an issue. The cycles are long-but not any longer than other models. Just be aware the cycles take at least an hour, unless you do a quick wash. We also didn't buy the pair-I wanted to, but our dryer is still running and didn't want to replace an appliance that is working. If you can swing it, I would buy the pair. Since the washing machine is so large our current dryer can't handle the really big loads (like all the bedding) and I have to split it into multiple loads. Before running the machine I read the book and quick start guide cover to cover. I also use only HE detergent. I think both of these things helped a great deal. I knew what to expect with the taller machine and longer cycles-so I wasn't surprised by these features. I love the washer-I hope it holds up well.

    Love this washing machine!

We've had this washing machine two weeks now, after suffering for 7.5 years with an awful front loading machine (never again!). It's easy to use, has many great cycle options, and washes small or large loads with ease. I've used it to wash casual adult and baby clothing, bedding (sheets, comforters, quilts and fleece blankets), towels, and dress clothes. Everything has come out clean and fresh. Cycles are fast. The noise is minimal, the most noise is when water is filling and draining, but it's not as loud as our previous front loader. The machine, so far, as stayed balanced much better than our previous machine. One special thing I've noticed so far is that I haven't had to use any type of fabric softener, clothes are coming out of the dryer soft and static free after being washed in this new machine, with only detergent. I have no idea why that would be happening, but I'll take it! On a detergent note, this machine uses the tiniest amount of detergent, a "48 loads" bottle is maybe 1/4 gone and has been in use for at least 20 loads! We use Tide Free, and the amount of soap used is the "1" on the cap. Crazy! More money savings! Install went well, the gentlemen arrived within the two hour window and called us about a half hour ahead to let us know they were nearby. Machine was installed well, old horrible machine was taken away and everything was cleaned up. If I had ANYTHING at all bad to say about this machine, it's that it has a huge capacity and therefore is a little challenging for a 5'3 individual such as myself to reach the very bottom to get those tiny baby socks. But, it's not a huge deal.

It was installed by Best Buy. I bought in charcoal and it is really a sleek looking set, thee are so many bells and whistles on this thing I doubt I will use every setting. After having it a month I think that it does a great job. The lid being soft close is nice and the clothes come out very clean. I do like the song it plays when it is finished and overall I am thrilled with the set. I threw a queen sized alternative down comforter and a king sized velour type coverlet in there together... no problem! Dryer Dried like a champ too, the dryer is pretty neat that depending on where you put your hand to open it, the door either opens from the bottom or the side. Pretty swanky :) I'm now an LG girl. ...The only negative thing I can come up with is that I think it's actually pretty loud despite the noise reduction technology. My laundry room is right of my dining room and I sit here often and work, even with the door closed, it is like a car wash is going on in there. Really though, if I'm cooking bacon, I expect to hear the sizzle...That being said, It's doing a great job so I guess that might just come with the territory. I have no desire to take it back for that.

This washer and dryer set was the absolute worst set my husband and I have ever used. You think because they are so expensive they will be worth it... that is not the case here. The washer never truly washed our clothes and yes I tried every setting possible and the dryer would take 3 and 4 and 5 times to dry a small load. Overall don't waste your time and money.

Great machine - I think I'm in love

I was forced to make this purchase after my old Kenmore died on me (I was secretly rejoicing over that death). I did a lot of research before making the purchase - made easier by the fact that I already own the matching LG dryer. First of all this thing is huge! I can't believe how much I can get in there - more than 2 times what my old washer could do in a single load. This machine has probably given me back 2-3 hours of my life a week, and for that alone it is worth the money. A number of reviewers complained that the machine doesn't use enough water. I had over 2 weeks of dirty clothes piled up due to not having a machine (family of 5) so I immediately put this thing to use. I stood there and watched the entire first cycle, and I agree, that, at first it appears there is not enough water. Some of the clothes still had dry spots, but if you stand there for an hour like I did, the machine continues to add water and agitate until the clothes are fully saturated with soapy water. My clothes came out exceptionally clean, even with the relatively frugal amounts of water used. And now we can shower while the machine runs and not worry about running out of hot water! The clothes were also spun so well that my dryer time was cut significantly. I also saw reviewers claim that their clothes came out very wrinkled in this machine. I concur on that - I washed a load that included jeans and all of them were exceedingly wrinkled even after going through the dryer. That is annoying, but not enough to ruin my love affair with this machine. My clothes were cleaner than they had ever been in their clothing-lives. I can live with wrinkles. I had no problems with shaking or balance issues. I washed large loads, small loads, a king size comforter, towels, delicates, you name it. I used the soak cycle, the steam feature, etc. I have tried everything and I am extremely satisfied with this unit. I finished all our clothes in record time and I wish I had more because laundry is actually (almost) fun to do with this machine. As far as stain removal - I would say this machine does no better than my last one. I still have to pre-treat, but the soak feature is really a nice addition. I read in the manual that this machine cannot wash waterproof items. Just for kicks (and because I was dying to wash anything I could get my hands on) I stripped my boys waterproof mattress covers and washed those bad boys. And yes, it was a big fail. The mattress covers seemed to collect the dirt from everything else in the wash so at the end of the load they were filthy. I had to wash them by hand. So take it from me, don't go there. One minor criticism - this is my first HE machine. I had an old central agitator that required a lot of laundry soap. I have always used Tide and bought the Tide with the HE symbol on it (which can be used for HE or regular machines), and as far as I can tell, I am still using the same amount of soap. The cup size is the same as the regular Tide and since there are no instructions, I used a full cup. The first few loads smelled a lot like Tide, so I suspected I was overdoing it, but with no guidance, I am still trying to figure out how much is enough. The instructions could be clearer on this. In sum, great machine. It has changed my life and I no longer spend an entire Saturday trying and failing to do all the dirty laundry.

When it works, it works great. However, the error for the water supply has come up 3 times and it's only 1 month old. I have checked the filter every time and there is no debris. After reassembling it works fine for a while and then the error will come on again. For this costly of machine it should work flawlessly.

It has been a few months and I love my new washer and dryer. Im new to the lg brand but so far I am pleased with performance. Clothes come out clean and well drained wich aids in drying time. Surprisingly quiet. it accommodates my largest load and has a variety of useful settings. Hopefully it will serve me well for many years, that's the true test.

    Fantastic Washer!

Let me start off saying this was an huge upgrade for me and my family ! Coming from an old Hotpoint washer and drier that was given to me by a friend, This is like an Mercedes Benz in my laundry room! First let me tell you about the many many washing features, From a cold wash feature that uses jets that sprays detergent into my clothes to better penetrate the fibers and remove dirt and grime from my clothing. To a steam feature that sanitizes the clothing in the washer to remove dust and allergens. It even has an Anti-Vibration feature that allows EXTREMELY fast spin speeds to remove almost all the water from clothing or bedding ! (This works well with the LG drier to reduce drying time thus saving energy!!) All the features work well but there is one quirk with the fabric softener. Its a feature on this washer? I don't understand why some cycles will not allow me to add steam and fabric softener or I can't use the ColdWash option and fabric softener. Its not that big of a deal but its a downer for a washer of this high caliber. Also larger loads will be tricky to place in the washer with out a UB error displaying on the washer but the washer will fill with water and drain out to try and move the clothing around so the washer won't be uneven, an even load will reduce the amount of vibration in the spin cycle. Sometimes this works and other times you will have to move the clothing your self. This washer is an HE (High Efficiency) Washer so you have to use a special detergent (it says HE on the packaging) it will produce less suds so it will not damage your machine. The washer will use less water, and will not come with an agitator in the middle of the machine which is a good thing because you can put in large items without having to wrap it around the agitator. The machine spins and rocks to figure out how much clothing is in the washer and will apply the correct amount of water to suit the load! Its amazing technology, that all works will together to get your clothes super clean using the least amount of water and energy ! Overall I love my washer and I would defiantly recommend this model to anyone in the market for a top of the line washer with all the latest features in an attractive body.
