Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the large capacity, excellent cleaning performance, quiet operation, and ease of use of the 5.0 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle High-Efficiency Steam Top-Loading Washer. Positive feedback also highlights the spacious tub size. While some users noted a musty smell and occasional reliability issues, these concerns were less frequently reported than the positive aspects.

    Great Washer and Compact Too

I replaced my 19 year old Amana agitator washer with this. I love just pushing a couple of buttons and having the load start. I've only done about 3 equivalent Amana loads with this but probably could do 5. It's quiet and doesn't shake much at all. I have a few other LG appliances and have really come to like LG products. We don't have much space in the utility closet so this machine's specs really helped save space. The clothes get clean. It is a reach to get to the bottom so if you are shorter than 5'5" you will need a stool. Make sure your installer uses a leveling tool to confirm the washer is level. My installer also said to wash the initial cycle empty with hot water. And get the steel hoses Best Buy makes you buy. They are worth every penny. I won't use all the bells and whistles I imagine but do need to read the manual some at least LOL.

    Great washer

We read some horrible reviews of this washer as well as great ones. We decided after a horrible experience with a front loading Samsung washer and dryer to go with LG top loaders. We've had trouble with washers moving during a spin cycle and this washer didn't even move and when I take the clothing, bedding or towels out they're rung out really well even on a medium spin cycle. This washer is quiet except the water intake and draining but I can handle that noise. The steam function was one I thought was ridiculous and unneeded. Well let me tell you it is an awesome feature for a person with numerous allergies! I also cannot use fabric softener on my under clothes and the steam function seems to take out static and freshens my clothing better than any scented fabric softener. My last washer seemed to take forever and I had trouble keeping laundry washed, this one I have no problem what so ever. After two weeks I'm totally happy and satisfied with this washer. The only issue I see is that the bulky bedding doesn't always seem to be wet in every area when removing from the washer but it smells clean and looks clean so it's already above my last washer.

When shopping for a washer an dryer, I came across this and was blown away. Its advanced but simplistic enough for me to learn its features quickly. I recommend if you are avoiding front loaders, going with this model.

    large top load washer

Very big washer, can fit multiple loads with no problems. Buttons are easy to use functionality. The washer does get loud at higher speed cycles. First washer I got was very load and shook a lot. Tried adjusting the legs but no fix. Got it replaced and works fine. Still loud but not like the old one.

    OK Except for Unbalancing

I meant to buy a less expensive version of this washer two years ago. It would have meant a month's wait for delivery. The next higher version did not have a raised electronic panel on the back of the machine. So I wound up paying much more than I intended for the steam option version. This washer takes much more time than my previous washer, so that was an adjustment. It cleans clothes fairly well and does large comforters with no problem at all. However, if you plan to wash small loads, this is not the washer for you. The washer becomes unbalanced so many times that it often takes me two to four hours to do a small load. Very frustrating. My husband does only large loads and has no problem. Yesterday I did recommend this washer to a friend who said she does only large loads.

    Great Washing Machine..

After a lot of research and reading of reviews, I decided to buy my first LG washing machine. This machine is awesome. Great features, especially turbo wash if you need something washed quickly. There is also an Allergiene steam cycle . I also like the glass top so you can look and see the cloths being washed. The direct drive runs smooth and comes with a 10 year motor warranty. Most importantly the cloths are washed clean.

    The Good and Bad

First, would I buy this washer again? Sadly, no. There are things I like about the washer...the chime is cute, it's easy to load/unload, but there are deal killers as well that I wish I'd paid more attention to before deciding to buy this washer. The reviewers who mention that the washer is hard on their clothes and that the testament to that is the amount of lint produced in the wash are NOT KIDDING. This washer is ruining our clothes by the amount of twisting/wringing it does during the wash cycle. I have to be really careful about sorting clothes for a load as putting anything that generates lint (a towel, sweatshirt, socks) in with something that catches lint (polar fleece, polo shirt) means that the lint catcher will come out of the wash completely covered with lint, and no amount of lint rollering will remove all of it. Additionally, the wash cycles take much, much longer than the wash cycles in the front loader I used to have, and the clothes are definitely not cleaner. Overall I'm giving it a 3-star, but only because it's an LG and seems to be pretty high quality. Performance-wise, it's fair to poor in my book and I would exchange it for a front loader in a heartbeat, if BB would let me. :(

7 years still going strong. Only bad thing i can say is , when washing a large or bulky blanket the washer will often give off a error in the SPIN stage because it has a hard time keeping the blanket level in the tub.

    Shimmy, shimmy shake

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a good washer, but we were expecting great. Best Buy had to replace first one because of excessive shake. (Floor is solid, machine level.) Second machine also shakes a lot, just not as much. Make sure you have at least a clear inch all around the washer with nothing touching otherwise you will have banging and rattling. Can't butt up to matching dryer. Really shakes with small loads. Long cycles, but there is a quick wash function. Cotton clothes get very wrinkled in this machine due to the high spin rate of the drum. This smashes the clothes against the side where many drain holes and agitation bumps add to the wrinkling. Detergent and softener tray is flimsy and I highly doubt it will last 10 years. Chime signal at end of cycle, not loud enough. Pros: It's reasonably quiet. Gets the clothes clean. Gentler than an agitator. Sanitary & Allergen cycles are nice for medical lab coats and bedding. Controls are pretty intuitive, but I have to look up some. Lots of options. Make sure you use "HE" detergent. Has tub cleaning option. Not sure if I will recommend this to friends.

My only issue is that I am short and needed to purchase a step stool in order to reach the bottom of the machine. It works great, the only thing you need to remember is to not fill it all the way up unless you have a huge dryer as well.

Had gone through too many high-end front loaders and decided to switch to a top-loader HE. This does an excellent job cleaning laundry and seems to hold larger loads. And it doesn't blow up. I'm happy.

    Best Washer I've Owned

I'm very happy with this washer. To be honest, I was prepared to pay quite a bit more to get a good washer, but not even taking into account price, it offered the features and the solid build quality that I wanted. So many of the washers these days feel like really cheap toys, made of thin plastic. Not this one. Rock solid. I really love the capacity of this washer. I can throw my queen sized blankets in there, no problem at all. And the features are great too. I washed a wool blanked last week and it came out great. I think this washer is an absolute steal for the price. They ought to be charging about double for it.

Maybe it's just an issue with high speed HE washers but even on the lowest spin speed and delicate settings my quality non-iron shirts come out wrinkled. I get them out as soon as the cycle is done and the machine is definitely not over loaded. I'm surprised no one else mentioned that in reviews. Just not what I expected from a washing machine that retails over $1000. The machine is otherwise fairly quick.

So I just got this new LG washing machine installed this past Saturday. I like the features, the "command center" and the clothes came out clean. However, water started to leak from the bottom of the machine on just the second load. Checked the water line connections and all was dry on the outside, so it definitely came from within the machine. Called Best Buy and was given the option to repair or replace...getting it replaced this Thursday...keeping my fingers crossed. From what I'm reading reliability with LG Washers can be hit or miss. Thinking I should have purchased the Samsung...which I'll do if this thing acts up again. ugh.
