After about 6 months the washer would no longer turn on. After calling support, we were told to unplug the washer and hold the start button for 5 seconds and then plug the washer back in. This apparently resets the panel. This worked but then slowly it became a regular occurrence to have to unplug the washer and "reset" the panel. After about a month the reset solution would no longer work. The warranty repair person was very competent and knowledgeable and told us that you have to be very gentle with the panel. He replaced the panel and the washer started working again. It is now about a year after the initial repair and the same problem has started happening. This design appears to be flawed so if I were you I'd avoid this model.

It doesn't save on electricity or water so I mostly use the short wash feature for every wash. But the biggest problem is that it will randomly refuse to turn on. And LG offers a solution to do a hard reset which doesn't work and their suggestion is to call for service. They don't offer a way to call or comment on their CS resources. Do a search and you will see hundreds of unsatisfied customers looking for a solution to this problem. I wish I would have had an older review to look at before I paid $800 for a machine that I don't know whether it will work or not. The only solution that works for me is to unplug it for 24 hours when this happens and then it works. Better hope you don't need to wash clothes the day it just randomly stops. I wouldn't buy this again even in the newer version as the problem seems to be very common.
