Broken In Less Than 3 Years
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In less than 3 years of ownership, the drain pump of this washer broke. My options to get it fixed were either a $300.00 repair, or for me to try and fix on my own. Since $300.00 is ONE FOURTH the entire cost of the washer, I'm going to try and repair on my own. I'm so disappointed in this washer. It's the most expensive washer I've ever purchased, and literally the only time I've ever needed an appliance repaired. I would recommend avoiding LG washers.

Already needs to be replaced.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The bearings have gone out and it will cost $600.00 to repair. I can buy a new one for that. This machine is only 7 years old. For the money I spent I would expect it to last longer.

I've had it a month and it already needs serviced
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It goes out of balance all of the time. It doesn't matter if it's a light load or a load of towels it won't finish the spin cycle. There's no reason for it and redistributing the load doesn't fix it. The machine itself is level. Will be having it serviced shortly.

It's worth the pretty price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I research before every purchase. Going on 3 mths now w/this washer & although it's big & expensive I would buy it again. My last front loader was a Samsung & this one blows it away. Pros: -Cuts laundry time in 1/2. My king size down comforter fits. I can wash all my towels in one load now. -Finally some one put a tub light in a washer! -Saves $, we have a water softener & w/a full load I only need to fill the detergent to the #1 line on the bottle cap. -It's quiet & doesn't vibrate like crazy once it's balanced. -Door magnet to air out tub. I had to use a towel to prop my old front loader door open so you don't get that musty smell. I still dry it w/a cloth. -Lots of wash settings to choose from + make your own custom setting. -The Cold Wash & Turbo Wash settings get clothes clean using less time w/o using warm water, like for khaki or light colored clothes. -The Sanitary & Allergiene settings eliminate dust mites from bedding & sanitize clothing like undies from a toddler in midst of potty training. -If you haven't switched to a He machine, you need to. You save $ over all. Your wash time is longer (typically 50 mins) but your dry time is shorter (30+) because the high speed spin cycle removes a lot more water than an old school one. Cons: -The washer comes w/a hose, but Best Buy says you need their hose w/a higher psi. Doesn't make sense seeing as how your home's pressure is regulated at the main valve-thing. -Measure the space the machine will be, but also make sure it clears your door. It's huge! I'm 5'3" & stacking these things were not an option for me cause I'm short. -Get pedestals. I didn't have them w/my first pair & it was back breaking. What's more important to you? Ease of not having to bend w/pedestals or w/o pedestals where you break your back, but can use the top of machines for baskets, folding, etc. -The Lg liquid detergent bottles don't fit in the pedestal drawer. Too tall. -Wish the end of cycle chime alert was louder. -Wish it came w/a cheat sheet for the many wash cycles vs the at-a-glance laminated trouble shooting sheet it came with. -Recommend paying for the extended 4 yr warranty. Machines are so computerized these days. My last Samsung pair had an issue 2 yrs in & the ext warranty covered it. Repair would've cost $400 to fix it. -You don't need this lg capacity for a 2 person household.

Love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this washer, I like to watch it wash the clothes as well, I threw my king sized comforter in to wash it along with some sheets, i had to take the sheets out in the middle of the load because it could not balance to start the spin cycle, so next time i will make sure only the comforter is in the washer.... everything eles washes GREAT, spins the clothes super fast they come out almost dry, I bought the gas dryer that matches this on, we stacked the dryer on top of the washer with the stacking kit. I read other reviews on lg units and was nervous about making the purchase since it was no cheap decision, my old 14 yr kenmore elite top loader (which I have maintained warranty on, and have replaced major componants under said warranty) worked ok still, i just wanted to upgrade and be able to wash my comforters at home rather then the laundry mat, we choose these units (LG mega loader) because we loved how the units looked and how they appeared to perform. I also purchased a 5 year warranty on both the washer and dryer, I want to make sure my investment is protected, with all the new computer advances these units have, you never know what can or will fail. (my units are in the garage so noise is not a factor for me, however the washer is super quite, the dryer is quite once the rollers that turn the drum warm up, about 2 minutes into start) Oh yes, I almost forgot..... you only use about 3 tablespoons of soap as appose to a cup full in the old washer.... saves alot on soap/money!!! uses less soap because the washer uses less water.

If zero stars were an option ...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This washer is currently part of a class action lawsuit. When we purchased it, we noticed a tendency to smell moldy and accumulate mold around the rubber seal. We called in to LG customer service and they told us to clean it with bleach. They failed to mention there was a pending class action. After repeated calls, we looked online to find out about the class action but, because we were late in looking, we were unable to register as part of the action. Meaning the customer service people at LG omitted telling us the washer is a big piece of junk ... So, now we have to go purchase a new washer AND dryer because they have to be stackable, for our home. Never again LG, never again.

Almost two weeks now andit is superb!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old Maytag was still crankin' after 20 years but we began noticing grease and detergent spotting after washing was complete, so I bought this machine because it was the largest capacity I could find unless I wanted to go Speed Queen coin-op. It's only a little over a week and I'm bored. I usually spend my after work hours doing laundry, running up and down stairs to do a second rinse with fabric softener. This machine does all that for me AND does a lot more laundry to boot. It IS quiet most of the time but not silent like some say when it's in certain cycles. Of course, I live in a 96 year old firetrap and I can hear the silverfish playing tag in the attic, so I give this one a break. Very quiet! I'm anxious to see how long it goes before a repair but I'm cautiously optimistic because the build quality is superb. I always added all kinds of stuff like expensive detergent, oxygen cleaners, boosters and enzyme cleaners to get stuff clean. This machine has used a minimal amount of each of these and still comes out cleaner than I've ever seen. Like new fabrics, actually. The steam clean works amazingly well, although the wash time is increased unless you use the Turbo-wash feature. Yes, I've heard of the door mold problem so after I'm finished with each session, I wipe the door seal and door window with a old towel and leave the door slightly ajar #it has a magnet to keep it from coming open accidetally# so I think I'm ok there. That's less than a 40 second job. Now I'm just waiting for installation of the matching dryer. If this stuff continues to work as is with no breakdowns it will be worth every penny and more. Also, read your instruction manual if you buy one of these, or any other appliance for that matter. It's worth it's weight in gold although I did notice a few things that could be explained better. Then you won't be putting delicates in the cotton cycle. The book says you can change the end of cycle tone but I can only change the volume of tone.
