This model does not have presoak capability. You need to buy a model with a soak button. Product support frustrating. First call eventually directed me to a YouTube video that didn’t help. No option to download this function. Tried to send email and since this model wasn’t listed I had to call again. Finally got the truth that I wouldn’t have this functionality.

Would not recommend this washer. The top lid latch has failed twice in the last 8 months and LG will not recognize the design flaw. Search Reddit with the model number and you will find many similar stories. Getting it fixed is a major hassle and LG will do everything they can to avoid handing the repair.

The default wash cycles are programmed WRONG. They conflict with the users manual; most cycles default to HOT wash and SUPER HIGH SPIN. LG will not listen and insist that if there is no error code, there is no problem. Best Buy replaced this twice and finally told me to pick out something else as the second one had the SAME problem. Check the internet, many people are complaining about this very same issue. Do not waste your time on this one. It has damaged clothes and cost me many days of missed work.

Third party delivery service installed my drain hose in the wrong place, ran a quick wash per protocol, and water flooded my hardwood floors and my finished basement ceiling. Literally ran around with a screaming 10mo old grabbing buckets and sopping up water with my own towels. They returned to recheck their install and blamed both my plumbing and the LG product. Water remediation arrived and correctly installed the drain hose in two seconds and the machine is perfectly fine. My house ruined. Absolute nightmare!!!!!!!

This washing machine has some serious quirks to it. It requires you to download an App to run basic functions on the washing machine like download a delicate cycle. It takes 30 minutes plus to download the app, enter all of your information, download another function, get serial number off of the washer, look up your purchase date and price etc.. etc.. etc... Now you have an app to start your machine from your couch instead of pushing a button on any other washing machine

Hi, Christopher. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG Washer (WT8400CB) model. We understand your concern regarding the requirement to download the app for certain functions. The ThinQ app is here to help with cool stuff like custom cycles, remote control, and maintenance alerts, but we know that getting everything set up can feel a bit tricky.

Here’s a little tip to make things smoother: just make sure your washer is connected to Wi-Fi and registered in the ThinQ app before you dive in. This way, downloading custom cycles like "Delicate" will be a breeze! If you’re having any trouble with connectivity, try resetting your washer’s network settings by holding the Wi-Fi button for 3 seconds, and double-check that your phone is on the same network.

We really appreciate your feedback, and we’re here to help you get the most out of your washer. Feel free to drop us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport, and our team will be more than happy to find ways to make things easier for you. Take care! ^Juvy LG

This is a terrible washing machine. I haven’t had it for 6 months and I regret buying it. It has this super deep tub you would think was great for washing a king comforter but it’s terrible. My comforter doesn’t even fill the tub half way and every time you wash it (even with its deep fill option). The top of it comes out dry and with soap on it. Clothes also do not come clean at all. I have a baby and some poo got on her car seat cover, placed it in the washing machine and it it looks just like it did when it went in. Unfortunately I was not able to return it during the return window because I went through a bad delivery when my daughter was born and now they won’t take it back.

Hi, Brandi. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand your concern with the LG Washer (WT8400CW) model, especially given the challenges you’ve faced with its performance. We strive to provide reliable, high-quality products that exceed our customer's needs and expectations. The deep tub on your washer is designed to handle large loads, but it sounds like the agitation and water level may not be optimal for certain bulky or heavily soiled items like your comforter and baby gear. To improve cleaning results, we recommend using the "Heavy Duty" cycle for larger items, as this is designed for bulkier loads like comforters. You could also try adding a bit more detergent if you’re washing a large or soiled item, as it may need a bit more to get fully clean.

Additionally, if there’s still residue left on items after washing, it’s a good idea to check the washer’s drainage and spin cycle. Sometimes, if the washer isn’t draining properly or if it’s overloaded, it can affect the wash quality. Buyer beware, LG will not stand behind this appliance and will blame their workmanship issues on you, the user. We purchased this unit in September 2024 and were initially very satisfied. However, this past weekend, one of the lid hinges broke internally, leaving the lid loose and misaligned. Despite the unit having slow-close hinges designed to lower the lid gently, LG is refusing to cover the repair, claiming we applied "excessive force" when closing it—a completely baseless assertion.

This machine does not allow the use of hot water for washing clothes. The warmest water we obtained was somewhat lukewarm even at the hot water setting. An oil stain on pants was only partially removed by the lukewarm water. We returned the machine. Best Buy was very helpful in checking that we had made no mistake and in managing the return process.

Hello there, RayS. Thank you for sharing your experience with us regarding your LG WT8400CW top load washer. We understand your inquiry about the water temperature during hot water washes, and that you found it to be only lukewarm.

For LG washers, especially high-efficiency models, the water temperature for different cycles is often regulated to optimize cleaning and energy consumption. While there is a "Hot" setting, the actual temperature may be a blend of hot and cold water to reach a specific target temperature rather than purely hot tap water. This is part of the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) feature designed to ensure consistent performance and energy efficiency.

If you believe the hot water is significantly below what is expected even for a blended temperature, you could check that both the hot and cold water supply hoses are correctly connected to the hot and cold inlets on the back of the washer. Also, ensuring that your home's hot water supply is fully turned on and that there's no issue with your water heater's output temperature can be helpful.

The appliances I purchased from Best Buy were supposed to be delivered today, but they didn’t arrive. Now they’re saying they will be delivered on February 4th. The appliances that were supposed to be delivered on January 28-29 are delayed, and on top of that, they casually tell me I can cancel if I want. I recently got the LG 5.5 cubic foot washer, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer for my laundry routine. One of the standout features for me is how quiet it is—seriously, during the spin cycle, you hardly hear a thing! It's such a relief not having to deal with that loud, rumbling noise that most washers make. The size is also perfect for my family's needs; I can fit a large load comfortably without feeling like I’m pushing it to its limits. The controls are user-friendly, which makes it easy to choose the right setting for different types of clothes. Overall, I'm really impressed with this washer. If you’re looking for something that performs well and keeps the noise down this is definitely worth considering!

Hi, Tiffany. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We understand your concern about the LG Washer (WT8400CW) model not meeting your expectations. We strive to provide reliable, high-quality products and ensure a smooth experience.

It sounds like the washer’s water level sensor might be misbehaving, which can affect the cycle performance. A helpful troubleshooting step would be to check if the load size is properly balanced, as unbalanced loads can sometimes cause the machine to add too much or too little water. Hi, Isela. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We understand how important it is for your LG Washer (WT8400CW) model to handle all types of stains, especially when you're investing in a large-capacity washer. We strive to provide reliable, high-quality products that exceed our customer's needs and expectations. As a first troubleshooting step, we recommend trying the "Heavy Duty" wash cycle with a pre-treatment option for stubborn stains. For dirt stains, using a stain remover or adding an extra rinse cycle could help get the best results. You might also want to check the detergent you're using to make sure it's suitable for your washer’s capabilities. We appreciate your feedback, and we’re here to help ensure you get the most out of your washer. ^Juvy LG
