Excellent 2015 4k HDTV In Normal Lighting
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Know what you're buying. This is an edge-lit IPS LCD 4k HDTV. Edge-lit sets get extremely bright, and IPS offers wide viewing angles and excellent color reproduction. The cons to edge-lit and IPS are poorer black levels and lower contrast ratio, especially in dark viewing environments. If you do most of your watching in daylight, or with the lights on, and/or some of your seating positions are off-angle, this TV is ideal. If you do your viewing in the dark, buy something else. Look at edge-lit or full-array VA LCD sets from Vizio, Samsung, Panasonic, and others. Or pick up a plasma if you can still find one. If you buy this set and still do some occasional viewing in the dark, purchase some "bias lighting"; it will make the black levels seem deeper.

Poor software and response
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have experienced this TV for three months now. The picture quality and sound are both excellent. The software, however, is very poor. It constantly freezes when navigating through the YouTube app (which is our most-used app). The remote consistently will not respond in any app which makes for very unpleasant experiences when the volume is very loud. It eventually responds, though it may take up to 15 seconds. If the internet router is restarted, the user has to manually go back to the internet settings for it to reconnect. Often the YouTube app will freeze on a 'LOADING...' screen, where we have not been patient enough to see how long it may take to respond. This was our first 4k/Smart/3D TV purchase, so we chose what we believed would be great value according to the reviews. However, we have been extremely disappointed and slightly regretful for making this purchase. The 3D and 4k viewing experiences are still developing, so this was an investment in the future. Within one week of our purchase, Best Buy lowered the cost of this TV by $200. If you are making a purchase on similar reasons, we'd recommend you invest in a different TV.

The 3D is fantastic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took a chance on buying the LG65uf8500 model to see broadcast 3D since no sellers I've found seem to be able to demonstrate the 3D setting. Although it isn't as dramatic as a 3D movie, it adds considerable dimension to sports, and the passive lightweight glasses are not uncomfortable. It was definitely worth the purchase.

We Love It!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once the settings are adjusted accordingly, the picture is awesome. It has a great Web browser and the applications available are just what we needed. Netflix, youtube, etc. The sound is not the best but mine came with an LG sound bar so it doesn't matter. I have heard people say the remote voice command didn't work that well, but it has worked for us. We love watching anything on this T.V and wish we can have one in every room. It enhances the picture with anything you watch.

So far, so good.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really try to do my research prior to buying something in this price range. Mainly because I get massive buyers remorse if I choose the wrong item. So after weeks of research, education, and visits to Best Buy, I decided on this TV. I came very close to the new Sony 65" that was a few hundred more. But ultimately it was the LG's LOCAL DIMMING that sealed it. I know Sony has something "similar", but I wanted the real deal. So it's on the wall and looks amazing! I'm still planning on calibrating it, but out of the box it's pretty sweet. The 3D is solid, 4K videos look amazing, and the XBOX360 looks way better than it did on my old Sony 60" LCD. It's super-thin, the pointer remote makes everything a lot easier, and the #1 thing- my wife is very happy with it!! Happy wife, happy life. So far I really like my TV!

A Beautiful Display
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received my LG 65UF8500 last Saturday and have been using it for almost one week. It’s setup in my living room which has several windows and hangs on the wall with a wall mount. I purchased it on sale from BestBuy and it also came with the LG sound bar and woofer. Currently have the following devices hooked up to my 65UF8500. (1) roof antenna, (2) DVD player, (3) Apple TV. I’ll be upgrading my Netflix for the 4k subscription. This is my first LCD TV. My old TV was a 40” XBR Sony CRT which I had for 12 years. It weighted 302 lbs and I couldn’t even give it away. Thankfully BestBuy hauled it away and said it would be recycled. I guess all things are relative. Compared to my old TV, this 65UF8500 is truly amazing! The colors are vibrant, the blacks are black, the whites are white. No stuck pixels. The sounds are great and thanks to the woofer, I can feel the sound which is something new to me. Everything on this machine works! Yes, it does have some minor light bleed here and there on the edges, but then again, so does my iPhone 6 Plus. I guess that’s just a thing with IPS screens. It does not bother me one bit, even in a pitch black room. I give this machine two thumbs up. I’m really happy with my purchase and I’m going to keep it. I did look into LG’s 65” OLED TV but I just didn’t want to spend that much money. Since I purchased the 65UF8500 on a newly opened BestBuy credit card and then immediately paid it off, I get a blue-ray player for free with money left over! I think it’s a win-win situation. If you get a blue-ray player for this TV, get the one that does 4k upscaling. Hats off to LG for making such a great display and keeping it in my budget. Cheers!

For now save your money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have this TV in the living room it's easy to use, but somehow I think we have a defective model, the colors are faded ,and the blacks have this washed out appearance, I have a plasma thats 4 years old that's still more vibrant in the day then this So either my TV is busted... Or I might be the only one telling you to save your money by giving an "Honest" review. --I'd be happy change my review if LG says I have a defective model and swaps mine out, calibrates it to how it's supposed to look -but currently I'm sitting here disappointed- Also the remotes cool and easy to use

expected more
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well to be honest I expected more. The picture has a lot more motion blurr then I would expect even after fine tuning all the settings (which is definitely recommend) the picture leaves you wishing you had the OLED tv. The contrast on this TV is terrible. I'm coming for a 720p plasma and I personally feel it has better contrast then this, and definitely less motion blurr. That being said the features are nice and the WebOS is fast. I've read it was pretty slow on previous models. The magic remote is awesome, but I can't seem to find a calibration setting and I'm pointing it off the screen to get to edges. Being that the panel is lit from the edges you can actually see the light source on the edges when its on a dark black or grey scene. All in all wait until more manufacturers offer OLED screens and it drives the price down. Then get an OLED tv!

Great UHD picture quality, but falls short on HD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV two weeks and when I got it out of the box and hooked it up, I was shocked to notice that the HD picture on the TV was worse than my 4 year old Samsung LED TV. Also the picture quality of the Netflix 4K content was worse from the internal TV app, than an external app on my Sony Bluray player. Long story short, I returned the TV and purchase a Samsung 65JS8500. The picture quality was just night and day difference!!!! IMO Samsung just can't be beat when it comes to UHD.

TV picture great - apps not so great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this tv for a great price and the picture is awesome. It is DirecTV ready but it took them 5 hours to get it working. After all that I found that you have to purchase a DirecTV remote to be able to pause, rewind or fast forward if you have a dvr whole home setup. The Wi-Fi Direct and LG Connect Apps don't work with Apple devices. Too bad they don't make "dumb" 4K TV's and them I could get an Apple TV to go with it instead of spending money for all these "smart" features.
