Simply Amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The LG OLED65E6P is simply an amazing TV. Amazingly thin, super contrast, bright colors and loads of features. I had personally been holding out on the 2015 models due to HDR and Dolby Vision not being supported, though I still wanted them due to their picture quality. Once I saw the videos out of the CES, I was sold on the new model. Everything they talked about in those videos is evident in the 2016 version. Pencil thin is no joke. The main portion of the TV is 2 panes of glass thick. It looks amazing, but this is the one thing that scares me most about this TV. All I can imagine is someone grabbing the TV from the top corner to rotate it out and the screen shattering from being twisted. It feels as if the glass is tempered, but still has some play to it that makes it feel flimsy enough to break easily. I’m not going to test this theory and will stick to grabbing it from the speaker base. I have been in the market for a new TV for a couple of years now and have been constantly checking out the new model TVs every chance I get. I have yet to see one as thin as this and with such an amazing picture. There is no comparison to how deep the blacks are on this TV. At times, when screens are transitioning, you may think that the TV completely turned off, because essentially it did as the pixels are off. I don’t have a 4K Blu-ray player, however, I have found some 4K digital media and when played from a hard drive or thumb drive directly connected to the TV it plays them flawlessly. These files were in various formats as well, to include .ts, .mkv, .mp4, and .avi, in which they all played well. Several of the available apps also have 4K media for streaming, though some don’t compare to the quality of the downloaded media. Passive 3D is the way to go and the way it works with this TV is perfect. No matter where I went in my house, which has an open concept, I was able to see 3D. I usually get a slight eye strain headache when watching 3D in theaters, however I have not felt it with this TV. The clarity is so perfect that the 3D seems to pop even more than I recall seeing in theaters. When watching 3D you can see it pretty well from just about any side angle, so long as the TV is at eye level. However, if you are looking up or down at the TV there is some crosstalk, so if you are mounting the TV high, 3D will not work well for you. The 3D settings allow for side by side or top bottom sources, but it also has a 2D to 3D feature that is rather interesting. It is not perfect, as some things seem to pop out at layers they shouldn’t be, but it does add a 3D perspective to just about anything. Some “3D” games that aren’t actually 3D supported can now look 3D with this setting. Dual Play is another feature that uses the 3D technology to allow for split screen games to play full screen. It is a really interesting concept, however, the image becomes stretched and slightly distorted to essentially take half a screen and fill it to full screen. I hope that they can take this concept further and possibly make it so that you could have 2 inputs on the same TV yet only viewed with a set of the single polarized glasses. Imagine playing a game on 65 inches while others in the room watch their favorite TV show. I have a home theater sound system so I only used the built in audio briefly. However, I was surprised by the depth of the sound from the built in speakers. My receiver is not 4K capable, so I have my HDMI sources plugged directly to the TV and optical out to the receiver. So far, all the formats I have thrown at it seem to be passed through just fine. The sound bar is also the thickest part of the TV in which the very slim base snaps and screws into. The sound bar is not detachable, nor does it fold back like the G6, but I feel it looks great with the TV. One point that may vary in opinion from person to person is what you think about how close the base sits to the surface in which it is sitting on. It is so low profile that nothing will fit under the edge of the TV. Where I had a thin USB drive hooked up, and the TV perfectly fitting my entertainment system, I can’t run it out under the TV as I did on a different model. Though, having no space there makes the TV look like part of the entertainment stand. Another slight annoyance for me is that the HDMI inputs are on the back, facing the side, only a few inches in. This does make them easy to reach, however, for thick HDMI cables, this does not allow them room to bend behind the TV. So, they can be seen sticking out the side of the TV. If they had been a bit further back or on the top of the component area they would have been perfect for larger cables, providing for that hidden streamline look. Web OS 3.0 and the magic remote are easy to use and provide for a whole lot of functionality. Everything I have ran through it so far has ran flawlessly. Changing between inputs or applications is quick and easy. I don’t know if it is a feature I have not located yet or if it is missing, but I wish there was an easier way to reset center for the pointer and to hide the pointer. Sometimes I find myself waving the remote off at an odd angle to get across the screen and then the big pink pointer lingers on the screen a bit too long at times, especially if bumped once I set it down. However, for the most part it is point and click on everything. I hope with everything in this TV that it will last many years with upcoming technology. It is certainly supporting everything that you can throw at it for now.

Great picture and awesome 3D
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality is really mind blowing. My only gripe is with motion processing - is not up to scratch as with LCD's. Image a little jittery, more obvious when the camera pans. 3D is better than at the movies.

Still on backorder
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd love to give an honest review but my TV is still on backorder after more than a month. Perplexing and frustrating. The rating is not for the TV, since I don't have it yet, it's for the subpar buying experience (although I do not blame my sales guy).

Not so great picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first set up the TV it looked beautiful the screen was very nice but as for the the picture quality it was not so great for cable. Sense my network is broadcast in 1080i I don't believe that they have caught up with 4K technology they do not broadcast in 4K and the ones that did like Netflix pitcher quality was horrible even though this is supposed to upgrade from 1080i to 4K it does not do a good job I do not know if it's The TVs fault or the cable company's fault but either way they are not ready for 4K broadcasting I did not play the 4K Blu-ray so I cannot comment on that but for regular TV it's not ready that's my opinion.

Disappointing for the hype
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a top of the line samsung from 2 years ago and when the LG went on sale, thought I would give it a try for a second TV in the house. The picture and user interface were very disappointing. This TV actually cost less than the samsung based on the sale but I returned it and purchased a second new samsung. Don't forget the little things. The netflix app in the tv would not display 4K content at all for example.

The best TV ever made
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently reviewed the new Samsung ks9500 and gave the tv a 1 star because of the amount of light bleed issues and now I found what I was looking for all along OLED. The picture is amazing reminds me of plasma blacks with 4K and HDR. Yes I know the money is a bit on the expensive side but I can confidently tell you after owning a Samsun ks9500 and Sony x930d that it blows these tvs out of the water and if you want the best picture possible get this tv.its also very future proof with Dolby vision and HDR.

Best picture of any TV, but some problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this TV. It is the best one I have ever had. The picture is stunning when streaming Netflix 4K movies or UHD bluray movies. You will not find a better picture than an OLED. True blacks, brilliant colors. Save up for this TV and don't settle for less. There are drawbacks. 1) image retention (screen burn look). This is very noticeable on grey and solid color screens. Some particularly bright images or long lasting images will show on uniform color images, but you will not notice it with most any other image. Say I'm watching NFL Sunday Ticket mix. When switching to another input and get a grey screen, you will see an image burn of NFL Sunday ticket and the various windows. Again, only seen on a uniform color screen. Or if hooking up a PC and the bright Windows 10 logo is in the back. When a grey screen comes up, you will see an image burn effect. 2) Input lag. This is a problem with all OLED screens. There is a fairly high input lag of over 30ms, even with game settings. It's more than double without game setting. And you cannot have HDR and game setting on at the same time, which is a problem for HDR gaming with PS4 and XBox One. Not a deal breaker, but it should be fixed. Ideally, input lag should be below 20ms. This TV is expensive but so worth it. No non-OLED TV can compete with the picture quality of these TVs. Again, if you can't afford it right now, start saving up. It is worth it.

Stunningly Beautiful 3D
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has often been called the best TV in the world today and it certainly seems so to me, and for me it was worth every penny of the purchase price. I even like to watch commercials on it (although I’m sure I will get over that soon enough!). My wife says she doesn’t like the TV – she loves it! I had heard people report repeatedly that this TV has the best 3D ever produced (note that it requires a 4K TV to get passive 3D in full high definition). I figured 3D would be cool and fun to watch but still figured it would be something of a novelty. What I wasn’t prepared for is how stunningly beautiful 3D is on this set. With a good 3D movie it looks like a completely natural, crystal sharp, full HD picture, but it’s in 3D. We’ve all seen 3D in the theater, but this is just a different experience, a thing of beauty. With several 3D movies so far I have had to pick my jaw up off the floor afterwards. The model 65E6 is not cheap, but it is the cheapest 2016 OLED that has both a flat screen and 3D. So it was a no-brainer that this was the model for me to replace my old 50-inch plasma set. And I’m extremely happy with my choice. Having said all this, there are some caveats to this TV. LG’s quality control is not the best, and I recommend buying it at a place that has a good and easy return policy (like Best Buy) just in case. I researched this TV very thoroughly before buying it, and here are problems people are reporting in internet forums that require exchanging the set: 1. Faulty 3D filter resulting in 3D crosstalk (double image or ghosting) where there is no viewing angle that avoids it, particularly too narrow a vertical viewing angle where you get crosstalk either at the top or bottom of the screen no matter what angle you view at. It is normal to get some crosstalk on some movies, but persistent crosstalk in particular parts of the screen is not normal or acceptable. 2. An off-color (especially green) tint when viewed from a side angle (check facial skin tones for this). 3. Random white flashes (a single frame of full-screen white) that can occur as infrequently as every other day or you can’t get through a movie without getting one or two. If this is infrequent enough, it may not bother you even if you do have it. Fortunately I did not have any of these problems, so I’m one happy camper.
