It will play regular Blu-ray's just fine, but when trying to play 4K UHD be prepared for an onslaught of required bloatware with ridiculous permissions just to watch a movie, plus you have to pay for additional software to even do that after some time.

Not a lot of options out there for those of use that need or what physical media but this drive is a good choice.

I mean, how long has tech like that been available? I picked this up with the intention of backing up some my CDs up and maybe some old PS1 and PS2 games. Needless to say, if this thing can't even handle an audio CD I am not expecting much in the way with my old video game discs. It's another high-end PC component (much like the Elgato capture card that I purchased) that fails utterly. After 16 months, I am sick and tired of sinking money into my Lenovo Legion gaming PC and not seeing any return on my investment. Every last component I have had installed on the thing has just been fraught with peril and has required additional upgrades beyond the initial component. This is just another example of this! I would have been better off with some bare-bones model that could run Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office! Even my old HP Pavillion had a preinstalled CD/DVD writer in it that worked better than this thing! What a miserable experience to have to endure and I wouldn't recommeend it to anyone!
