Runs DVDs that won't run in my old installed unit
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Just recently had a chance to use this little goodie. I'm (slowly) building a new machine which has no optical drive slot, so I bought this unit. It runs beautifully, helping me to transfer files from one machine to the other. Also, I tested a couple of DVD movies on my old machine with it. Those DVDs refuse to play in my old machine, and I'd thought they were possibly corrupted. They ran perfectly as well. So this new player has passed to critical tests for me. Very happy with this. Now I only need to be VERY careful with its tray. It has no noticeable support when it's out, it seems a bit flimsy, and pressing a DVD down into position seems sort of 'reckless'. I trust, tho, the great reviews I've read at various sites with no mention of the trays breaking. Anyway, thanks LG, I hope to be using this item for a long time.

Doesn't play 4K UHD without paid software!
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. For those of us who still need an external dvd drive / writer, I recommend this New Upgrade from their previous DVD Writer and basic Blu-Ray reader/writer. However, the 4k UHD feature is void if you don't purchase the proper update software. The Cyberlink software that is included is ONLY a trial version. Back in the day when you purchased a unit like this, the FULL VERSION software was included. My How things have changed...LOL. Oh, btw, don't expect tech support from LG. Thank the Stars for Best Buy Total Tech Support...LOL.

Worth Considering
||Posted .Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.Nice external blu-ray player. If you need a disc drive for your computer this one is worth considering. I’m currently using it with my MacBook Pro and I have no complaints. It was priced at ~$100 when I got it which is reasonable for a good BD burner. I can’t speak to how well it works to burn DVDs but otherwise happy with this purchase.

Worked Great
||Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed. The LG 6x External Blu-ray Disc worked great for me used it to read my 35 3d blue rays with an mkv program and then created 3d files with another program to use side by side on my Occulus Quest 2. It also came with a program that I can play my blue rays on the computer if needed.

Worth the extra investment.
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I tried a couple of sub-$25 units and both had real problems with some DVDs, and one of them NEVER successfully a disc! This one was more expensive, but it actually works. I wish I'd gotten this one first. I think the tray is a bit flimsy, and if you're not careful you can get a disk cockeyed which makes if refuse to mount, but I got over that hump -- just pay attention when inserting a disc,

Q: QuestionDoes the Software included with this Burner contains the necessary things to have hdcp onto the Computer?
Asked by Toby.
- A:Answer HDCP is a purely digital technology that relies on DVI and HDMI cables. That's why you'll often see acronyms like DVI/HDCP and HDMI/HDCP grouped together. HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. The purpose of HDCP is to protect digital copyrighted content as it travels from a device to your TV, generally through HDMI or DVI connections. The LG UHD 3D Blu-ray Disc Playback & M-DISC™ Support, Model # BP60NB10connects to your computer or TV via USB. It does not have HDMI connectivity...^IFV

Q: QuestionDoes the included software allow you to copy old DVD's to the computer so you can watch them later? I want to put them on my laptop or tablet so the kids can watch movies when we are on road trips.
Asked by Denver.
- A:Answer There is a free program you can use called MakeMKV. This will allow you to rip the DVD or Blu-ray for storage. You can then setup PLex or DNLA for playback on most devices. Movies do require quite a bit of storage, although DVDs are the least storage happy so make sure you have the hard drive space!
