Horrible dryer

I had an older version that was approximately 15 -18 years old that functioned much better than this one. We only replaced it because the washer died and flooded our hallway. We chose to get this version of the dryer because ours was so old and we wanted the newer technology knowing that our dryer probably didn’t have much time left, plus we wanted it to match the washer. Now, every 3rd to 4th load, I have to clean the vents with a brush and a vacuum. The filter is significantly smaller than the filter on my older version. Other than that, nothing has changed much on our side. We have cleaned the vent to outside, we have put a new, shorter vent hose on it, and nothing helps. I have to put in smaller loads to get things dry, which is ridiculous since the should dry larger loads easily. This is awful, particularly for someone recovering from cervical spine surgery and still struggling with a lumbar spine injury. I do not recommend this dryer and wish I could get my old one back.

Don’t buy this!

We installed it appropriately (with spanking clean vents) and have gotten D85 and D90 errors since. I quick google search would have told us that many experience this issue and need to manually remove this safety device which is insane to me. After all the troubleshooting, I missed the return window and wish I hadn’t. Super disappointed.

Too smart for its own good

Turns out this LG "Smart" dryer is a little too smart. It keeps throwing a d95 error code saying our vents are blocked up. We cleaned them. Then it kept saying there was a block. We doubled checked the connector per the LG instructions. Nope, still said it was blocked! We hired an outside company to professionally check and clean the ducts all the way to the roof - they said everything was fine. They should have tried convincing the dryer, as it continues to throw the same d95 error code again and again, no matter what size load, whether or not the filter was just cleaned, and after we repeatedly clean the vent. The companion washer is fantastic, but this dryer is a dud. Never seen a smart product be so dumb and worthless.

TERRIBLE

Huge mistake

This dryer purchase was by far the biggest mistake we made. A couple of weeks in (of course after the 14 day return period), we started getting d90 errors a few minutes into drying. I consulted with LG and we were told it was likely a clogged dryer vent from “years of use” in our house - I explained that that’s highly unlikely since it is a brand new house. I was then told a repair ticket would be opened - never heard back from LG. I called again a few weeks later and again, was told a repair ticket would be opened, no follow up from LG. I tried Best Buy support as well, but was told to contact LG. We’re now shopping for a new washer & dryer (washer has been retaining hair in the drum) and will be staying away from LG in the future.

The "CLEAN FILTER" indicator is designed as a reminder to check the lint filter before each use. To address this, please try removing the filter, opening it, cleaning it thoroughly, and then reinserting it securely in place. After reinserting, press the START/PAUSE button to begin the dry cycle.

Sensors are WORTHLESS

This happened when I tested with ONE SHIRT. I do not do large mixed loads. All jeans. Damp. All gym shorts. Damp. All t-shirts. Damp. These aren't huge loads, and I am used to doing loads of similar weight and materials so the sensor in the dryer works properly. They basically told me the sensors will not work unless I do a load of exactly the same things that isn't too big or too small. I don't know how to to make my loads any more the same. I paid more for a sensor feature that is absolutely worthless. This isn't my first dryer with a sensor, and I've never had this problem before. My last dryer barely lasted five years, but at least it dryed on the sensor settings. This will be my last LG.

DO NOT BUY FROM BESTBUY

They offered a $200 gift card for absolutely wrecking a $2000 set…. Then NEVER EVEN SENT THE GIFT CARD. I contacted them TWO different times after never getting the gift card. They blow me off every time. DO NOT buy from them. You will not get what you paid for and customer service is a nightmare!

Unable to complete dryer install.

Installers were unable to remediate the problem or replace with a shorter tube. Instructed to schedule another install appointment. Installer would provide the information to service/support on what was needed.

Dryer lint sticks

After each load lint is stuck which requires it being picked out by hand. Also the dryer time can’t be easily customized outside what comes as standard drying time. I would have thought a dryer for this much money would be much better.

Airflow Sensor failure

Cleaned everything machine and house vents, nothing works. A big piece of junk at the house for 1000$. LG should concentrate on making last long products, instead high technology failures. Before you buy, don’t get excited about the high technology advances, make sure the dryer last longer, and reliable.

Beware of trouble after the return period

After having Geek Squad tech change the main board, the heat sync and the motor - basically leaving me with a "Frankenstein dyrer" I had to complain endlessly to get a new one. FINALY, after reaching EVP and President's office via email, someone responded and replaced it. Too much time was spent with Best Buy on this purchase which as less than six months old and still under warranty. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. Customer Service agents, some were understanding and others didn't know what to do except to ask me to 'hang dry my items.' Yes, "hand dry" them after I purchased a dryer. It upset me so much but there was no one who would listen. Went to the TOP of the company after being continously frusted. NOTE: THE COMPANION WASHER WORKS LIKE A DREAM AND I LOVE IT.

Should have went else where to purchase!

I only had it for 3 weeks and they said they can’t replace the dryer that they will send someone out to look at and have it fixed..

If it is ON please turn it off because it makes the machine to release 40% hot air only for the entire cycle to save energy. Please check also the flow sense. DOA and stuck without a dryer

The dryer is dead on arrival (DOA) will not start as some door sensor does not work. Now I am without a dryer as they hauled away the old one, and cannot get a replacement for a week. So it looks like the Quality Control at LG/Best Buy is lacking. For Best Buy their deliver/install system is really bad. As I have to wait a day for the "order to close" before I have to call again to request a replacement. Why can't the guys who installed the dryer setup the replacement when they called in the defective product.

Quick dry, Steam fresh, custom cycles

The steam fresh cycle is a quick 10 minutes or less to iron out wrinkles or to refresh a sport coat. Wifi option will allow you to access multiple cycles from an LG app (one that works for LG TV). We like it because this unit is fairly quiet and quick to dry, cut about half of electricity usage compared to our old dryer.

Worst Dryer Ever

I’ve owned five dryers in my life, and this is the WORST. Almost every load requires manually adding extra time to get clothes fully dry. My first contact to LG resulted in a phone chat where the technician wanted me to reset the washer. Not an easy task to get to the plug but I did manage to complete the reset and there was no improvement. I contacted LG a second time and a repair person came to the house. His assessment was that the dryer was working to standard. The repair technician suggested that If I wanted to get my clothes dry, it was probably better to avoid the sensor dry and manually set the time and not to use the energy saver function.

Posted .The advice you were given is correct. The Energy Saver option saves power because it is using air circulation to dry your load on a reduced temperature. This feature is essential on items prone to damage or shrinkage in normal heated dryer settings, however adds time it takes to fully dry a load of laundry.
