But first one I got just chattered and could not read a disc; took it in to the store and traded for a different one, and since then no problems. Sounded like this might be pretty unusual -- all the rest off the reviews I read were positive and the exchange at the store was easy.

My laptop just automatically installed it with no prompting. I used it to burn 40 dvds and it was easy, quiet, fast and, of course, gave the expected results! I recommend this to anyone looking for a basic, yet totally functional, burner.
