It works well as a burner when it is connected to the PC by an USB. I love the fact it only needs 1 cable - it works perfectly on my iMac where I use it once in a while. However, if you are looking for very fast recording times or burn discs on a daily basis, look for another model. Reading times are good. It does what I was looking for and it it very small, which helps when using with other computers.

Manufactured ready to use. It does have to sit separate to your laptop or pc but if it saves the internal structure of your laptop it is worth it.

I purchased this DVD/CD drive the day I purchased my iMAC because it was recommended by the employee helping me. It was on sale and way cheaper than the apple brand, but works amazing and does what it claims. I recommend this to anyone who wants to save money! It is compatible and worth the purchase. I was initially hesitant, but the moment I used it, I was so glad I had no issues and saved a lot. lol Definitely recommend!

I First bought a LG phone 5 years now and still running strong. I am highly impressed with the quality of LG products. This device has easy to use "PNP" and is compatible with all my usb devices. It feels a bit light and I was being cheep going for the slower speed, yet I only am using this for occasional use and so speed is not an issue for me. when it is being used it can tolerate a bump or two without skips or stalling. A plus with dogs in the house. Overall the is a solid dvd reader/ writer that will pack in my luggage nicely. I am sure I will be able to have many good years with my now 2 month old lg dvd pnp device. I also like the fact that I do not need to plug it in for electricity, seeing how it uses the usb port for power and communication. it gets only 4 stars because I only have had this for 2 months and so I do not know how long it will hold up to my usage. For the price and the amount of use I will have for it I expect it to last at least 3-5 years and so I can not give it 5 stars until I reach 3-5 years of usage. If it is as good and solid as other LG products I own I am 80% sure it will last that long. a solid product that meets my needs.
