Perfect for newer notebooks with no cd/DVD drives.

hardly used so far so I can't say much but I'm sure it works

very quiet when running, haven't been able to use much yet.

I use this mostly to create backups of my data. I tried to play a movie with it but neither my new PC with Windows 8.1 nor the software that came with this device include such a program. I think Cyberlink (that came with device) wanted $90 to upgrade to movie playing software.

I was extremely disappointed with this product and with Best Buy. I had done some research before buying it to see if I needed extra software or not. It comes with a DVD installer, which I installed and uninstalled several times. I downloaded different programs, such as VLC, etc. And I still cannot read my DVDs. It shows the files, but it is impossible to play them. I went to Best Buy, and instead of telling me if it was an issue with the product or if I had to get another additional software, they said that they would answer my questions after I paid $30. The guy was quite rude too. I usually buy at Best Buy because I appreciate the service (before and after a purchase) and the people there, but honestly this experience was really disappointing!

Love the look and feel even though it is lightweight it still has a solid feel ... However the software does not seem Windows 8.1 friendly still can't get it to play a DVD movie. And it does not register with windows media player so I can rip CD's to the Laptop... However I am still glad to have it....

This drive does what I need I just wish it was faster.

It's a nice slick look but it skips my cd and freezes

This unit works as it is supposed to. It runs off the power of the laptop or desktop it is plugged into. It seems to work well and it is nice to have it when you need it, but to not have it adding bulk to your laptop constantly when today there is very little need to have a disk drive at all times.

My only complaint about this drive is that it feels a little flimsy in your hands. If your rough on the things you carry around you may not like this drive. Other than that it performs as expected.

Doesn't always open when you push the button. I would say about 80% of the time it does open when you first push the button. But once the disc is inside haven't had any issues with it not reading. So I don't mind having to push the button again a 2nd time

Overall the product was good and the install instructions was easy to understand and follow. Unfortunately it wouldn't install on my laptop because my drivers were out of date so I had to return it.

Overalll a good piece of equipment. Seems a bit flimsy, but functions well and time will tell if it will last, but so far no problems and it is cheaper than the apple version and does the same job

From ripping cd's to archiving home movies, this dvd writer gets the job done. Easy set up, quiet operation, and fast transfer makes this a first rate dvd writer. I have owned this for 5 years and have not had a single issue with it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Went thin on a replacement laptop for my wife and like most people, I had CD software to install. So had to go external. Cmon manufacturers...if you are going thin, don't assume we are going to not have software to install. But alas...was inexpensive and worked like a champ.

Laptop computer I purchased didn't come with a DVD/CD player. This seemed to be a good drive for an inexpensive price. So far it seems to work fine.

Great cd rom bought it for my mac air works just fine,.. another thing I like is that I could also use as a dvd player, on my daughters 32 inch, only thing I did not like is that is kind of slow when burning dvds. Great value for price though
