A Usefull Stand alone dvd device

I am highly impressed with the quality of LG products. This device has easy to use "PNP" and is compatible with all my usb devices. It feels a bit light and I was being cheep going for the slower speed, yet I only am using this for occasional use and so speed is not an issue for me. when it is being used it can tolerate a bump or two without skips or stalling. A plus with dogs in the house. Overall the is a solid dvd reader/ writer that will pack in my luggage nicely. I am sure I will be able to have many good years with my now 2 month old lg dvd pnp device. I also like the fact that I do not need to plug it in for electricity, seeing how it uses the usb port for power and communication. it gets only 4 stars because I only have had this for 2 months and so I do not know how long it will hold up to my usage. For the price and the amount of use I will have for it I expect it to last at least 3-5 years and so I can not give it 5 stars until I reach 3-5 years of usage. If it is as good and solid as other LG products I own I am 80% sure it will last that long. a solid product that meets my needs.

Great addition to my new laptop

The Spectre has USB ports and the LG plugged right in, I loaded the device software and everything went flawlessly. I bought it primarily to load software so can't comment on who well it performs at burning disks. If your device has a USB port there's no reason to not have one.

I only needed a drive to download CDs and DVDs. This external drive was perfect! It was easy to install and I was downloading music in minutes. And the price is unbeatable!

Then I want to convert my DVD movie collection to my computer hard drive, problem. I bought this plus RIP soft ware and have converted my DVD collection to my computer:)
