OK price for the drive, but still needed additional software (not included). At least I could burn a CD if I needed to (but don't need to).

I bought a new laptop. For the purposes of a sleek design it did not have a CD/DVD drive. I bought this for that reason. It's hard to go into detail about a drive. It works great and comes with added software.

talk to me in 6 months and I'll tell you more! I used it so far only to read backed up filed saved to a cd. It seems to work fine for that.

Daughter's Laptop did not come with CD Drive. She still wanted to play some old games and be able to backup computer and photos. This foots the bill at a bargain price. Photos and computer are backed up!

This drive was better than expected. It was plug and play and no further installation required. I woudl recommend this as a purchase for those who have bought a laptop that does not have an optical drive.

I hadn't purchased a laptop in so long I didn't realize DVD ROM's were no longer built in so had to purchase as a separate item. However, the product itself is fine with no issues and works as intended.

Probably a good drive but will not work with a surface tablet. Surface requires a powered drive. Best buy informed me it would work great with the surface but that wasn't true.

It was easy to install, easy to set up, easy to use. Just a little slow, but it does the job.

I bought this because my previous external dvd drive failed and it was the only one I could find at the time. I need it because my laptop does not have an optical drive. This does the job and looks nice.

Had to buy an additional powered USB port to load software onto the Surface Pro 3. Device is extremely fragile. Not good for carrying around to watch movies when you travel.

This is a great reader for someone who doesn't want to spend the none for the name on the case

This replaces the internal disk drive that quit working. The USB connection made it work easily on a Sony Vista Laptop. Going to get more out of the laptop before replacing.

Alot of notebooks and laptops exclude the cd and sometimes you find yourself in a pickle needing a disk reader or you may want to burn a cd or watch a dvd. Hey its worth to have around the house..

This is the solution for when you need a lightweight laptop and the use of a DVD drive. It allows you to access what you need when you need it.

As an external drive, it works just fine. I was disappointed that the included software is not compatible with Windows 8.1.
