I still possess movies and software on DVDs and was quite perplexed about what to do. Thank heavens for external DVD players. This has worked easily and well, especially helpful for adding my camera software to my computer and some programs I still use from CD.

My computer recognized this device without any problems. Speed seems to be about average. Good product. Price was a little higher that some others, but overall not a bad buy.

Great for a newbie

My Mac didn't have a disk drive and I needed to burn a cd. This was the perfect thing! Easy to set up and get it going! Just as easy to use!

Replaces internal DVD drive

It does the job I need it to do and I can leave it at home when not needed. Probably reduces the weight of laptop too. Was on sale when purchasing select laptops. I got mine with my HP Envy.

Convenient way to add a DVD writer to a Laptop

PROS (so far): Small - about the size of a jewel case, Very lightweight, and no power cable necessary, USB power. CONS (so far): seems so lightweight it may break easily, all plastic construction, eject button only works when still "mounted" or linked to the computer. Overall, for the price point and features it seems like a solid buy so far... I hope to come back and update the review once I test it further.

A great option not having a built-in CD drive

So this was used for anything he might ever need to install via a dvd. It was an easy setup, plug it in. He was encouraged that he was able to just, plug it in.
