Hardware seems to work very well for data files. Signal/power cable is too short, needs about another foot or so. The software was not in my original box but Best Buy provided a CD. The Media software is terrible and will not allow me to use the drive to view my training course disks.

This worked good for a portable dvd/cd drive. It took a bit longer to start reading some disks but it does add more portability to todays thin laptops that don't have the internal drives. It may not be needed by everyone but for those of us who still need them it does work good.

I bought a new laptop for my wife and asked her if she needed one with a dvd drive. She didn't need one, or so she thought. About a week later she needed to install some DVD based program so I bought this drive to get it installed. Good to have and worked great. Easy setup.

Great for these new smaller computers that don't have built in drives. Normally I haven't used my built in drives very much but with the smaller newer computers you never know when you will need a drive. This unit can be used on any computer that has a usb port Thats nice to.

I have been using this compact drive for about a month and I take if from one computer to 9 other laptops, tablets and computers daily. It is extremely light in weight and can also fit in any large pocket of a Jacket or sweater. It runs very quietly and it is compatible with all 10 units that I have and some of them are 10 years old. If they had an item like this a long time ago we would never have any bulky large computers on our desks anymore. I have put in nearly 30 disks into this item and have yet to have an issue with any of them. Great portable drive.

Works great with a new laptop that doesn't have a CD drive. The only thing I don't like is that there is a popup associated with it that shows up on my computer, but I haven't figured out how to change that.

I didn't want to buy another gadget, but I needed to access the audio French CDs that I had purchased several years ago. I wanted to listen to them on my daily walk, which I had not been able to do previously. This device did what I needed it to do,and I am happy.

For many years i had been using internal dvd/cd player on my main computer , and i had problems almost every year. Finally i switched to an external one listening to one of my it professional friends recomendation. LG's compact slim dvd/cd player has been the smoothest exprience i have had.

I work as a self employed PC tech and sometimes the EU's CD ROM doesn't work in their PC. Since I always try to get the job done on the first visit, I bought this CD ROM to carry around with me when that situation occurs. I have used this device several times and it has not let me down yet.

The hardware is good. My only problem is that the software that came with it has nothing to do with using the drive, so I stopped the install. Now every time my computer is started, I have to say no that I do not want to install the software. It is annoying.

I haven't had it for all that long but so far it works as expected. I have burned and ripped CDs and DVDs with no issues. Build quality feels solid. Unit was plug and play with my Mac Mini. No complaints. Also-it arrived significantly faster than the estimated date, so kudos to Best Buy.

I love my new Asus Flip Top touch screen laptop. And since some of my favorite programs are on a cd, this is the perfect peripheral to use. Its a sleek looking, low profile unit that works great. Plus its reasonably priced.

I purchased this unit with very little faith due to the price point. I needed it soaly to convert my CD collection to MP3. I have ripped 450 CDs so far with no snags or hick ups. It met and far exceeded my expectations

I bought this item for a fairly good price, so I'm not going to poo poo on it for that reason. However, it is not one of the better external hard drive's that I've come across. One of the reasons I feel this way stems from the drives inability to install simple anti-viral software from webroot, which worked on my internal hard drive on another computer. Both computers ran the same OS, so it likely was drive that has the issue. However, it appears to work with most other software that I've used with it since. I only recommend this product, if you get it for a good price.

I have an Apple iMac and didn't want to spend the $80 for a Apple disc burner. So glad I went with this model, I saved $40 and it works exactly like I need it to. I tried using the disc installer, but it was for Windows. It apparently doesn't need to be installed for Apple products

This external drive has proven to be a complete drive in everyway. I purchased this drive to provide an external source, when I need it, for my Surface Pro 3. Easy to use and quickly recognized by my SP3. Good product.

This very thin and light device is great for putting in the ol' laptop bag and taking with my 2-in-1 laptop that does not have an optical drive. I've tried reading and burning CDs. It does both without issue. I have not tried the DVD capabilities of the drive as of this comment.

I bought this as a just in case i need it... My new Dell did not have a CD drive. I rarely use one, so I may never need it for my computer. I have used it once and it works great for the cost.

With diminishing availability of CD/DVD drives built into laptops, the need for external drive may pop up from time to time. I would recommend one such drive in a household. There are more expensive ones svailable, but this is a great for its price.
