After a cracked disc ruined my desktop drive, I needed a replacement. Having close to 200 discs of info, movies, music, I chose the LG-8X drive. Everything I put into it has played or ripped perfectly! Its also very portable for on-the go needs!

I bought one because my new laptop didn't have one. I am very pleased with the quality over all and it was just a matter of plugging it in. I used it to load a few programs and had no issues. Nice and slim and stows away in my carry case nicely.

Recently my entire household upgraded to ultrathin machines. But, we still have media on CD that we will need to access without dredging out one of our old laptops. This product is working well so far for that purpose.

Only reason I purchase this was to install Roxio VHS/DVD transfer software and now I'm using it to convert DVDs and CDs to add to iTunes. Product is okay. I was just looking for something inexpensive that would get the job done, and this does.

It did attempt to download software which at first appears software which is NEEDED to operate the drive. This step is not necessary, but only an attempt to gain your interest in purchasing additional software for creating disc labels, etc.

Plug it in and it works as promised - no drivers or anything to load on my new windows 8 laptop (which did not come with a CD/DVD drive). Great as back up in case you need to read a disc, play music cd or load software etc. Very lite weight which is great but the case construction could be sturdier - if you carry it in your bag all the time you may want put it in padded compartment so it does not get crushed

I needed this for my PC that doesn't have a DVD/CD Drive. It works perfectly when I have used it and is still functioning with no problems or issues. I would purchase this again. Catch it on sale for a bargain.

I bought this as an add on to my laptop. Works good and was easy to set up. I've ripped about 150 cd's of my personal collection and so far so good. I haven't tried dvd's yet but if it makes it through another 150 cd's, I'll check it out.

Great product. Fast and efficient. Easy to use, compact and light weight! Bought this for my 70 year old mother who has no problem operating it.

Easy to use; didn't take long to install. Most computers need an extra app or software to play movies though if they have windows 8 or above as windows media player is no longer available on these platforms.

My laptop's dvd reader crapped out on me and this was a recommendation from the Best Buy manager at the store :) He totally helped me pick this out and I love it. It's super light though, so be careful about dropping it. Great price too!

This is a very good external external double layer DVD RW/CDRW drive. It's convenient for keeping all those files clogging up your PC or your laptop. No issues when plugging it in, and very fast and reliable.

I have nothing to say bad about it!! I use for my macbook air and it working perfectly fine! Movie ran smooth! programs uploaded without any disturbance ! It was the prefect purchase!

We use this for the Mac book because it doesn't have an internal CD drive which I thought was weird at first. But we don't even use it much. It works though

A few months ago I bought Lenovo notebook. Only problem, no DVD drive. I bought this DVD drive / external so I could complete my taxes using TurboTax. It did the job. I guess I'll have to try a movie next.

love having a small laptop and being able to use a portable dvd drive when i need it! this was cheap and works perfectly.

When I needed to purchase a DVD/CD player/burner as my new laptop did not come with one, I went straight to the Best Buy website to see what they had. This player works really well and was very easy to set up. Fully recommended.

Works with my ubuntu, apple macbook, and windows machines without any issues. Also used it to reinstall windows on a tiny laptop with no cd/dvd drive. Even pre boot i was able to use it to do the os install

I bought this to load software onto my Mac mini. It accomplished the task. I also watched a tutorial. I have only used it a touch so I can't testify to its quality over time, but it worked for the project.

My new computer didn't have this drive and while my old computer was in the shop this drive saved my relationship! My guy was able to play his game and all was right with the world! Easy to install as well
