Common issues with these types of devices such as cord too short, cord too long, etc. Once it is hooked up and playing it is easy to forget about especially if connected to a laptop. Undocumented feature: the drive is sturdy so if you do pick the laptop up while it is still connected it will not break.

Good basic DVD writer

SW was installed with driver that causes webroot to ask if I want to allow data to be sent to LG. Annoying, I always say no. Other than that, the DVD writer works fine.

The best value for the money

The drive was easy to install and get working. Its install disc was easy to use and has several useful programs included on it. The drive uses the USB port for power thus eliminating an extra power cord to deal with. It plays DVDs well and burns DVDs quickly. The user interphase is easy to understand and functional. This is an exceptional value for a product of this quality.
