Never thought I would like a laptop without a built in DVD but this is a great substitute saving a lot of size and weight on the laptop

My new ultrabook has no CD drive and I had some old CDs to rip and put on my phone. Didn't want to spend to much on a piece of hardware to use once, but for $34 it was a deal - works great and very compact

Besides its attractive slim design, it is amazingly simple to use. I've used it on both my Gateway laptop and MacBook Pro. When done with the project, the LG external CD/DVD burner easily fits in a drawer.

I was worried that there would be some complicated set-up required but I was happy that it worked straight away as soon as I plugged it in. I use a MacBook Pro Retina and though nothing happens when you plug it in initially (except for a sound from the drive indicating that it's working), when you put a CD/DVD in, it does. It's pretty straightforward. I use this mostly to put my plethora of music CDs on my laptop and it's fine for that purpose. Watching DVDs is also no-nonsense. The only thing that irked me was that when I want to eject the CD/DVD, pressing the button on the actual drive isn't very responsive. Only when I click the eject button on my laptop screen does it work. But overall no big problems.

I bought this for my laptop since it did not have a disc drive and there were a few things my husband needed to use for work that were only available on CD. The product is really light and works well.

As most of you have noticed laptops don't seem to be coming with a CD/DVD drive. I thought I was OK with this when I purchased my Lenovo Yoga 2, but I finally ran into a problem with a previously purchase program that only installs from a CD. I wanted to get something slim, inexpensive and didn't need a power cord. My brother told me about this drive and how he was very satisfied. I have only owned this product for less than a week, so I can't speak for durability at this time but it has met all my other requirements.

Since most laptops don't have CD drives these days (to keep them lighter), if you want to load software from a CD, you need a drive. This is a great buy and works just like a charm. Just plug it in and you are ready to go. It weighs very little, so if you need it on the go, just pop it into your laptop case and you're ready to do. I used it to load software to my new Sony laptop and it was all taken care of in just a few minutes. Great product, low price. The best of both worlds.

I hate reading directions but this was easy to set up and I had no problems getting it connected and working. I've only needed to use it a few times but it has worked fine.

Bought this because the laptop I purchased did not have an internal DVD drive. I needed something inexpensive, small, light, and portable that could run off USB power. This drive fit the bill perfectly.

Very useful. Especially since my computer doesn't have a DVD/CD drive. Very light weight and slim. Also, great because I can actually connect it to my LG TV if I needed to.

Easy to connect and use. Good replacement for internal DVD that failed. Uses USB for power so no outlet needed.

This is an awesome value for an external drive for a Laptop. It is right around $30-$40 and is incredibly small. It works great. I only wish they had a Blu-Ray version that was similar in price!

I needed an external disk drive for my tablet - this did the trick. Great price! Not ideal to watch a movie with because of the noise, but definitely works for program installs and data backup.

This thing just works. I used it to burn tons of CDs to my laptop and it just kept chugging along. I honestly didn't expect much at such a cheap price point but it does what I need with no fuss.

It is very useful device for all computers that are not equipped with CD-DVD reader or writer. This is a good purchase with modern computers that don't come with a DVD player. It is small and inexpensive and extremely easy to set up for those times when you need access to a CD or DVD.

what a great external drive for your laptop since most new ones don't come with now. Works great and is silent and fast.

I use with my Macbook Pro and it works perfectly. Its is very low profile and light. Come with installation cd for Windows. Simple plug and play and does not require separate power cord.

Great little drive. A snap to install and it looks great and matches the finish on my Lenovo Flex perfectly. Slim profile adds to the appeal. Two quibbles- it is a bit loud with whirring and clunking sounds when reading/writing a CD. Also seems a bit flimsy when seating the CD on the spindle. Feels like you could break it if not careful.

I chose this burner for several reasons. One, it is extremely compact and will fit in my technology bag easily. Secondly, it does not need additional plug ins to make it work, which means it works well with my Surface Pro 2 tablet. Additionally, it does an excellent job with either the installation of programs, or burning discs. A great CD/DVD burner!
