    I recently purchased a laptop for my daughter who was about to go off to college. Once we arrived home with the laptop, we urged her to test it out and get acquainted with it. The one thing we didn't notice was that the laptop didn't have a DVD/CD drive (how could we have missed that?). Sometimes you need a DVD drive to load programs and definitely to watch a DVD movie. Did a bit of research and and saw great reviews of this DVD drive. So we went back and picked up this drive. It came with software for burning and backing up your laptop but there was no software to play DVDs. Wish I knew before that I needed to get software to play a DVD (did not come with Windows 8.1!!)

    Bought this to add DVD capability to a newly purchased laptop. Just wanted something to transfer files and load software. There may be faster devices out there but this worked fine for what I needed. Inexpensive alternative to todays computers that are made without DVD's.

    Needed to burn a DVD while on the road and pick the least expensive burner thinking I would burn one and if it burned two I would be ahead of the game. It's way nicer than the price would lead you to believe

    My computer doesn't have a CD/DVD drive, so I bought this external one, and it works perfectly. Easy connection, easy to work, and I'm not very computer savvy. I've used it to install my printer, Microsoft, camera stuff. I haven't tried to create any CD/DVDs yet...
